ISO a breakfast casserole recipe - a french toast bake thingy

I had it at a restaurant this morning & it was very good.  It had two layers of plain sandwich bread, laid flat in the pan, between the layers was a Cinnamon brown sugar mixture with apples and raisins.  I'm guessing it had an egg mixture poured over it.  I'm not sure if it's an over night thing or not.  It was very tasty!  Anyone come across a recipe like that?

It must be considered a stuffed version..because there is a layer of bread on the bottom - laid flat - and a layer on top - also laid flat.  In the pan, it reminded me of cornbread..because all you see when it's uncut is bread.

What was the name of the resturant? Can you call them and ask what the name of the item is? Sounds like something IHOP has sometimes. Stuffed French Toast.

It was a local diner, we're too far in the boonies for a chain Wink

One of my T-ball mom's is a waitress there, I'll have to ask her if she can get me the recipe.  I thought for certain one of the cooks on here would have tried something like this.

    BAKED FRENCH TOAST CASSEROLE
2 loaves sour dough bread (crusts removed)
    1 pkg. of cream cheese
    1 tbsp. sugar
    1 tart apples
    6 eggs
    1 c. milk
    1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Cut bread in half, layer half in casserole dish. Pat on cream cheese. Sprinkle on sugar and slices of tart apple. Add rest of bread and repeat. Pour mixture of eggs, milk and cinnamon over all. Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes

I would just texas toast slices instead of the sourdough. I am sure this will be the same.
