Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

Morning!   Jake got up right on my heels this morning and I haven't had a minute to sit.    Had a nice day at my parents yesterday, we stayed outside as much as possible since it was so nice out.

Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words.  I know that person is ugly on the inside even if she is skinny, but unfortunately, an awful lot of the world judges on appearance.   I am still pretty down today, just reviewed some pics sis took of Jake on his bike and she caught me in one of them, and I am horrified.     Worse, instead of it motivating me to kick it into high gear, it just makes me want to give up and eat whatever I want because it is going to take so long to see a difference.    Swimsuit season is coming, I haven't worn shorts or a tank top in about 5 years, and it will be another long, hot summer.    But enough of my whining.

Dawn, glad you got out for a nice walk last night.   Tim's been doing a good job of leftover cleanout lately, which is rare for him.   I still get the EW newsletter, but for actual mags I get Cooking Light, TOH (Ends in Aug, not renewing), and I signed up for Health magazine which will start in June.   I dropped EW, Prevention, Fitness.     I saw on the reading thread you finished SNOWFLOWER, did you like it?   {{Dawn}}   The blah feeling is normal at the end of pregnancy too.    Sometimes the "what the hell am I doing, did we just make a huge mistake" rears it's head in the last month too.    Give me a shout if you need to talk

Jet, I would have smacked that woman flirting with DH!   LOL about the tip, good for you.    I looked at gas prices yesterday, it was about $3.65 here, but I have a grocery store promotion and at Irving stations I can get .90 off.     There is one up the street, I think they were at 3.59 yesterday.      Sad.   It's to the point that it would cost more for me to go back to work PT because we'd have to put gas in 2 cars!

Hi Debi!  I hope you get some bright sunny weather today!   This has been the ickiest spring I can remember in a long time.

Dusta, good luck at weigh in today!   Is this week 2 of Core?  How are you liking it?    Your brain is far from soupy!   You are sharp as a tack    :)    LOL about the 100lbs this morning thing.     I actually didn't say anything the day I heard her, I had my headphones on and it just happened to be while I was searching for a song I heard it.   I turned slightly to see her pointing at me, but I already knew it was me she was talking about.    I hope you have better weather today also!

It took me so long to post that that Dawn had already been back and Dusta had posted   :)

Dusta, I'm with you on the fat free dressing.  I go as low as light and that's it.   Same with cream cheese, sour cream, yogurt, light is my limit.     I don't eat mayo, at all.   Tofu and red velvet cake are two of the only foods in the universe I'm truly frightened of    LOL

Dawn, could be Sam waking you up that early too.    She's running out of room, and during the day, your movement puts her to sleep.    At night when you stop, she's awake but with nowhere to go    :)   Another sign of almost being at the finish line!

Jolene - I haven't decided if that baby advice is encouraging or not LOL!!!!!   She does have a sleeping pattern, during the weekday I can set the clock by her. She'll sleep for a while then move, let me know she's there. (like I need reminding at this point - I feel like I have a cement block tied to my stomach LOL!!!)  then she settles down & naps again. I mess her up on the weekends though - the more active I am the less she moves, I think it puts her to sleep. I do think she's a big reason for me waking up at night - if she's uncomfortable w/ my position she doesn't hesitate to let me know. Once I'm up, I start thinking, my mind wanders, she settles down & I'm up for good. I still say she's got personality & attitude already, and I'm curious as to what traits will stay once she's born :-)

I don't care for red velvet cake either. People swear it's great, but there is something about it that I just can't make myself eat it~!

editting ~ forgot to say I really liked Snowflower~! thank you for the recommendation.

LOL Dawn.    Sorry about that   :)   Oh, people say that newborns are blobs, but believe me, some do have attitude from the beginning   :)    Sam's gonna be a sassy one!

Glad you liked the book!   I've been in a rut lately, reading too many series books that I'm sick of all the characters...   I brought home a bunch of stuff from the library, hoping something will catch me.

Re: red velvet cake.   I tint frosting.  2 drops of food coloring stains my hands, table, utensils, etc.   I would never ingest a cake that takes an OUNCE of the stuff to color it red, I have nightmares of what it does to your insides!     LOL

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

Good Morning Healthy Ones! I slept in just a little this morning for a change. Well, I did wake up at 6:00 and take Mom her nexium so she wouldn't have to come downstairs just for that one pill. :) She likes to go back to sleep for a while after it.

She is still sleeping in and I hear DH watching Joyce so am going to keep it short and get off her and have coffee with DH. :)

My sister, her DH and one of their daughters came by for a visit yesterday evening and we had a nice visit and them...I fixed cheddar chicken spaghetti and a salad for supper- everyone liked it. Yesterday morning, Mom had her checkup to make sure her eye was doing well and it is doing great. Plus, we went by Rackroom shoes, Wal-mart and then met DH for lunch at Jerry's(a country restaurant). I had Mom's drops with us so we stayed on schedule with those.  I had a taco salad, so did pretty well. Mom got meatloaf and some veggies and they brought enough meatloaf for three people. lol  DH got a beef hot dog and and a bowl of chili- the first hotdog he had eaten in about 5 years. :)

Dawn, did you have a reese fo me? You know I love p-nutbutter. :) Sorry you didn't get much sleep last night.

Jolene, keep on keeping on! Just take someone's meanness and turn it into a victory for you and to spite the big ole' "Meanie" too.

Dusta, sorry you didn't get much sleep either- maybe you can catch a nap today. Mom actually took a nap yesterday afternoon while we were straightening the house a bit for my sister and her DH. She slept while DH were vacumming and I was using the dustmop on the hardwoods. She naps on the couch so she doesn't have to go upstairs. The cute thing is she says she can never take a nap at home(because of her sinus drainage)- well ...she did yesterday. :) She has been taking the mucinex and it is working well.

Off to have some coffee with DH and maybe see a hummer have some B-fast. We can see the feeders from the family room. :)

Hi Debi, Jet and all others I have missed!

    Have a lovely day! :)

    Hugs,

Oh yes she is & her dad thinks it's cute to poke & pick at her. I tell him he's going to be stuck with her, I'll hand her off & head to the park or something LOL!!!  Serves him right Wink

I got in a series rut too at the beginning of the year. All the series I like had books come out around the same time. I love a series, but I was so tired of them I could have screamed. I have two "go to" books that seem to get me motivated again. "Bet Me" by Jennifer Crusie, one of her best books ever, I think. Fun, sassy, witty, and it's about a woman who is "real", no skinny minny who gets the gorgeous guy & her biggest problem is fitting into a size 2. This is my absolute, feel good book, always lifts my spirits. If you find it at the library, read the first chapter, it will have you hooked :-)   The second is, well, not a specific book. But I will read one of my favorite historical romance authors LOL!!! I don't have to think and there is nothing like a little, um, romance, to lift the heavier books from your mind :-)

editting ~ Hi Muril!!  Glad your mom is doing well. Yum on the taco salad, love those!!!!!

Hi Michele!  How is your day going? :)

Dawn, we can never get tired of Samantha stories. Thanks for the book review. I may just have to get the "Bet Me"...I love feel good books. :)

Off to Sam's and by Rackroom Shoes to exchange Mom's shoes. :)  BTW, haven't exercised in about 2 wks. :(  Oh well, will probably get back on track next week. :)

Muril ~ once things get back to normal around your house, you'll be doing pilates again :-) You've had a lot going on the last few week with your mom & Miss Nancy. How is Miss Nancy doing, btw? " Bet Me" has a bit of language in it, not a lot & not overused but I wanted to mention that in case you don't care for that kind of thing. It really is my all time favorite book - I wore the paperback out so I bought the hard cover :-)

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

    Hello everyone!

Ughhh....its another rainy day in Indiana!!! :(

Jolene I did feel like slapping her, but then I would be hauled off to jail, and that would leave dh there alone to defend himself!!!! LOL!!!

Today we went and ate Mexican, it was sooooo good! We hadn't had it for a while.

Tonight I'm not going to eat healthy......McDonalds is giving away free chicken sandwiches today, so I am going to save money and eat that tonight.....

I am hoping that it stops raining soon! We are still wanting to go camping next weekend, and if it keeps raining we won't be able too.... :( there is some family that is going and we would be camping there all together, so it would be fun if we can.....

I am a llittle leary of going though.....the wildlife released three pairs of panthers in that area...!!!! I don't know what they were thinking!!! It is a family campground, with a lake for fishing!! Not very smart IMO...

Well I hope you all have a great day today!

I am going to bake cookies tonight I think to send with dh to work....I sent cake the other day, and the night shift guys were complaining that the day shift guys ate it all before they came in!! LOL! so now I have to bake something to please them!!

    Later Jet

    I think I can, I think I can, I think I can do it!!!! :)

This is the second week I have been on core and I lost 1.2 this week, so I am happy.

Muril glad your Mom is doing well.

I am sleepy and I think I am going to take a little nap. The man is here mowing and Lulu is running from door to door barking like a fool. So little nap is what is will be.

Jolene one of my many times when I had lost some weight my dil was unkind to me and my dm said don't you eat just because you are upset. So don't let some mean low class stranger do you in. She is nothing.

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

Afternoon!   Been so dark and gloomy here since around noon.   Jake's been off the wall excited because Tim took a vacation day tomorrow so he can come to the Kindergarten Open House with us.    That will help my anxiety a lot.

Sis is out of surgery and in recovery, they expect to discharge her around 5pm.   She has 2 weeks where she cannot put any weight on it at all, then she will be in a cast for 4 to 6 weeks.    Making her a Tollhouse pie tomorrow and will bring it when I drop Jake off on Saturday.

YAY DUSTA!   I am so glad core got that scale to move for you!!   That's another great loss!   Thank you, I know that you are right about not eating due to emotion, it's something I've struggled with for a long time, not even always bad emotions, sometimes good ones too.    Hope you have a good nap, I could use one myself   :)

Jet, free chicken sandwich from McDs, free iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts, you'd be all set!    :)    I'd come bail you out asap for smacking the waitress  :)   Yikes on the panthers!   We are planning our trip for August, 3 nights this time, tenting in the White Mountain National forest.   No running water, etc.     We had fun last year, and Jake's excited to go again.

Dawn, added BET ME to my library list, I've got stack her to get through but will pick it up on my next trip.   The library actually has several of her books.    Definitely not getting tired of Samantha stories.   Even Tim asks, did the NC woman have her baby yet?    :)     Yes, you will do the handing off thing, do NOT make the mistake I did.   Now I can't even go to the library for an hour without coming home to chaos.

Hi Muril   :)    Don't stress over the not exercising, you've been running around like crazy for the last few weeks.    You'll get back to it.    Cheddar chicken spaghetti?  Sounds like something DH would love, is the recipe on the BB?   Glad to hear mom is doing well.   Will keep sending the good thoughts her way.

Michelle, thanks for the hug.   Glad you are having a nice day at work minus the boss   :)

Did any of you watch America's Next Top Model this season?   The winner was announced last night, and they made a big deal out of her being a "plus sized" or "full figured" model.   I believe I read that she's a size EIGHT.    That makes me want to throw up.    I also feel they "let" her win because they were getting flack for including "plus" girls, but then ragging them the whole time for being plus and then booting them when the got close to the top.

There's a scandal rumor posted that she actually was a size 2/4, was approached for the show and they told her to PUT on weight and that she'd be guaranteed a top 3 spot.    There are pics of her floating around etc.    Very interesting...   Just like I knew this years Biggest Loser would be a woman, I had a 99% level of confidence Whitney would take ANTM.
