    Happy Sunday!

    Good Morning June Mommies!

Hope everyone has an extra special day today.  Don't really have anything planned here.  We will go see my mom later this 'saft.

It is rainy and windy here so no outside anything for today.

Yesterday morning I spent running around to all the yard sales. Actually found a couple neat things.  I collect vintage kitchen ware,  I found a copper tin gravy shaker (.25) and a white enamel tray (1.00).  Also another doilly for my collection (.25)  Two items for Sam's new room, a metal canister that has neat wildlife prints on it (.10) and a ceramic fish pen/pencil holder (.10).  Also a neat china divided little mint dish - very pretty (.10).  I should take a pic of them for you.  I washed them all up earlier. Oh, and I found 3 pair of like new jeans for Ben, good brands for 1.00 each.

We went to the fire dpt. for lunch, they had a brat fry with proceeds going to one of the EMTs, she has cancer. We know her.

Royce rototilled the garden, the boys were picking out the clumps of grass/weeds for me.  I worked on the flower bed on the back side of the shop.  Planted a couple new flowers and weeded it good. It is now ready for me to put down the weed stop, border it and put the stones in there.  I'll take pics as I go along.  My tulips are so pretty there right now.  They are the double ones.

We also got the lawn mowed and trimmed.  Came in the house about 6:30 , took a shower and crashed the rest of evening in front of the TV with the heating pad!  lol

Re: June Cleaver Club Sunday 5/11/08 "Happy Mother's Day"

Happy Mothers Day to everyone out there.

Margie sounds like you have a full day planned. Step mother will just have to get a ladder and get over it. You were just there Friday. Your day sounds as stretched as you can get it.

Patti, you did great on the yard sales. Your garden sounds so nice, even with nothing in it (LOL). At least it isn't buried in snow. I wish I had not told registry would work a 3-11. Especially not this one. I suspect it is another nursing home and this one had all kinds of bad publicity last year. Don't really want to work it because have to be up at 3:30 in the morning. That is why I tried to sleep later today. I actually did sleep until 6:30 which is good for me. Maybe they will cancel. I am not doing any more weird shifts to suit their fancy even if it means I am really really tight on money. They have really been jerking me around for the last 3 or 4 weeks and I'm not thrilled. I just have to get through the next 4 or 5 weeks then I can give them notice and not sign up for any more shifts.   Anyway have sunday school and church and then registry and then straight to sleep and then straight to work in the morning and then to the doctor appointment. Really am hoping they will cancel and I can just work Thursday if they have hours for me.

I'm still not sure when my orientation will be for Banner. Thanks for all your prayers. Hopefully all my whining about registry will be over soon. I'm hoping the orientation  can still be the week of June 2 and June 9 (two week orientation, one for general, one for computerized charting) since the post office gave me off those two weeks and it is hard to get time off in the summer and since I need to get it done ASAP.. If I run into problems getting into that one, rehab might help a bit to get them to fit me in. They want me now, but they can't have me until I get through the orientation. Going back to acute rehab, which is where I was when I was a new grad. Extremely heavy on med-surg, but with a twist. You get really good at trach care, pin care, wound care, and catheterization and a wide variety of neuro, cardio, ortho, trauma, burns things, you name it (but heavy on the neuro because of the head injury patients, the spinal cord injury patients, the stroke rehab patients. Good thing is you get to know the patients better because they are in there for longer time and it is wonderful to see the progress they make in that short time -). And a lot of interdisciplinary cooperation between the doctors and nurses and therapists and things. I liked rehab, just didn't like working 2 full time jobs. At that time, there were no tier 1 positions. It was either the float team or full time on a floor. They have a hard time finding experienced nurses, especially experienced rehab nurses. Most of their nurses have either been there 20 or 30 years or they are relatively new grads who have been trained in rehab.

    Anyway have a great day.

Hope you all get to eat out and don't have to cook :-)

Re: June Cleaver Club Sunday 5/11/08 "Happy Mother's Day"

Good Morning Ladies, and Happy Mother's day! Hope everyone enjoys their day today, whatever you decide to do. I'm having the BEST Mother's day I've ever had! Actually, the entire weekend had been nice. Last night dh and I went to the car cruise. We had a lot of fun, and the people were friendly. DH didn't win a trophy for his car, but there will be other chances. I treated dh to taco bell for dinner. We got home after 8:30, the cruise was supposed to end at 9, but it got cold and windy so they ended it a little early.

Today has been great so far. The weather is absolutley perfect, sunny, and temperatures close to 70. It's warming up nice. This morning before we even got out of bed, dh suggested taking me out to breakfast. To wake up a little, we had a cup of coffee here at home, and dh gave me my present. he bought me two pair of spring pajamas. They are cotton, with a long top, and capri style bottoms. One is light pink and the other a mint green. I got a beautiful card too. Pretty good for just a step mom!!  After breakfast we stopped at the cemetary, then we needed a few things at BJ's.DH even made me coffee when we got home. I've never been pampered so much in my life!! I don't even have to cook dinner tonight. WE're getting take out, but not sure yet what we want to eat. DH is puttering around outaide, and I have a few things to do here in the house. Hopefully I will get a chance to sit outside sometime today. WE may take a walk later on too.

Re: June Cleaver Club Sunday 5/11/08 "Happy Mother's Day"

This is always one of my favorite emails going around:

Mom and Dad were watching TV when Mom said, "I'm tired, and it's getting late. I think I'll go to bed."

She went to the kitchen to make sandwiches for the next day's lunches,
    rinsed out the popcorn bowls,
took meat out of the freezer for supper the following evening,
    checked the cereal box levels,
    filled the sugar container,
put spoons and bowls on the table and started the coffee pot for brewing the next morning.

She then put some wet clothes into the dryer,
put a load of clothes into the wash,
ironed a shirt and secured a loose button.

She picked up the newspapers strewn on the floor,
picked up the game pieces left on the table
and put the telephone book back into the drawer.
    She watered the plants,
emptied a wastebasket and hung up a towel to dry.
She yawned and stretched and headed for the bedroom.

She stopped by the desk and wrote a note to the teacher,
counted out some cash for the field trip,
and pulled a textbook out from hiding under the chair.
She signed a birthday card for a friend,
addressed and stamped the envelope and wrote a quick note for the grocery store.
She put both near her purse.

    Mom then creamed her face,
    put on moisturizer,
    brushed and flossed her teeth
    and trimmed her nails.

Hubby called, "I thought you were going to bed."
"I'm on my way," she said.
She put some water into the dog's dish and put the cat outside,
then made sure the doors were locked.
She looked in on each of the kids and turned out a bedside lamp,
    hung up a shirt,
threw some dirty socks in the hamper,
and had a brief conversation with the one up still doing homework.

In her own room, she set the alarm,
laid out clothing for the next day,
    straightened up the shoe rack.
She added three things to her list of things to do for tomorrow.

About that time, the hubby turned off the TV and announced to no one in particular "I'm going to bed,"
    and he did.
In summer, the song sings itself.

Re: June Cleaver Club Sunday 5/11/08 "Happy Mother's Day"

    Hi ladies,

Hope you are all having a nice Mother's Day!!  The boys brought me up a beautful tray with roses from the yard, a goblet of OJ, a bowl of fruit and scrambled eggs.  Of course there were hugs and kisses  too - that was my favorite part!!

Dowie, I love that e-mail too - I printed it out!!

Denise, glad to hear you are having such a nice weekend.  Those car cruises are neat.  I haven't had taco bell in ages - we love their tacos.

Sherry, sorry you have to work today - have a good one!

Margie, can you post a picture of your swing? Glad you are going to see your family today - James' step-mom can just wait!!  LOL

Patti, sounds like you got a ton of yard work done yesterday - doesnt' that feel good to ge so much accomplished?  Especially later, with the heating pad - LOL  Can't wait to see your pictures.

Cherie, have a good day at work.  I was at wal-mart last night and it was really crowded with last minute mother's day shoppers.  Wonder if it will be the same today.  I agree with Dowie, good behavior is the best Mother's day present!!

We don't have any plans for today.  We were invited to my mother's house - but I would just rather stay home and hang out with my crew.  My mom was totally fine with that.  Ray and I are going to go out later and look at microwaves or dishwashers - we need both so we will just look and decide which takes priority.  (probably micro since it is totally kaput!)    Ray is still sleeping.  He got called out to work last night - not for a job though.  The security company called at 2 am telling him that the burgler alarm went off, so Ray went down there to check everything out - we live about 45 mins from his office so he didn't get home til almost 5am, so that is why he is still in bed.

    Have a great day, everyone

    Kathleen

Good Afternoon (Morning to the West Coasters)!!

Really quick.  Hoping my computer doesn't decide to shut off -- AGAIN.  No big plans for the day.  DH cleaned up the kitchen and dining room this morning.  Kids brought me breakfast (cereal and muffins DD and I made last evening) in bed.  DH went and bought me a paper.  Now I am just being flat out lazy.  Might try to do some scrapbooking.  My knee is really giving me fits.  We are going to take the kids swimming today.  There is a real nice indoor pool complete with slides.  They always have fun.  Dinner will be steak, baked potatoes, salad and not sure what else yet.  DH will be grilling and I'll probably get him to convince the kids to scrub, stab and microwave the potatoes.

Have a wonderful mothers day all!!

Good afternoon.   Have driven many many miles in the past 3 days but we are home.  :)  Drove much of Friday in rain.  Got there and had dinner then packed up rest of Holly's stuff.  Scott could have taken more but felt he was full up.  Anyway, we managed to squeeze everything in our 2 cars and full we were.  Graduation began at 8:30 am and only went for 1 hr.  Speaker was good and then we met up with Holly, said good bye and she came home we went on to visit Ed's family.  Had a nice visit and many people were at dinner (22 of us) then left early and got back here about 11:20am.  Unloaded, ate lunch with all but Ginger and now are home.  Ahh, nice to be back.  Will email some pics of us and Holly at grad.

Hope you all have a great day and Happy Mother's Day to the Mom's.

Re: June Cleaver Club Sunday 5/11/08 "Happy Mother's Day"

    Hi again,

Hope you all are having a nice afternoon/evening.

Ray, Tommy and I went to Lowes earlier to look at microwaves and dishwashers.  We were both surprised at the poor selection.  We will definetely look around.

I ran to the grocery store today too.  Donnie's teachers' birthday is tomorrow and the other 7th grade teacher is organizing a little party for her with the 2 7th grade classes.  Donnie wants to bring in my chocolate chip cookies and I was out of chips, so I picked up those among a few other things.

I am making an oreo cake for dessert - it is baking right now.  Still not sure what is for dinner, but today is flying by so I better decide, huh?  I am leaning towards ordering pizza - no cooking and easy clean-up.  Will see what Ray thinks though.

Well I haven't made a dent in my mountain of laundry so at this point will just do what needs to be done for tomorrow (school/work uniforms)

Re: June Cleaver Club Sunday 5/11/08 "Happy Mother's Day"

Wow Ladies....I am so impressed with all this wonderful clip art!  I don't know how to do that yet.....but of course, my teenagers do!  Maybe all those years of raising children will pay off after all! LOL

Today has been a nice Mother's Day for me....my twin daughters (17) worked all week while I was out of town to do a yard makeover for me.  It was such a big surprise! Now all of the flower beds are weeded and fluffed with nice pine needles.  They also did some new plants and even transplanted a beautiful ornamental peach tree just in front of my kitchen window.  It was the best gift they have ever given me!

My youngest son (19) came by yesterday and brought one of those cute musical cards.  My oldest son (22) called today, but missed me since I was on my way with my hubby to visit his mom (and my cell phone was dead!).  We went to church, where every mom was given a nice gift of lotion (smelled like baby powder).  We then drove about an hour to see my MIL, who made a great lunch for her family and refused to let us help her clean it up.

Hope all of you enjoyed your day too.  My thoughts today are with those whose moms have passed away....as well as those moms who have lost their children.  God bless them.

    There's always time for gingerbread!

Re: June Cleaver Club Sunday 5/11/08 "Happy Mother's Day"

Good evening to everyone.  I am home from work and nervously sitting here watching the weather.  We have a tornado warning out.  It's now in the town east of us heading this way at 38mph.  Being in this double wide freaks me out with weather like this.  It's been really windy all day and now it is still outside.  Not a good sign.    Andy has assured me that God likes us and he wouldn't send a tornado this way!  Got to love the boy!  I just looked at the radar and the cell looks like it is moving a little north.  I bet Andy is right!  LOL!  Well, I got the kids dressed with shoes on just in case!  Kate says she's bored now and wants to go somewhere.  I guess after it passes we'll head to Sonic for an icecream cone.  I eat when I'm nervous.  Well, just checked the radar and it went a little north, we got the bottom of it.  It's heading out to sea.  I'm glad Andy was right.

My mother's day started with a kiss from Kate.  I went to work at 8.  Had to work in the bakery again.  No cake decorator and the shelf was empty.  So I decorated 15 cakes to help out. Then my older son and dil and grandkids came by to do some shopping.  I helped them pick out some summer clothes for our trip.  I went to Mexican lunch with a co worker.  Came back to work and didn't do much of anything for the last couple of hours!  I came home and Kate made hamburger helper (I hate that stuff!)  I ate the courtesy half bowl full.  I made rice krispie treats and mixed up some brownie cookies.  I put a pan in the oven and the oven won't stay lit.  So, the dough is going in the fridge for a later date when I want to deal with it!  Oh, Andy called me at work earlier and told me happy mother's day.  I'm glad the kids remembered!

I work 10-10 tomorrow again.  3 more work days until vacation!!!!!  Not that I'm counting or anything!  Hope you all hade a wonderful day.

Hugs and love to you all.

    Cherie
