Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

Good Afternoon! :) Jolene, the recipe is on the BB but will post it in the following post. :)  I think Jaxon-who used to head up HL btw, posted it a couple years ago but evidently it is also a TOH recipe too.

Jolene, I am with you on the flirting thing- may have slapped her too. lol There used to be an elderly lady who was a greeter at Sam's who flirted with DH(good grief!). I thought she was pathetic so ignored her but I told DH she had no class at all. She was married and I think her DH was in bad shape physically- that made it even more pathetic- she doesn't work there anymore. I heard her flirting with other male customers too.

:(  Some people have no class whatsoever, poor things.

Dawn and Jolene, thanks for the encouragement- I plan on getting back to pilates ASAP. :)  I miss it but was thinking I really need to enjoy my time with Mom and making some more good memories so it's no biggie.  Off to Miss Nancy's tomorrow and hope it isn't a long day.  We are taking Mom home on Saturday.

Dusta, did you get a nap?  I did manage to doze a little this afternoon while Mom was trying to get a nap- said she only dozed. :)

Jet, we are getting some rain too but not too much. We need the rain.

Michele, lol on boss being out. Glad your day is going well! :)

Off to start supper. I am baking some b/s thighs and making potato soup and cornbread- some of Mom's favorite foods. We are having a easy going relaxing evening - so that  is nice. :)

I had a short nap, which is what I wanted. I was out earlier on the bike and got so tired that I only rode 45 minutes, going back now to get in at least an hour.

Forgot to tell you, Dawn I love the baby stories. Especially liked the one about the cat. Love cats, just don't have any now. When we lived in the country always had 10 to 12, they were outside cats.

Ok, my arm hurts from patting myself on the back.   I can't stop thinking about nachos.   All afternoon.   Ooey gooey cheese covered chips, piled high with salsa and sour cream.     I keep wandering in the kitchen and coming back out.   I just cut up a whole cucumber and had a half a container of grape tomatoes.    I've got all my flex points left for the week, but with Tim taking tomorrow night off and Saturday being date day, I'm going to need them all for that.     I am not going to make nachos.  I am not going to make nachos.    I finished my knitting project, and I will either start a new one tonight or play some Grand Theft Auto.

Muril, thank you for the heads up on the recipe, I found it, do you make it as is or with any changes?   Tim would definitely like that.     Ew on the elderly lady.   Tim is blind to that stuff.  He had a roommate when I met him that obviously had a thing for him for a long time, and I picked it up within 2 seconds of meeting her.    He never saw it, and still denies to this day that she thought of him as anything other than a big brother.

Dusta, good for you for getting out twice today on the bike.  You are such an inspiration to me!   I'm going to miss not going to the gym tomorrow, maybe I can go Saturday morning after I drop Jake off instead.   Earn a few extra points to eat out with!

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

Way to Go Jolene!!!!! No Nachos!!!WooHoo!!!

I know that I'm on here so late that no one will see this.

Things have been getting busy around here - 2 weeks, 4days to Election Day - again! and 3 weeks til school's out for the summer.

Not doing well on my eating - but not doing bad either. Hope to start walking w/ the dog if it ever warms up in the mornings - cold air really aggravates my asthma. I miss my GYM!!!!!

this has been a sorrowful week around the castle - Princesses won fish at the school carnival last friday - Prince took them out sat afternoon and got a bowl and rocks and a castle AND 2 Hermit Crabs. Well - Tuesday morning Gemma's fish was fins up and she was devistated !!!!!! (I was already at work so I only heard about it). So Prince took them to get another fish - had to call his cell and tell him to buy JOrdyn fish too - came home from work and hers was floatin!

So all is well in fish land but then Gemma's Hermit Crab chucked its' shell and ran around naked and was dead in the water bowl this morning. The pet store gave us a credit for a new crab when they get another shipment in.

Have to work this weekend and the family is going to the "Farm". (Walter and Kathie's house - Prince's Aunt and Uncle). Hopefully I will get some more flowers planted and some quilting done.

I hope that it is not too hot this weekend - today it was 101 - at least that is what the weather module on my Yahoo page says - I do know that at about 6:15pm the therm on my truck said the outside temp was 84. We worked with the lights off after lunch - to try to save energy and to keep the office cooler.

Came home after 7pm and the temp reading on the fridge said it was 91 in my kitchen. Just too hot!!! have all of the windows open upstairs so it will cool off enough to go to bed.

Hope everyone is doing well! Do you think Jen has seen the beach yet? LOL!!!!

Dawn - I love that book - "Bet Me"!!! but I think she has trouble fitting into a size 12 not 2 LOL!!! I have it as part of a "Double Book" - the other story is "Welcome to Temptation" - almost as funny and good!!! They are a go-to book for me also!

HI to everyone who sees this - Hope to check in again soon!

    Good morning.

Disneymom, did you have an extra shell with the crab? My ds had hermit crabs and they change shells, out grow there old home or a little piece of sands gets in the their home and they move.

Mel had something removed from his back, close to his shoulder yesterday. I think it was a mole, but it had bleed and I told him he needed to go to the dr and have it checked. It wasn't funny colored, but........ never no.

Hope you all have a good weekend.

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

TGIF!  Didn't get much sleep last night, I dozed from 11 to 1 on the couch, Tim decided to have mac n cheese when he got home so I didn't have to cook.   Couldn't get to sleep til 3ish, and was woken up by the people next door at 6.

Big day today.   Jake will be visiting his new school from 12 to 2.   He can't see his class since they are being built over the summer.    We have to be in a meeting for 2 hours too.   I'm glad Tim is coming with me, I'm not good around new people at all, very self conscious.     After that we'll go out and get something to eat and maybe take Jake bowling or to pick up a movie for family night.

Hi Ginny!  Sending big hugs for you.   Sorry about the pet situation, we've been trying to decide on a good first pet for Jake, right now we went the "Chia pet" route   :)  Tim wants to do a chameleon, but the thought of having crickets in the house skeeves me out.   LOL      Hope that after the election and school gets out you can settle back into your routine and get back to the gym!

Good morning Dusta!   Hope you got some rest last night.   I need you to nag me to get to the dr, I've got a few moles I should go get checked, but it always seems like something else has to come first.

Well, I suppose I should fold some laundry before Jake gets up, and then maybe I can start on my next project.     :)      Will check in as much as I can between now and 11, not sure if I'll get back after that.

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

    Morning!!

only half day for me today - have an ob appointment at 1pm. I'll start my weekly visits now. OMG ~ that's odd to say LOL!!!

Ginny ~ Crusie's "Faking It" is a sequal to Welcome to Temptation. That's another good one, I like her. I'ver read all her books, but Bet Me is my fav!!  I must have written my post wrong for Bet Me - I meant to word it as she's *not* the typical size 2 heroine. Sorry about Princess' fish & crab :-( I've never had the crabs as pets, no clue what goes into caring for them LOL!!! Used to have fish, got an 'algae eater' so I wouldn't have to clean the tank as much. I'm lazy LOL!!!

Dusta ~ woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  congrats on the weight loss. I"m so happy for you :-)

Muril ~  I'm so glad you are enjoying your mom's visit. You're right, making those memories is so important!!

Jolene ~ I'm so proud of you for skipping the nachos :-)  That is very hard to do when you have a very specific taste for something. Your description made me hungry for them LOL!!!! I can only imagine how you must have felt!  Hope things go well today with Jake & Kindergarten, glad Tim is going with you.

Hi Michele & Jet!! Hope you both have a great day ((((hugs))))

the waitress flirting - if she was smart (big "if" here), she'd know you don't flirt with the man. You make nice with the woman at the table. Always LOL!!!!  during my waitress years (sorry, "server" or whatever they are called now) I learned very quick that flirting with a guy gets you no where if he's with someone. Now, a table of guys & you can get a good tip. But Hello!!!! he's WITH a woman!!!  why flirt with a guy who's taken? You just p*ss off the woman. But you make nice with her and it's golden.  I tried hard to be respectful to everyone at a table, but if you're perceptive you can tell almost right away if she's the one you need to focus on. Guys don't typically pay attention, most are NOT observant. But the lady at the table will notice if you're nice, prompt, smile, how the food is, if you're friendly, etc. Women are much more observant. Guys just don't care about that kind of thing - they want their food & drink.

and I'll get off that soap box.

I"m glad I haven't irritated anyone with the baby talk Cool I'd feel bad if I did, I really do not want to be that person LOL!!!  And I will issue a warning now - the closer this gets the more it's on my mind (obviously) so you will be hearing about it all a lot more in the next few weeks. But please, if I do get obsessive about it, let me know. I wont take offense and I want to know if I'm irritating someone. Feel free to tell me to shut up :-)

dinner last night - the tartar sauce was really good with the soft tofu. Dh didn't even notice, just said he liked the sauce. I made the sauce first, let it chill while I made the fish sticks. Definitely a keeper.

ok, enough chatter on my part. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

    dawn

Never give up what you want most for what you can have now.

    Good Morning.

Jolene - I hope the school visit goes well - glad Tim is going to be able to go with you.  Great job on avoiding the nachos!!  WHOOP WHOOP - you rock!!

Dusta - WHOOP WHOOP!!  Great job on the loss.  Hope Mel is OK.

Dawn - Weekly appointments . . . that mean it's soon - lol.  I don't think anyone will get tired of you talking about what's going on with Samantha - she's got a bunch of virtual "aunts" and we want to hear all about her!!  Big Smile

Muril - So glad you are having a good time with your Mom - I know you'll miss her when she goes back home.  Hope Miss Nancy is feeling better.

Ginny - I can't imagine how busy things are for you.  Sorry about the fish/crab deal - that sucks.  Sad

Waving to Jet and anyone else I may have missed.

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

Dusta - Didn't have an extra shell - when Prince bought htem he specifically asked - "What do we NEED to do this?" You think that they'd have taken the opportunity to soak him for a lot of $$$ and had him buy a gazillion things. they just said - here, they need this food and this water additive. So last night we bought 3 new shells, Forest Bedding (shredded coconut) for the bottom of tha tank and got a rain check for a new crab. The crab we still have did jump shells after we put the new ones in.

Hope to get back on my break today!

Waving to all who stop by!

    Hello everyone!

Ginny this is an idea......my SIL found out the hard way.....do you have a water softener? sometimes water that runs through a water softener will kill fish.....to much salt...

Well next week is my last week to babysit! I am kinda glad because she was so demanding, but yet I will miss not having a kid around.....dh said that we will never babysit for family again!!! LOL! Her grandma will have the summer off work and she will be going to school full time next year....

Well I need to decide what I am doing for lunch....if I fix something here, it will be salmon patties, and I'm not really in the mood for that, so maybe dh will come up with the idea of eating out!!! LOL!

Hope everyone has a good day!

    Waving to everyone!

Dawn I hope you see this, I had the mashed avocado on a sandwich today for lunch and it was great. Since I have cut back on bread I had it open faced on ww thin bread. I could have left the meat off and like it just as well. I added a little garlic pepper, salt and lime juice to it. Had lean ham, tomato, lettuce and red onion. As Rachel Ray says yum-o.

It was chilly this morning, for here and had to wear a light jacket when I rode the bike.  I did sleep a little longer this morning, sorry you didn't have a restful night Jolene.

Re: HL Topic of the Week 5/12 to 5/18 It's National Women's Health Week!

    Good Evening Healthy Ones!

I went to Miss Nancy's this morning and thankfully finished up by 2:00 and headed home. Mom went to y.s with DH this morning and had an afternoon nap so I wasn't away too long, plus I fixed her B'fast before heading out and she got her eye drops on time.  :)   Miss Nancy is still dragging- I think mainly because the antibiotics kick her butt. :(  A catch 22 there because she needs them for the infection and it seems to be getting better anyway.

We take Mom home tomorrow. :(  Oh well, on the bright side, she comes back next month(Lord Willing) for the second cateract surgery on her left eye so we get her again. :) She is doing well but is anxious to get home- I can understand that- there is no place like home..... :)

Way to go JOLENE on passing up the Nachos. You described them perfectly btw. :)

Dusta, congrats on the loss! You Go Girl! :)

    Ginny, LOL on the 12 vs 2.  I can't imagine wearing a size 2, can you? :)

Dawn, I hear you on the flirting waitress/server thing.  Very tastless. This is coming from a former waitress- worked as one part time right after graduation for a while. This is totally changing the subject but if one has ever been a server or has a close family member that is one, they are great tippers. lol

Michele, I agree, I am Auntie Muril. :)

Jet, the salmon patties sound good(although you weren't in the mood, lol) . How do you make yours?

Ok, off to relax a bit.  We are rising early tomorrow because we aren't spending the night at Mom's- just making it a day trip and  I think she needs to go by the grocery store for some goodies when she gets back in town as well.  :) And, I will have to make sure that Ronnie(DB) knows how to apply the plastic eye shield before she goes to bed, and how to give her eyedrops...wow, I sound like a mother hen.lol

    Have a lovely weekend Everyone!

Muril I don't follow a recipe! LOL!  But what I put in it is....

canned salmon w/juice (remove bones and skin)

    crushed crackers

    1-2 eggs

    lemon juice

    worseterchire sauce

    parsley

Thats all I can think of right now.... :)

Hope you all have a great weekend!
