    • WOW Did we ever have some bad weather yesterday.  Rain, which we needed, but also the thunder, lightning, and wind that went with it.  Bob and I had gone down to Gulf Shores for lunch and ended up stuck in King Neptune’s till it passed.  Then we store hopped looking for some frozen SOS that someone had told Bob about and he wanted to try.  No luck in finding it, so I guess he is stuck eating my attempts to duplicate the taste of what he had in the Air Force!!

    • Today is Love a Tree Day. So, go out and give a tree a great big hug.

    • Trees are a good thing. They give us shade, comfort and warmth. They give off oxygen, too. There are many, many benefits provided by trees. So, you have good reason to love a tree or two.

    • Everyone has a favorite kind of tree. Use today to identify a tree you love, and to pamper it. Give it a trim. Eliminate competitors around it. Feed it a dose of fertilizer. Tree spikes work great. And, give the tree some water, if it is thirsty.

    • Important Note: On Love a Tree Day, your attention must be turned toward trees. A bush or a shrub just won't do.

    • So guess I will go hug my big ole live oak outside the porch.  I do love it and but it sure is messy as it loses leaves year-round.

    • JP-You were right they are the same as your casual nurses, and sometimes some of them are very casual in their nursing care for the patients.  How was the raspberry patch??

    • Lois-I can sympathized with getting up early.  I am finally sleeping till the alarm goes off instead of getting up at 4:30 like I did for years.  Did you get the quilting machine you looked at???

    • Mabel-Hope things start looking up for both you and Floyd!! Just know we are here for you when you need us!!

Just send me the picture of the cake when you get a chance and I will post them for you.  Hope you have calmed down some after the near accident.  Kelly says people try to beat his 18-wheeler on turns too and those things do not stop quickly!!

    morning.jpg picture by Mapanda

Hello everyone.  I decided to post tonight before I go to bed.  I'm like Ruth, with the sleepiness.  I used to be able to stay up late at night and play games on the computer or just browse the board, but here lately I've been getting sleepy earlier.  It's only a few minutes after midnight. I wonder if it's my age catching up with me.

Zora, the weird thing about that recipe for the Pimento cheese was that I had just sampled it the night before at my card game, and really liked it, then the first thing this morning, (the 15th) it was the first recipe I saw on the board.  I'm going to save it for when I need a party dip. It is too thick to eat with chips.  They would probably break, but it is spreadable on crackers.  It is not formed into a ball, just served in a bowl.  It was in a different magazine than Taste of Home.  I believe the web site is included in the recipe.  I'm not sure how recent it was published.  I give it a good review.

Well, guess I'd better close for now.

All of you are included in my prayers, and your family members too.  Be back tomorrow, if I don't get too busy with Zack.  He keeps me busy when he's here, and pretty soon, I will have him and his brother, Tristan too, for the summer.  Then, I will probably go to Margie's house, because the two of them would make too much noise here.

    Hugs and Prayers for all.

Okay, can't get this reply to load properly, so this will be jumbled together rather than iin paragraphs. Zora, my raspberry bushes are now cleared of dead canes. What a job that is every Spring. My DH will clear up the debris I left beside each row. I did enuf bending, stretching and crouching. I'm sore enuf with my Fibromyalgia, never mind trying to garden. Tippy, How freaky, your near accident. It must've scared the heebiejeebies outta you !!! Good thing you were able to avoid it. Quick thinking! Cilla, I always use Tylenol 1. It has codeine in it and we can still get it without a prescription. It's kept behind the pharmacy counter, and is recorded. Anything stronger you'll need a prescription for. Regular and extra strength Tyl. is useless for me. You may want to try it. Just don't drive till you know what is does for you. Thought for the day...Disraeli, eh? I used to live near a Disraeli Bridge...will never forget that name. And love a tree? We have a lot of trees at our place, especially spruce and pine. Do I hug them all? That'll take a long time. LOL There's several forest fires burning within 100 miles of us. It's very, very windy, so that'll hamper the fire-fighting efforts. One of our friends is only a few miles from one of the fires. We pray for her safety and that of all in the vicinity. Bedtime for this gal. Tomorrow I'll be putting in a long shift. ***JP***

Have a wonderful day, Grubup as we sleep. We have lots of relatives in Europe. they are 8 hours time difference from us. So it's just after 8 a.m. for them (and you) now. Welcome to this group! I'm JP. I live in Central Alberta, Canada. I'm married, have 2 adult daughters and two children living with their Lord in heaven. We enjoy 3 grandchildren...and our SonIL, of course. I'd better join DH in bed. High time for some shut-eye.

Where did my post go? Sheesh! Guess who can't fall asleep? So I'm sitting here with hot milk and soda crackers. The wind is fierce! A few minutes ago, while I was typing the post that disappeared, It was as though several people were knocking at the door, only it was coming from the bathroom. My DH slept through it...he says he goes to bed to sleep, not lie awake. He didn't seem overly concerned, or he wasn't awake enuf to want to get up. Sure hope it doesn't happen again. That's freaky! Will hit the couch and try again to fall asleep. Once I'm sleeping, if I wake up for a peestop, I'll fall asleep again. It's just GETTING to sleep that's my problem.

    Re: 05/16/08 CS's Chat

    Good Morning Everyone!
I am now the proud owner of a HQ quilting frame and a Juki sewing machine that goes with it. Jim and I went to see it, I wanted him to go so he could see it and if I got it could help me get it set up. She had it all set up so I could ‘play’ with it and it works like several that I have seen at quilt shows.  She showed me a lot about it and there is a video with it that takes it step by step. She was so nice and offered to come to our house if I had a problem with it.  I don’t have it set up yet, we have started re arranging the furniture in that room to fit it in. Also there is carpet in there which we had been planning to take up and use the hard wood floor, so we will do that as we get things arranged. Jim says it will be all set up today. Can’t wait to get to play with it. DD# 2 is really excited about it too, she said they would be here on Saturday to help with the furniture etc if we still need help. It is going in what has been the dining room so to move the china cabinet, it had to be emptied and things put back, then I also have my grandmothers buffet which we will move today so will have to remove some things from it too. The result will be good so just have to get these things done.
Thanks to both Margarets for the recipes. I make pimento cheese, (no recipe, just dump it in), but this one sounds really good next time I make it I will try this. We like pimento cheese sandwiches on wheat bread.  I have never made scones but I may have to try this recipe soon.
Zora, Great thought for the day!  Love a tree day will not be hard we have lots of trees in Charlotte as a matter of fact there is a city ordinance that any new construction has to have trees planted along the main street at a prescribed interval. Makes for a pretty city. We do have a couple of pine trees that need to be taken down. They are old and with enough wind I am afraid will either come down on our house or the neighbors.
Not a lot of cooking going on here until we get this project done. I do have turkey enough to do something just don’t know what it will be.
I need to get the coffee going so we can go for a walk and get back at it.
I am adding armloads of hugs, prayers and well wishes to the baskets this morning as I repeat the group prayer.
    Wishing Everyone A Happy Day!
     Lois

    Good Morning Everyone,

Lois, congratulations on your new quilting frame, may you spend many enjoyable hours at it.

We can't get Tylenol with codeine in the states without a prescription.    When ever I went to Canada, I had a standing order to bring back some to a couple friends.

Another dreary looking day here, but it's Senior card game day so will be playing cards instead of looking at the weather.

Wishing you all a wonderful day,

    Mabel

Just another quick run through as the girls will be here any minute.

I did want to tell NANCY B that I am so delighted that you have found a doctor who is giving you hope. Doing the dance of joy for you.

ZORA~ Finally got the cake pic sent to you.

Wishing you all a great day and lots of hugs and prayers going out to my friends here.

Waving at everyone. I think Playland at McDonalds is calling our names.

I cut and pasted Nancy B's reply that she put on yesterdays post this morning!!

    Zora

This morning is the best I have felt since I got home the 4th, pain wise..  Don't know if it was the bursitis shot yesterday or the excitement of feeling hope for the procedure next Wed.  Wish you would keep me in your prayers that this will work .

I will be seeing Pat and her granddaughter this weekend, and I am thrilled - first one of you I will have seen live!  Since I don't know when she is arriving, I can't make plans for a possible meal.  Timing is everything!  I feel so UP this morning!  Nancy B

This photo released Wednesday, May 14, 2008, by the U.S. Customs ...

This photo released Wednesday, May 14, 2008, by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection agency shows one of the more than two dozen giant beetles seized from a package after workers at a Mohnton, Pa., postal facility heard the insects making scratching noises. The large bugs arrived last week from Taiwan in a box whose contents were labeled as toys, gifts and jellies.
    ------------------------------------------
Yesterday. All the sheriffs deputies could do was take a report, look around and assign a case number. Lot of good that will do over the stolen items and the other possibilities that the discovery presented to us.

I was out running a couple of errands. Pulled into the driveway at home just as my cell phone started ringing. Answered it. My Son's upset voice, "Mom, the sheriff is on his way to my house. I can't get there. Please grab Dad and get out there". His home is about 15 miles from mine.

He had two men at his place picking up a couple of rusted out old trucks. One of the men heard voices. Turned and 2 men, one without a shirt, climbed out of the old camper shell in the pasture. My Son lives way out in the country. They saw the two men that were supposed to be there and took off along a line of mesquite bushes towards a dilapidated trailer park about a 1/2 mile away. John, one of the men that was working there, called my Son and the sheriff's department.

A lot of stuff from my Son's property had been turning up missing as well as items from the neighbors. A few feet from the corner of my Son's property line, was discovered a place the ruffians had stamped out in the tall grasses for observing the house. Two, rotted, mattresses had been pulled into the area with shrubbery for a cover, flashlight, etc. It's bad enough their home was being "watched" and things "stolen", but I have two young teenage granddaughters living there. The deputies felt there may have been an "ulterior" motive as well due to the presence of the mattresses. The men were not found by the searching law officers. Now my family is on the lookout for "two legged" snakes as well as the rattling kind.

    Wow, to the quilting machine.

    Scary on the near accident.

Hang in there to all those suffering a variety of ailments.

OK, I'm bad. Did not run back through and pull up names--but I am thinking of all of you.

Good morning from a sunny Indiana, it's 60 out there, so a little warmer today.

DH out hauling corn, will be home early this evening, don't mind him doing that, just hate it when he's out late.

Just got finished cleaning the bathrooms & have a load of towels in the washer.  Have a man coming this afternoon to work on my sweeper, the handle cracked.  Has taken him 3 weeks to get the part & get out here, grrrrr, they take their sweet time doing things.

My favorite tree is in the front yard, a big ole sugar maple, turns a glorious color in the fall, all gold, if I could post pictures I'd show you, it sure is a beauty.

Zora..............saw on TV last night where NCIS is on for 2 hours, just enough to interupt DWTS, gotta watch Jason on his last night, I've pulled for him this long, will have DD tape it for me, always something to mess me up........LOL!

Hope everyone is having a great day.
