ATTN: MOMMA NIGHT OWLETTES!

So, did everyone have a wonderful and blessed Mother's Day?  I'll get this post started and be back! 

I have a question for all of you--do you do the White Carnation for a deceased Mom and a pink one for a living Mom?  I went to the store yesterday to get carnations for Mom and I  and they looked at me like I had two heads--they never heard of such a thing!  I ended up with a corsage, but it isn't what I wanted--Please tell me that this isn't just a Pittsburgh thing??? 

Hi Bonnie!  Happy Mother's Day to you also!  we do White Roses for deceased mothers and Red Roses for Mothers still alive.  I'm sure some around here also do carnations but most everyone here does roses.  Maybe because roses are always in bloom on Mother's day!  We  had a very quite day here.  Went to Church then home and ate leftovers out of the ref.  DS in flew in to Memphis today about noon from New Orleans and leaves tomorrow for Hawaii so he didn't feel like making a two hour drive to see me and he gave me my Mother's day present about two weeks ago, and DD coming home this Friday for her cousin's High School graduation and she's two hours away.......so very lonely around here today.

Hi Bonnie, I never even heard of wearing one for any mom  on mothers day, just giving one to your mom.

I did get a very nice gift from DH....A new car!  I know I wasn't supposed to get it til this fall with the crop money but we stopped Saturday and looked and they made such a good deal we went ahead and bought now.  Sure hope we're not sorry!!!!  With economy the way it is I'm scared what will happen next!

 Good evening Bonnie!  I've never heard of the significance of the colored carnations either....sorry!  I basically live in your "old area" too....but can't say I'm familar with the meaning.  

So how did you spend the day?  Did you and D-MIL attend Mother's Day mass?  I really didn't do a whole lot today......I went grocery shopping this morning, made a roasted chicken for dinner and spent some time with Granny.  She likes when I lay next to her and talk while she's resting....so that's what I did.  I only stayed about a half hour.....she was tired this afternoon.

It is storming outside.....lots of wind and rain.  DD is leaving for Myrtle Beach on his Harley in the morning.....doesn't look like the weather is going to cooperate.

 So sorry you had a lonely Mother's Day!  Since I don't have any kids, my Mother's Days are all about everyone else.  I'm baking cookies tonight for my blood drive tomorrow.  I couldn't do anything all day as DH was resting  

 Happy Mother's Day, Paula!  Congrats on the new car!  What did you get?

Hi Kim!  Yes, D-MIL and I went to mass this morning--I didn't think he would EVER SHUT UP!  We got there about 9:30 for 10:00 mass, and we were still in mass at 11:40!  That wouldn't have been so bad, except for the way he words things--for example, he was complaining about the way people dress--I agree that you should dress for church--I'm from the old school of your "special Sunday Go-to-Meetin' Clothes", and D-MIL and I dress accordingly.  He was commenting on the spaghetti straps and such, and said, "When you come up to communion, I want to be able to say, "The Body of Christ" not "Christ What a Body!""  Can you believe he said such a thing--and in church to boot!  Is it just me or isn't that using the Lord's name in vain?  I almost walked out. 

Red Nissan Altima.  I wanted a Camry or Avalon but I drove this and it drives like a dream and pretty much same price the Nissan salesman just made things happen where the Toyota Salesman didn't!  Drove it home last night in all the crazy storms popping around us had to drive way out of our way to keep from driving right into the storm but we finally got in behind it and gosh did it do more damage!  We can't stand much more of this crazy weather.  I got my car now so we HAVE to get this rice crop in the ground!!! 

Oh Bonnie !  I thought our minister did a horrible job this morning!  but I think your's takes the cake!  Our Minister is so silly, he says something that he thinks is funny and it really isn't but then he get tickled at himself and absolutely makes a fool out of himself giggling and carring on almost like Rev. Wright!  I think we will get a new Minister in June.  We're certainly praying for one!  I can't even tell you what his sermon was about.  It just didn't go anywhere!!!  It made no sense.  Oh well I was really there for My Mother!

 Bonnie - I agree!  I think that was a completely inappropriate comment to make in church!  Sometimes I just don't get it!

Paula - Your car sounds wonderful!  Good luck with it and may you be blessed with many years of safe driving!!
