I made the cookies on page 47....chocolate cherry cookies...they are very tasty....but the cookie dough was interesting....I must have not cooled the melted chocolate and butter enough and the dough was sorta like heavy cake batter.....so I put it into the refrig for the second batch and it was much better....still NOT like regular cookie dough...and they spread out so I only put 9 cookies per cookie sheet...they are not to sweet...here is the recipe for those who will not buy the magazine...
8 1oz squares semisweet chocolate
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chips
1 cup dried cherries
1 cup slivered almonds
melt 8 oz chocolate and butter....max 2 minutes in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds....COOL completely....in large bowl combine eggs, sugar, vanilla and almond extract...beat till fluffy....add in COOLED chocolate mix..beat in flour, salt and baking powder.....add in chips, cherries and nuts....
350 degrees......drop by tablespoonsful 2 inches apart....bake for 10-12 minutes....let cool 2 minutes and remove to a rack....cool completely...
I used a combo of bitter and semi sweet baking chocolate and then bitter sweet chips....not enough dried cherries so I added cried cranberries to make the cup and I used walnuts....the cookies are not overly sweet...nice smooth taste and very flaky on top....
