    05/11/08 CS's Chat

                Photobucket

    • Bob has to work today so he gets to spend time with someone else’s Mother.  But the sad part is the ladies there, for the most part, do not even recognize their children when they come to visit.  It is a sad situation but then Alzheimer’s is a sad disease.

    • Send some good thoughts to Stan and Tam’s daughters today since they lost Tam, I am sure she is in their thoughts today too.  She was the one and only Mother Hen we will ever have.

    • Thought for the Day-When you are a mother, you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.-Sophia Loren

    • Today is Mothers Day!  Everybody has a mother and absolutely no one is more special than mom. Sure, dad is really important. And, grandparent's too. But moms, well they are just the greatest. Often taken for granted, they are always our strongest supporter. You can't do wrong in Mom's eyes. When you are hurt, or not feeling well....there is no one else that can help you more than Mom.

    • So go out and celebrate Mother's Day. First and foremost, spend time with her. If you absolutely can not be there, take time for a long phone call. Flowers, cards, candy and gifts are all part of the day. But, mom wants some time with you far more than anything else.

    • Did you know? The first Mother's Day was May 10, 1908 in Philadelphia

    • Filling the prayers basket and hugs basket!  Don’t forget to add lots of extra prayers for Russell’s fast recovery and hugs for NancyZ!  Also for Anne and her family!  Don’t forget the extra baskets!!

    • Special hugs and prayers for Cilla, Louise and Maury, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel and Floyd, Grace, Sally, Ruth, Anne, NancyZ and Russell.

    • Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”

    • We found the problem with the address on the baby chicks!! Bob found his original order and he put the wrong zip on it.  So it was his fault and not Bob’s.  I am afraid we might still hear about it but so be it.

    • I hope everybody’s problems with Photobucket are solved.  I changed my password a little and save it then reopened Photobucket and put the new password in and it opened right up.

    • Tippy-Just send me the pictures and I will post the cake for you!!  I know it is beautiful!!

    • Mabel-I wished I had one of your old wooden crates!!   Better luck next time at cards!

    • Beverly-I think my Mocking Bird in the backyard has learned to make baby chick sounds.  I heard one out there this afternoon making a ton of racket!! So I went out and they were just being normal baby chicks eating and drinking but a Mocking Bird flew away so I have a feeling she learned a new song.

    • Cilla-Hope you had a good trip! Did your Dad go with you??  Glad he ending up finding a good doctor!!

    • Penny-J If you find the little gremlins that dirty clothes, please don’t send them here.  Bob can do that too.  And he has got to have a clean uniform everyday!!

    • Darlene-Please don’t say the s word around here.  Grace and JP say it often too!!  Great news on your DSonIL!! Prayers for him will continue.

    • Merle-That orange cake sounds wonderful.  Please post it!!  Hope the patches help!

    • Pat-Does Norm want to come mow ours too?? I will even provide lunch!!  Enjoy your trip!!

    • NancyB-Glad to fridge could be fixed.  Hope you get warm soon or you may have to come back down to Fla!!

    • JP-What kind of cookies and loaf cake did you make yesterday?? Did you leave any on the platter for us to share??

    • NancyZ-Sounds like you had a busy day!!

    • Hugs and prayers for all!!

    Happy Mother's Day!

My cookies didn't materialize...ran out of zip, but I did make a couple of Peanut Butter Loaves. I did a taste test before I added some slices to the platter, so I know they're yummy. Try some.

The garden was rototilled today, but in one section, had DH not engaged his 4 wheel drive, he would've gotten very, very stuck. It was actually still too wet. So once it dries a little more, he'll redo it. Then we'll plant potatoes and I'd like to put in green onions since we use them a lot. I wouldn't mind to plant some zucchini as well...have never tried it, but I kinda like to add it to my soups. And it's good in baking, too. DH says there's no food value in zucchini...hee, hee Wink.

Bedtime for this gal. See you Monday.

Happy Mothers day to you all. we have our mothers day in March, but my mum lives in Canada so she has two each year. I will be calling her later as its early here in sunny England, and still middle of night there. I hope you all that have children get to spend time with them likewise if you have a mum spend time with her. I miss mine but we do chat 2 or 3 times a week, and we write letters every week, she looks forward to them

    To Everyone.

Today we went grocery shopping and stopped at Penny's, I bought my youngest DD some tops for her birthday Monday and my oldest DD bought her 2 CD's. I already got my Mother's Day gifts, my oldest DD gave me an IPod it is the Nano one, and my youngest DD got me a case for it and she is giving me a gift certificate for ITunes so I can download some songs. My oldest DD also bought us Chinese food for lunch. I went to ITunes and had to download the Itune software and it took almost 7 hours for it to download, it is installed now and naturally I had to check out the store. Oh another thing my DD had the IPod engraved on the back.

I wanted to wish you all Happy Mothers Day just in case I get busy and don't get back today. My DD said she was coming over but I don't know what time she will get here. It is late so I better get myself to bed.

Adding some hugs and prayers to the basket.

    Happy Mother's Day!

Beth, all our children are far away, so we will be spending Mother's Day alone also.

The weathermen promise us a good day with temperatures actually going into the 70's, but it's all down hill tomorrow on.  I saw the awful storms they had in the west, so I'm not complaining.

Wishing you all a wonderful day,

    Mabel

Good morning all.  Just wanted to stop in for a minute before I have to start running.  Hope you all have  a fantastic day.  It is supposed to be rainy and windy all day here.  Not sure just how we are going to manage a cookout in this,or more importantly where we are going to eat at DD's.  Oh well, I'm sure that we will manage.  Got up early to finish delivering the papers, but decided against it in this rain.  Boy have I become a sissy.  I delivered 500 everyday regardless of the weather.  Guess the fact that I don't have a schedule with these makes a difference.

Zora, wish that Norm could come your way to mow, but it is DS who is doing the mowing now.  He did finish all of them yesterday, now just have to wait for the stragglers who wait til the last minute to call.

The other day someone mentioned missing socks, for years both Norm and I wore the same ones, the men's black or navy arcrylic ones so we always have pairs. As I come across those that Norm had worn a hole in, I just tossed it and grabbed another just like it.  I'm about down to all good ones now.  The kids said that they thought that I had enought socks not to wash for six months, don't think it was that bad, more like a month.

Guess my mind still isn't awake, guess I'll go get my shower.  Have to meet DD and kids in an hour for breakfast, then church.  Think that I'll make some brownies for this afternoon.  The kids all love them with the Andies chips on top.  You all have a good day.   Pat

Good morning everyone, and Happy Mother's Day.  Scott, Daisy and the pair of donkeys each gave me a jigsaw puzzle a piece, and the girls each gave me a nightie gown...see some lazy days in my future.  Sweet Walt gave me my own GPS handheld unit so I can geocache whenever without waiting for him to be available.  Whoohhooooo won't I be cute in my new nightie searching for Tupperware?

Hope everyone has a beautiful and wonderful day.

Good Morning again. Boy is it ever windy here, whoever named Chicago the Windy city had never been  down here because I don't think Chicago has anything on us. LOL I think we are in for somemore rain today.

Rosie it sounds like you had a very nice Mother's Day so far. Have funwith your new puzzles.

The cats got me up a little after 6 and I am ready to go back to bed. There is nothing on TV this early in the morning, and I don't feel like reading. Maybe I'll try the games on the IPod, I don't have any music on it yet and I have to stay off the Internet just in case my DS tries to call me.

I better get off the computer and go check on the cats.

Again Happy Mother's Day to all my CS friends.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you,

Haven't heard anything from my kids as of now but they probably are still sleeping.  Nothing special planned for today.

Rosie, I think it would be worth the gas to drive up by your place to see you geocaching in your nitie LOL.  Also, will your GPS agree with Walt's when you take a drive together????

Zora, I remember Bob working on Mother's day many of times.  In fact most holiday's he worked. I always thought it would be so great when he retired that he would be here for holiday's but it isn't the same when he's home every day.

Cats, I didn't know that cats got a person up in the morning.  Thought they just did there own thing all the time.  Maybe you can tell that I'm not a cat lover.

Margaret E.  Just what is the time differance between where you are and the USA?  I'm terrible about figuring out time zones.

Time to go jump in the shower and get my day started.

Keeping all the sick ones in prayer.

    Beth

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.

Hugs to all who have a rough time over this holiday too. You are all loved!

I love all the beautiful siggies. Ladies you are talanted.

Off to early worship service and then the family is coming in. Last year of spending Mom's Day with my youngest son before they head for the "hills" of Denver.

    Wishing all a great day.

                    Happy Mother's Day!

You would think that going to bed at 3:00AM would ensure sleeping late. Sitting up watching TV, listening to the wind howl, checking on kids, waiting for DD to get off work did not aid in the "slumber" department. At 6;45 this morning I was fighting the bed, thoughts of hot coffee running through my head.

Zora--Your Mockingbird can easily mimic your baby chicks. An even better songster is the Common Grackle that are as abundant as Sparrows. They can even imitate human words like a parrot.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you. I hope you are able to share it with your families.

Not much going on in northeast Florida. Our temps are starting to tease the 90º mark and my 'gym workout buddy' says it "might" be warm enough to go swimming and do our water aquacise next week.... *brrrr.. shiver !*

TAM ... {aka "our Cookin' Seniors Mother Hen} .... We miss you ! To Stan, and your sisters, ... I think we are all feeling your loss today. Your Mom was one great lady !

Has anyone read any of Joanne Fluke's Mystery books? The main character has a cafe called the "Cookie Jar" and she includes recipes in her books just like Diane Mott Davidson does. Cute storyline, easy reading, and Robert loved one of the recipes I made. Check her out, but do start and read the books in order as she brings characters forward into later books. You'll LOVE her Cat, "Moishe" - he has a personality of his own!

    Hugs to all, filling up the basket with some prayers for those who need them and Maggie left some extra treats in the dogbowl. {She hates her new "haircut"}
