    • Two BIG beautiful surprises yesterday!! Anne and Sally-it was a wonderful Mother’s Day surprise to see you both.  It just made my day.  I hope you both took some hugs and prayers with you as I had put out some extra baskets too for us to fill for ya’ll.

Astronomy clubs and groups use this day to help teach the people about the stars, and other celestial bodies in the universe. These groups take advantage of this day to offer people a view of the stars through a telescope if possible.

    •  Filling the prayers basket and hugs basket!  Don’t forget to add lots of extra prayers for Russell’s fast recovery and hugs for NancyZ!  Also for Anne and her family!  Don’t forget the extra baskets!!

    Good Morning Everyone!
I have just read yesterday’s posts. A nice surprise to see Sally and Anne. I hope both have quick recoveries. A stop from Gat, Susie and Mary was great too.
I have not been here for a couple of days. Saturday I spent a lot of the day binding the quilt for DD’s friend who has had a mastectomy.  Got it done and then of course there are the things that just have to be done like meals etc.Sunday morning it was raining so I guess that is why we slept late then I we all met at Chili’s for lunch but the wait would have been 1½ hours so we went to O’Charley’s and only had about a 30 minute wait. There were 8 of us so it was a fun time. The two younger DGC were there and that makes for a fun time.  Then they came here to take home some of the coconut cake that I made earlier in the week it was ready to cut. DD#2 took some to her friend too when she delivered the quilt.  So we will only be tempted today with ¼ of the cake.
Peg, you are right some of the storms moved across our area but all of them have moved to the north of us. Yesterday as DD#1 and family went home (about an hour+ away) they saw one,  the storm cell had just moved across the area where they were driving. Of course I had to call to see if they got home alright. We mothers do worry don’t we?
Rosie, good to see that you dropped by to see us, we miss your chatty posts you know.
Margaret E, good to see you early this morning, have a nice day.
Astronomy Day, that is a fun one. We have a telescope that we used to use a lot. I think the mirror needs to be re-coated or something anyway we have not used it in a couple of years.  I can pick out a few stars and planets. I remember the first time we saw Saturn with our telescope, we all see pictures of the rings and to see it and realize you are seeing it for real and not just a picture was a thrill.  We also had an early morning ‘star party’ one Saturday, then I served breakfast on the picnic table. That was several years ago but good memories.
I am adding hugs, prayers and well wishes to all the baskets as I repeat the group prayer.
I will try to get the recipes posted after breakfast.  Now I better get the coffee started and the day going.
    Wishing Everyone A Happy Day!
     Lois

    Good Morning Everyone,

Anne, so nice to see you back, you were missed!   Now just sit back and get your strength back!

Sally, I'm so sorry you had your fall and are in such pain.  Will certainly keep the prayers coning!

Yesterday was a beautiful day, but very lonesome.   I mowed the lawn, trying to keep busy, but unfortunately I still think the whole time I'm working.   Holidays are hard when everyone around you are with their families, but the kids all called last night, so I shouldn't complain.   Floyd had a bad day yesterday, and there isn't anything I can do for him.

Today I'm off to the VA, hopefully they will keep me too busy to do much thinking.

Wishing you all a wonderful day,

    Mabel.

Margaret (E), that is nice that you are helping out your neighbor. Hope your day is a good one!!
Lois, good to see you. We missed you while you were quilting!! Sounds like you had a nice Mother’s Day. We go past Olive Garden going to Dad’s…OMG!!! At 5pm that place was packed!!!
Mabel, sorry you had a blue day. Sorry Floyd didn’t have a good day…that makes it hard. I missed my sweet little Mom all weekend but I was “talking” to her!! Sending you an extra & special hug, my friend!!
Beth, I got your email and responded but got a notice this morning that it wasn’t delivered yet!! ??? LOL But THANK YOU!!! Love it!!! Maybe the email will come out of the clouds and to you today!! LOL

    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

Top of the morning to everyone.

ZORA~~I love the thought for the day!!!  Great 'happy thoughts' to live by in your siggy too.

LOIS~~The idea of a "star party" is wonderful. I love that. Our family has enjoyed the telescopes we've had over the years too. We used to spread blankets on the lawn and go lay out in the yard and take turns looking through the telescope at whatever Heavenly Wonder was our topic for the evening.

Now it's more like run out...look...run back in. We really should get back to it more. Maybe today is a good day to start.

    Yeah, on the quilting!

MABEL~~Sorry you had a rough day yesterday but I'm glad you got to talk to your kids.

I tried not to think about this being the last mom's day with my youngest. Had to swallow hard a few times though.

SOOOOO good to see ANNE and SALLY yesterday. Get well soon, dear friends. We miss you terribly when your not here.

I am curious to hear how the remodel turned out, ANNE. Only when you get up to it though...Take care of yourself first and foremost.

Great to see some of the others who stopped by yesterday too.

SHERRY~~I'm not a bit surprised that your in charge of the reunion. YOU are amazing when it comes to organizing things. I NEED you !

PAT~~What radio show does your son do? Is this the one who is a realator? (Sp??)

CE~~I will check out those books by that author. I wrote it down. I loved the other ones with the cooking storyline.

Does anyone know if those storms came near RANDI?

Sorry this has to be a quick post again. The kiddos are coming and I'm not ready.

I will get the cake pics sent to you ZORA but you will have to forgive me if it's late. Some days I feel like the rabbit in 'Alice'

This weekend it's a cake for my DDIL (youngest son's wife) who is graduating UWO with honors. (She is the one who got the job in Denver). No special requests to be put on this cake though. LOL

TTFN and take care of yourselves.

    Tippy

A quick question for anyone who knows mushrooms....

Yesterday my oldest son found Morel mushrooms growing on our property. My DH has been mowing them off!!!  We didn't know what they were and how sought after they are. I have never eaten them before yesterday.

    Now the ?

How do I fix them to get the most out of them?

I guess they are $60 a pound at the store.

    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

    ·         Good morning everyone!  I do hope the storms missed you and your days were happy yesterday.

    ·         Zora, I like your new siggie, and it is good advice we should all follow.  Oooo and I love the thought of the day.  I’ve known a few people like that along the way.

    ·         Grub, when I read your posts I hear my friend Sue talking with all her inflections and her beautiful accent.  Her address reads “Nr Boston, Lincs” and it is somewhere around London.  I have been fortunate to visit with her when she has come to the states a couple of times.

    ·         Hi Lois, before I forget Diners, Drive Ins and Dives were in Charlotte last night at a place called Penguins…thought of you and wondered if you had been there.  Sounds like you had quite the day yesterday.  We are celebrating with my brother tomorrow going to our favorite restaurant for fried shrimp…yum.  No grandkids though L  Alas, our telescope is toast, thinking Walt needs one for Father’s Day.  Like the idea of the early morning star party.  Understand about the rings of Saturn…like kids in a candy store.  Walt devised a way to rig up the camera to the telescope and caught a bird flying across on one of the shots.  He convinced the kids for years that it was a “Moon Bird”.

    ·         Mabel, I hope your today is happier for you.  Hug.  Since you haven’t mentioned it, I assume you and the copy machine came to an understanding?

    ·         Oh Cilla, this weather is so silly…we are 96 one day and have to wear a sweat shirt the next..it is Texas in May for goodness sakes, we should be sweltering.  Glad you and your Mom had a good visit yesterday.  Daddy and I “talk” all the time, everything from sharing a joke to news items.  I am assuming you are taking it easy these days (arching eyebrow in your general direction).

    ·         Tippy, slow down child….at least long enough to pick me up….and we’ll go varooming.

    ·         So what did everyone think of Survivor last night…darn darn darn…I am so excited they are going to film the next one in HD.  Walt and I have talked about it being the perfect show for the HD venue.  Just hope it is true HD and not the “get by”.

    ·         We are off to the doctor’s office in a bit.  They forgot to tell us to fast for blood work when we went for our physicals so we have to run in this morning.  Oh shucks, it means a stop at IHOP afterwards….grin.  Best go put out some peanuts, Howie and his brothers are dog fighting in the tree…what a racket.  I was all excited yesterday because I had a painted bunting come visit.  He was spooky so I didn’t have a chance to get a great picture, but for those that have never seen one before may I present the newest member of my bird family….Picasso

Good Morning. Glad most of you had a nice Mother's Day.

Mabel I am so sorry you had a blue day, hope Floyd is feeling better today. Yes talking the Kids does cheer us up, glad you got to talk to yours.

I had a nice day yesterday, my DS called me at 9 AM to wish me a Happy Mother's Day and my oldest DD came over at 1 PM to visit with us. My youngest gave me a $25 dollar gift certificate for ITunes so we spent most of the day there checking out the songs. We downloaded 7, now my youngest DD has decided that she would like to have an IPod too.

I didn't get back later yesterday, I guess Anne and Sally checked in after I posted, I will have to go and read the rest of the messages.

Today is my youngest DD's birthday, she is 33. I asked her if she would like me to cook dinner but she said no she likes to cook. We are having a BLT Chicken Taco Salad which sounds good to me.

    Zora enjoy your day.

I have to tell you what a crazy thing I did yesterday. I made up some Hummingbird food, I made the homemade sugar water one. The thing I did wrong this time, I put to much sugar and didn't realize it until late last night. I sure hope I haven't hurt any of the Hummingbirds. This morning I poured out the rest of the mixture that was in the feeder and put in some fresh mixture, next time I will have to be more careful.

I have tons of things to do, so I better get started on them.

Leaving some extra hugs and prayers in the basket.

    Good morning all,

Sounds like a lot of you had a good Mother's Day.

I had so much sleep last nite that I'm really working today. Got up at 5:30 a.m. and have all my laundry done so far except the last load is in the dryer. Everything is folded so far also.

It was so good to see Anne and Sally back here. Hoping you recup fast and can come on regular again.

Mary, good to see you also.

Lois, bet your quilt will really make your DD's friend feel better after her mastectomy. Hope she will be alright.

Mabel, to bad we don't live closer, we could feel sorry for ourselves together. I heard from my boys yesterday but my DD probably sent a card and it didn't get here yet. Is Floyd better today?

Cilla, we have your hot and humid weather around here also. Generally runs in the 90's most days. Your email didn't get here yet, probably out in cyber space along with all the posts that go floating away.

Tippy, give your DIL Congratulations from me on her graduation.

We went to Applebee's yesterday about 4 and it wasn't overly crowded, only had to wait a few minutes. At 5 the place seemed just empty out all of a sudden. We love there ribs. Now if I could only figure out how to make them like theres, sigh.

Going to friends house tonite for dinner and cards along with another couple. I owe so many dinners it will take me all winter to make them up again. I so cook for these people when they come back down for the winter. Many times the day they get back so they don't have to head for the grocery store before unpacking. Seems to work for all of us.

Buzzer just called my name so will run for now.

    Mornin’ folks,

I am concerned about Margaret, I know that she lives close to the border of Okla and Mo. That is where the tornados went through with tons of damage.

It was so good to see Anne and Sally yesterday. I hope that you both are on the road to recovery.

Rosie that is a very unusual bird, we don’t have anything like that around here.

Cilla I would be thrilled if we could reach 83, in the 40’s when I got up this morning.

Mabel you need an extra hug this morning, ((((Mabel)))). If I were just a little closer I would come over so we could visit awhile.

Margaret E. enjoy the park this afternoon.

Cats that salad that you are having tonight does sound good.

Tippy, I soak the mushrooms in salt water because they are full of TINY bugs, I redo the water several times as the bugs come out. Then dip them in a beaten egg and then in cracker crumbs and fry in Butter Crisco, yum, they are so good.

Zora when we go camping, (which we won’t get to do till it gets lots warmer), at night as we sit outside, we usually talk about the stars and the wonder of just seeing so many.

Lois the more you mention that coconut cake, the more I decide that I need to make one.

Will go now as I must do laundry today because it is going to rain tomorrow. We were going to get the camper out and go for a short trip this week-end but after the forecast we have changed our mind. 60’s for highs and lows in the 40’s, since we will have both GS’s that is just to cool to be in a camper with them. Till later,

    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

Good morning from a cool Indiana, it's 60 out there & the sun is shining.

DH got a call from the neighbor this morning to come over & help haul corn, so he's gone for the day.  Called him & he said he wouldn't be late this evening, I'm glad.

Had a nice time over at DD #1's yesterday.  She had a great dinner.  Pork roast, mashed taters & corn, then a lemon bundt cake for desert, really good.

Nothing much planned for today, think I'll make some tune salad.  Will have to use up the hamburger I laid out yesterday, guess I'll make the spaghetti I planned on.  Going back to read yesterdays posts.

Hope everyone has a great day.

    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

    Good morning, CS.

Sun is out today, and yard work to be done.

ZORA, I love Astronomy, and often go out to check out the constellations. No street lights by me so seeing the sky is lot easier than in a big city. Maybe something fun for you, today.

MARGARET-E, those little ones will keep you busy for a while. Have a nice time in the park.

LOIS, the quilt will be much appreciated. I just sent a prayer shawl to a friend.

MABEL, hugs to you, my friend. I am always happy to know the VA and your card games keep you busy on a couple of days.

CILLA, I think we all have little talks with our moms. Mine has been gone a long time.

OK, TIPPY, you may be making a mortarboard and diploma  to decorate the cake. Congrats to DDIL.

ROSIE, going for blood tests sounds like me and Russell. Six restaurants a 1/4 mile from the med center to relieve the fasting syndrome. Love the bird----seems our grosbeak has missed us this year.

CATS, DD's birthday meal sounds tasty. I love my music when I'm walking at the mall.

BETH, we stayed away from the eateries yesterday. DD#1 made the meals all
