Hi everyone,
Finally back home. Unfortunately, all the good intentions in the world won't work if there just aren't enough hours in the day on Thursday. :) Mom was just feeling so good today and, I think because it was so sunny outside, had lots of things she wanted to be out doing. I was really glad that she wanted to get out to do them with us. Of course, her back was feeling it by the time we got her back home, but it was still good for her. She has such a nice patio off of the lobby of her apartment and when we got there this morning it looked very comfortable and inviting. Part of it was in shade and the other part in some sun. I suggested to her that she take a walk out there with her walker to get some fresh air and a little exercise, when we're not there during the week. I hope she will do it. There are automatic doors, so that will be easy for her to get through and there are always people either outside or just inside in the lobby, so she wouldn't feel alone out there. When we got back home, I cleaned her fruit for her and my sister did the refrigerator, so that will make things more manageable for her during the week.
I might look into WW on line, since it looks like Thursdays just won't work. There is only one other WW meeting in this area and it is on Tuesday mornings, and I can't get there at that time. We used to have two meetings on Thrursday evenings, one at 5:30 and the other starting at 6:30 because there were so many people, but they cut that down to one jam packed meeting at 5:30. In all honesty, I know the program and can really do it myself, I just have to start journaling again and, as Verna said, planning ahead.
You're right, Verna about our taking care of ourselves. We owe it to ourselves and to our loved ones if we want to be productive and able to help them when they need it. I'm sure you'll be back in the swing of things, like you said, once your house is really all completed. Your breakfast did sound good this morning.
No, Barb, I think that was ingrained in us so strongly and for so long that it will always be first and foremost what decides how we priotitize. We can recognize it, though, and that could come in handy when we need it. Wow, kick boxing, I didn't know you did that. Good for you. I have to admit that even when I ride my exercise bike, I seldom get to the "dewy" stage. LOL That has to mean that I'm just not working hard enough.
JoLynn, I'm glad you were finally able to get on the BB. Frank and I eat dinner later too, around 7 PM. I know lots of older people, who have started eating their meals earlier and earlier. My Mom also has her main meal for lunch and then something lighter for "dinner" at around 3:30. I can remember a Steinfield episode when he visited his parents in a retirement community they moved to and he was so funny about eating the "early bird special" with them. I'm sure that's down the road for us too. :)
Barb, your Aunt and Uncle will be so please with the special treats you're going to bring for them. I love lilacs, how lucky you are to be getting some plants from them. Tom just told me this morning that he saw some beautiful lilacs and remembered how I always brought some in during May and wished he had a bush in his yard. If I know him, that will be one of the things he does in the yard next.
Nurse Pat, your cruise sounds like it will be just wonderful. When my cousin did the cruise/train trip, she said it was wonderful seeing all of the sights, but it was not an easy trip to make. She was exhausted, so maybe just the cruise will be better. Hope you take lots of pictures. What memories you'll be bringing back with you.
When Frank comes in from cutting the grass, we're having left overs from last night. I made enough talapia and roasted vegetables for tonight, thinking I would be at WW, so that's an easy dinner but one of my favorites.
Hope everyone has a nice evening. Take care and God bless. Jo Ann
