    I got a CuddleBug!

Any of the scrapper ladies here tonight?  I'm looking for web - sites and ideas.  The kids got it for me for Mothers Day and I'm dying to make cards.  Only problem is that they did'nt get anything to go with it. lol  So, I'm going in to work early tomarro and picking up foam and paper and cuts.

Go right to    www.provocraft.com  for ideas and to see what die-cuts and embossing plates they have. If you have other die cuts from some other machines you can use them with the "extra" plate B.  I can use my Sizzix stuff, Big Smile in my Cuttlebug.

I've had a blast with mine. What a wonderful gift to give you and I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks Tippy!  I was checking it out just now.  So your saying that when I go shopping tomarro I can buy the sizzix plates also?  Do you use both foam and paper?  What all do you make with yours?  I want to make cards.  I think it will be a blast.  I'll check back tomarro.

I don't have a cuttlebug but it's always seeing the cards done with the embossing plates that would make me want one. They are so cool. I would thing www.splitcoaststampers.com would have examples of cards with it. They have tons of cards.

I use mine for crafts with the grandkids, scrapbooking and card-making.

What did you finally wind up getting?

The Sizzix plates I have are from my old Sizzix machine not the newer big one. I'm not sure about those.

LOL!  I spent an arm and a leg!  I still want more.....  I bought 3 different size stacks of card stock, a couple embossers, a couple dies and the letters.  Them letters about floored me with the cost.  A pack of vellum with sayings on them and a pack of friendship stickers.  I thought the stickers were rub ons. oops. A book with ideas and a paper trimmer.

DH and I are getting ready to play with it in a couple minutes :)

Oh the dies are, Olivia letters,Asterisks,  Concentic Stars, Garden Creatures, and Baby.

TippyToes, I have another question.  I started playing with it and was checking out the embossers.  Is there some kind of ink paper that I can put inbetween the embosser so that it comes out with color?

    Re: I got a CuddleBug!

Sounds like you are going to have fun. Had to laugh that your DH is getting involved. My DH makes me cards whenever there is a reason and has taken to sneaking around with my Cuttlebug. LOL

In regards to your question...One thing you can do is "ink" the inside of your embossing plate with CHALK inkpads before you put your paper in and emboss the image. Put it on the side that will be leaving the "raised" image. I made some Christmas cards doing this with white cardstock and powder blue chalk ink and the snowflakes.

Another thing you can do to color your images is to emboss it on any cardstock you choose and then take the ink pad (of choice...Like a darker shade than the cardstock) and rub it across the raised image. The raised parts will pick up the ink.

And yet another idea: Use the card stock that says "White Core". When you run it through the Cuttlebug using an embossing plate the white shows through on the raised parts. I really like this effect. the white core cardstock comes in the big packs  called "Cardstock Stacks" at our Hobby Lobby. Do you have Hobby Lobby near you? They run specials on the Cuttlebug accessories every once-in-awhile.

    Have fun!

    Re: I got a CuddleBug!

Thanks for the info. I printed it out. Tell me about the chalk ink.  Is it something that I lay on top of the paper before it goes through the cuddlebug?  Or do I put it in the embosser and sqeeze it to ink the raised part then put the paper in?

and the white cord cardstock,  does the raised part still look white?  LOL here is me buying all this stuff that I want to use and do and I really have no clue.  Yes, DH was having fun with it too!  I think he got to play with it more than I did!  maybe tomaro I will try to make him my first card? A Thank you......

    Re: I got a CuddleBug!

I have a Cuddlebug and get everything from Joanne's, Michael's or AC Moore.  They almost always have a 40% coupon.  If you have any of these stores by you check them out.  Joanne will take everyones coupon so if you have 5 different coupons then you get 5 different items at 40%.  What I don't like is sometimes the items are on sale for 20 or 30% off and you can't use the coupon.  If you don't get the coupon go to thier website and sign up for one, then you can print more then one out.  I take my son with me all the time.  We hit all three stores and come home with lots of saving.  I will use the coupons on something as some as brad so instead of $2.99 I get them for $1.79.  It adds up.  Hope this helps.

    Re: I got a CuddleBug!

I posted a nice long reply last night and it went into cyberspace.

The ink is an "ink pad" like you use for stamping. It actually says "chalk ink" on it. The brand I have is Color Box and I get it at a local shop but I'm sure they have them in big craft stores.

You open your embossing plate and "tap" the ink pad right on the plastic. ONE SIDE only. Make sure it's on the side that will leave the "raised" imprint. The paper will pick up the color and the raised parts will remain the cardstock color.

Make sure to clean you embossing plate.

Do you have any stores near you that give classes?  I think a person gets more for their money when you take a class. You really get to learn more options and I highly recommend a Cuttlebug class.

I love my Cuttlebug so much that I have a container of  already-done pieces ready to slap on cards. I just need to send more cards! 'smile'

    Have fun!

lindachicken!  Are you a rubber stamper TOO?!
So glad to see you "turn-up" in this section!
Is there anything you don't do?

I've been rubber stamping for 2 years, however my start has been rather slow.
Have been telling myself not to even investigate the Cuddlebug & the other machine but I peeked at the site you suggested.  Really like embossing!

Shadowtails, excuse me for hi-jacking your post.  I've been missing Linda.

    Re: I got a CuddleBug!

OlRoy, your welcome to hijack my threads anytime! lol I've been missing Linda too!  Thanks for the web site.  That was pretty interesting.  Now I can't wait to back to workk tomarro and get the chalk ink and the large embossers!

Did I mention that I work at Michaels? I have a special coupon for 40% off my total purchase including sale items.  Now why could'nt they have given me that on Sunday? lol  Oh well, I guess I have to spend it.  Too bad none of you girls lived close to me.  I have an extra on that is 25% off the total purchase.... only good for thurs, fri and sat or I would mail it.

They said they do this a couple times a year. So next time I will make sure I get mine early and will send some out to you :)
