    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

Good morning everybody. It is sunny but cold this morning. I had to break down and start the stove again. Got tired of sitting here shivering while drinking my coffee.

Zora-The French toast sounds sooooo good. I was just telling DG I needed to make some stuffed French toast again. We sure enjoyed that. Have you been out looking for any more new fishing places lately?

Rosie-We have had a pair of Black-Headed Grosbeaks the last few days. Are they ever beautiful in their orange, black and white attire. They are much prettier than the pictures in my bird books. But of course Picasso puts them to shame with his “different” colors. But the grosbeaks are bigger! Smile!!!!

Beth-What a trouble maker you are this morning! I usually don’t even notice the date I just do the top Chat of the day and figure that is it.

Tippy-Yes the shrooms do absorb a little of the grease. But just keep the heat pretty high so they get a little crispy (these are the ones dipped in egg/milk wash and then rolled in cracker crumbs). It is if the pan isn’t hot enough they soak the grease up. For hamburgers I would just slice them and saute them in a mixture of butter and oil for a bit. Mmmmm, my DS called last night bragging they were having calf brain shrooms for supper last night. He said I bragged first last year so he had to beat me at my own game this year.

Cilla-Sorry but that soup doesn’t even sound good to me. The oysters as well as the spinach. I do love spinach but not in soups and things. Love to eat it raw or fresh cooked. Yum. But it seems to take on a funny taste to me when cooked with other things. Love both of you siggies today. I heed a trip to the ocean.

Ruth-Hope all your tests come out great. And I know you will enjoy your food and time with Rose. Hugs to you!!!

Red-Love the bird this morning. A friend had a bald (sick) parakeet one time and it looked like a prehistoric monster of some sort. Hope all the animals trip to the vet went well.

NancyZ-A “normal” weather day. What is that? We sure haven’t had many of them this year. Any camping in the foreseeable future? We have talked about it, but still lots of snow anywhere we would go.

Cats-I can just see your special hummers trying to fly with their little chubby bodies. Bet your flowers are looking pretty by now.

Beth-Have you been out in the street calling “Hey Culligan Man”. We have such good water here we don’t have to do anything to it and it tasted great. Better than the bottled water.

Helen-Are you sure you are weeding under the manderine tree or does your gardener look like Rosies pool boy? Glad your eyes are doing a little better than yesterday.

Margaret L-So glad the storms didn’t come your way. I was thinking of you when I saw the news and wondering. That is all your area needs after all the flooding. Did your package arrive yet?

Sally-Hope you are feeling better today and not so sore. Gentle hugs gal.

Randi-I miss your smiling face. Hope you are ok and haven’t tiled yourself into a corner.

Mabel-Special hugs to do today and hope Floyd has a better day too.

Well this has turned out to be a book and a half. So guess I better get off here and get something to eat.

    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

Good afternoon from a warmer Indiana, it's 65 out there so not too bad.  DH out hauling corn, came home early last night, so not too bad, gives me the day to myself.

Just got the sweeping & dusting done, plus cleaned the bathrooms, have a load of towels in the dryer.

Having leftover chicken for dinner, just pop it in the nuker & fix me a baked potato, that will do me.  DH was a very happy boy last night, I made a batch of choc. chip cookies for him, don't know how many he ate, but he loves them.

Zora..........I'm with you about DWTS, time for Marissa to go, am rooting for either Kristi or Jason, he's a hunk as my DD's would say..........LOL!

Hope everybody is having a good day.

    Good Afternoon all

Zora - love the butterfly "philosophy"

Cilla - looks like I'm in the minority - soup sounds real good to me.  Any fires in your area?  None right here, but am seeing a lot of haze in the air and smelling smoke

Mabel - how is Floyd feeling?  Better I pray

Doreen - meant to say it yesterday, that lil Joey sounds like a real p__sser!

Margaret - what a wonderful gift!  You'll have to let us know what all was in it and what you're making with all those goodies.

Margaret E - like Zora said - stick with us - we'll all get this timing straight

Merle - so sorry about your friend Lorraine

Narnian - really good to see you - come back soon

Rosie - a fried platter sounds real good.  Now, add some zucchini & potatoes & veges are covered - then - maybe some catfish, shrimp, etc.  Then, what the H--fried Snickers for dessert.    Save the oil - the next fuel!

Helen - how I envy you your mandarin orange - if it weren't forbidden to ship citrus here, I'd beg you to send me a few.  In the storms a few years back I lost 3 trees - honeybell, ruby red & key lime - would kill to have them back.

A big Shout Out to all I missed - have a great rest-of-the-afternoon & evening

    Peg

    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

Well, I did a new thing today - I walked out of the dr.'s office!  The O >B> insists on seeing me 2ce a yr.in order to get the prescription for pst-partum pills, and that is one exam too many in my mind.  So I went and after 45 min with my back killing me, I put on  my clothes and said I was leaving!    I don't think I will ever go back and could give up the pills.  To heck with him.  Then I did errands and came home so I could gripe to all of you!   I am getting testy in my old age, esp when my back hurts!  I go to a new pain dr. Thursday but don't have high hopes.

In the grocery store today I saw a breading pkg for mushrooms. Maybe that would work on any kind of mushrooms.

I never heard of mandarin trees in the U.S.  I've only seen them in cans!  Honeybells are the best, but my tree died - of old age, I think.  Nancy B

    Hello Everyone!
I am so late getting here and will have to make this kind of short. It has been a busy day so far.  I don’t know what I did but it has taken  me all day to do it.
I had to run an errand and while I was out I met my friend Pat for lunch. We split a Quizno’s  $5. sandwich and visited. Then a couple more  stops to make my trip count. I did buy a bag of frozen Crowder Peas while I was out. They will be on the menu soon. Thanks for reminding me about them. I had not fixed any for a while.
Wish I had time to respond to everyone but I am afraid I used up my time having lunch and visiting.  I need to get something going for supper. I had a good lunch but don’t know that Jim did.
I am adding armloads of hugs prayers and well wishes for all the baskets.
    I need to get moving.
     Wishing Everyone A Happy Day!
    Lois

    Re: 05/12/08 CS's Chat

Good afternoon all.  As someone else said, don't know what I've done all day, but I've been busy.  There is plenty more to do before I take off early Fri am.  Won't make up my mind on where I'm going to go when I leave Branson til after I get there

So far I have four hats to turn into the knitting for charity group at the senior center, yes I'll post some pictures as soon as I figure how this system works.  I intend to make scarves to go with them and will work on them while I'm gone.

It is definitely spring now, the temp is about 70° and the wind has really been blowing all day,  Just hope that it is this nice on Sat for the service.  I haven't been out except to get the mail and paper earlier as there is just too much to get done in here. I'd better get back to work.  Take care all.  Pat
