Sorry I did not make it here yesterday to wish ya'll a Happy Mothers Day so hope it was a good one for everyone.

I need to read yesterday posts and catch up on everyone.

I did make it to church and then home with Rose and family for a very good chicken dinner that  Rose fixed. had a real good time. Did not see my son's but Wayne called me Friday night and then yesterday evening Shawn called and wished me a happy mothers day and said he was sorry to be calling late I told him it was never to late to call me for anything,  He is going through a bad depression time right now and needs a lot of prayer he has had periods of depression before so sure hope this time is over soon.  but a least he is calling me now, he did go out side to make the call so his wife would not know who he called. Sure wish she would grow up.

We was under a tornado warning Saturday night from about 7 P.M. till 2 A.M. I was at the fire station for a dinner and music so we kept hearing the news that the fire chef was getting on the storms.

I have a doctor's appt. this afternoon for a checkup and blood work up hope she can figure out what is causing the back spasms I have been having for the last 3 days . well better get busy the washing machine is calling for me need to put clothes in dryer.

have a good day and I will do my best to get back here this evening.

    Ruth

Good Morning to all of you. I've been so busy the last few days, and missing a couple of them, that I didn't get to post.  I didn't even know about the tornados till I got home last night and turned my computer on.  I had a wonderful Mother's Day, and am still waiting for the gift that oldest DD sent.  If it was delivered on Saturday, I wasn't home.

Dorothy picked me up Friday evening to take me to spend the night as we were going to leave before 6:30 Sat. morning to go to Oklahoma City.  We barely missed a terrible wreck on Highway 75 on the way to her house.  Before we got to the accident we knew something terrible had happened, there were so many flashing lights ahead.  There were two cars involved, and a bunch of ambulances and a helicopter already there.  We saw both of the cars, and I couldn't imagine that there wouldn't be some fatalities.  We had to detour on a side road that was near and went through the town, and got back on the highway, about a mile farther on down.  We saw the helicopter heading to Tulsa with one of the victims.  He passed away, and was from the town I live in, but don't know him.  The victims of the other car,(a woman and 2 or 3 teenagers) were taken to the Bartlesville hospital. They were from the town youngest DD and I go grocery shopping in, about 10 or 11 miles north of here.  This was the worst accident scene I have ever witnessed, and if we had been a  few minutes or earlier, it could have been us.  Don't really know what happened, because the man who died was traveling north on the southbound lanes of a divided highway.  Don't know if alcohol was involved or a medical problem.  He was not seatbelted but the woman and teenagers were.

Saturday morning, Dorothy and I  went to Oklahoma city, and we ate at Toby Keith's restaurant in Bricktown.  It was very enjoyable.  Bricktown is a touristy attraction there, with lots of restaurants, and a canal running through the district.  It was close to the Oklahoma Federal Building Memorial.  We did not do that this time, as we did it several years ago.  After eating and messing around there, we drove to the Science Museum, and saw the traveling exhibit about the Human body.  It was such a  popular attraction, that after buying our tickets, we still had over an hour wait to get in to see it.  All in all, it was a long day.  It was very windy that day.  We got back to her home around 7:30 PM.  (2 and a half hours each way).  The dinner at Toby Keith's restaurant was my Mother's Day gift from her.

We were so tired by the time we got home, that we just rested and did not turn the TV on, or we would have heard about the warnings and storms, so I did't hear about them till after I got home yesterday and turned the computer on.  I do know that Picher, OK. (where there were 6 or 7 deaths) is an old lead mining town, where most of the population had already moved away.  The government has been trying to buy out their homes for years, because of medical problems with lead posioning.  So I feel pretty sure it will not be rebuilt.  I think the goverment will still buy them out, so they can relocate, but it will be pretty hard for them to evaluate what their houses were worth, if they didn't already have them appraised.  The other town in MO. (Seneca), was close by and had more fatalities, (16 or 17), I think I heard on the morning news.

I need to get off and help Zack with the game he is playing on Nintendo.  I'm keeping him here today. since I'm still waiting for the gift that Karla sent.  She sounded pretty upset, last night when I talked to her on the phone, because I hadn't received it yet.  Surely, the delivery people would not have left it sitting in the hall by my door in an apt. bldg. that has 60 apartments.  She was going to try to check on it today.

I'll talk to you all later.  Have a good day.

Hugs and Prayers to all the Cookin' Seniors, and their family members who need them.

Good to have you back Anne, and nice to see a post from Gat.  It took me quite a while this morning to read all the posts since I was last here.

    Good Morning Everyone!

I guess yesterday wore me out, as we slept until 9 this morning! I made some french toast with the Chocolate Cranberry Sourdough this morning. Added some cinnamon, and vanilla to the eggs and orange juice for the batter. VERY GOOD! I am going to make some more for the freezer later this week. We have company coming the 31st and I think they would like this for breakfast. Of course it is good with just butter too.

Yesterday after mass, we met the kids and some neighbors at Alfresco’s for brunch. They were busy, but were expecting us as we usually go there every Sunday after mass. (They have 4 items each month for $3.89 for breakfast)

Julie made me the cutest Grandma’s Brag Book filled with pictures that I had not seen before of Morgan and Joey. Everyone at the table had fun looking at it, so I got to brag right off the bat. LOL Joey was so funny, that kid can sure eat. You just about couldn’t get it on his plate fast enough. When he was finally done, he raised both his hands and yelled All Done! Everyone laughed, so he did it again.

After brunch, we skedaddled home and changed clothes, packed snacks and headed for the ball park. Julie, Joe and the kids went too, but met us there. Had a good time. Morgan and I sang God Bless America and Take me out to the Ball Game together during the 7th Inning Stretch. We shared my binoculars for the game, she thought that it was fun to see all the other people in the stands close up.

MARGARET~ The Marines were the armed services group at the park yesterday. I keep looking for Kyle and the Navy guys and think of him everytime the military is there on Sundays. Our next Sunday game is the 25th, so will keep my eye out for him. We were going to go to Red Lobster after the game for supper, but the parking lot was so full, there was no place to park and the line was out the door. So I got my Mother’s Day Dinner at Hooters where there were no lines and very few customers. (Doesn’t this sound like Father’s Day instead of Mother’s Day?) Anyway, I had my favorite hot wings, so was a hoppy camper after all. Went to bed by 10 last night, which is early for me.

ANNE, SALLY and GAT Good to see you all yesterday and sending hugs along with prayers for you all.

Time to start my laundry, so better get with it.

    Hugs,

    Doreen

Tippy-Ditto on Sherry's instructions for mushrooms. Except we changed to just plain cool water as we learned the salt water kills lots of the bugs before they get the chance to crawl out. We also slice them in half lengthwise. And I use the boughten cracker meal and fry nice and crispy. I also prefer bacon grease as it doesn't burn as easy. Want me to come and show you how and share, Hint, hint?

Sorry this isn't much of a post but I gotta go!

    Hugs to all.

Back again for a few minutes.  Seems I have to wait a little longer for my gift from Karla.  She checked to see if it had been delivered, and supposedly it was delivered today, but not at my apartment.  UPS got the wrong address and left it on someone else's front porch.  We don't have a front porch here, just a common area that all the residents use.  So, they put a tracking order on the original package, and are sending another one.  But she won't give me a clue as to what it is.  She said she ordered it on May 1st, and asked for delivery before Mother's day, but UPS got behind.

I might try to post back later, if I am not busy.  Our music sing-along is canceled tonight.  Too many end of school functions going on around this time of year, and our leader has a grandchild's program to attend.  I can understand how important that is.

Got a phone call from someone down the street, and he is going to deliver my package, so, I'll check back in later.

Hi All - stopping in real quick to see what's going on - will come back later to really read.

[[Anne]]        [[Sally]]     so good to see you both.

Tippy - sounds like you found a treasure trove.  You can use morels the same way you'd use any other wild mushroom - here's a fav I've been making over and over for many years - cuz everyone seems to love it.  Originally it came from Two Hot Tamales

    Mushroom and Cashew Pate

4 tbl. sweet butter (no sub)

1 lb. wild mushrooms - any kind - corsely chopped

    1/2 large onion                                   "          "

    2 cloves garlic minced

    1 tsp chili powder

    1 tsp sea salt

    1/4 tsp cumin

    1 cup roasted cashews

    2 tbl vege oil.

In a medium skillet over high heat melt butter & saute mushrooms 3 or 4 mins.  Lower heat to med., add onion, cook til translucent, then add garlic for a minute or so, then the spices.  Cook until fairly dry.  Cool

In processor fitted w/the steel blade finely chop cashews.  Then slowly drizzle in the oil til a paste forms.  Add the mushroom mixture & continue mixing til all smooth & thoroughly blended.  Put into serving bowl, cover w/plastic wrap & chill.  When ready to serve, bring closer to room temp & sprinkle top w/chopped fresh parsley (or cilantro, if you prefer)

I also have a yummy wild mushroom ravioli recipe which I'll dig out & post later.

Have 5 beds to go make - washed all the linens, but decided not to fold - just put em back from they came from - lazy way out.

    See y'll later  Peg

     tippytoes...

I lurk in here once in a blue moon, and I'm glad I did today,

I have hunted and eaten morels all my life...but I didn't know all the info from this website, and my sister became very ill last year after eating what she now thinks was a false morel...

    please check out this website:

    http://www.michiganmorels.com/morels2.shtml

If they are morels...enjoy! Oh and don't worry about them being cut down, they release their spores soon after emerging...you can never count on them being in the same place twice.

    Good afternoon, Everybody -

It looks like we had some good friends pop in yesterday......good!  waving at you!!

The orbs are not focusing today, and perhaps part of this is due to the fact that the air is wet today.  But I hope everyone is doing better today, & I have wishes, waves, & smiles for each of you - Helen
