When was the last time you went ice skating?

We are going to go tonite.  DD's school is having a family night.  It will be a relief from this heat.  I won't be skating tonight but DH will.  He has his hockey skates.  DD will bring 2 friends.  It should be fun.  they are having a light show too.  I remember as a teen we would go skating on Friday nights.  Sometimes they would have ladies only.  Or Boy pick a partner, that was embarrassing at that age.  I find it kind of boring now to just go around in a circle, so I'll have my drink and magazine in the stands, lol.

About 5 years ago I took my granddaughter.  I used to be an excellent roller skater, but this Southern born and raised girl found out ice skating is quite different!  I didn't do too badly, for a grandma! LOL

Ive never went but I would love to try it sometime.There isn't a rink around here though.

My ds plays hockey and 2 dd's ice skate.  I was on the ice at Christmas time with the girls at "playdate on ice"...something our rink has every Thursday morning during the school year for kindergarten/preschoolers.  The older 2 girls ( 5 and 6 yrs) and I took turns pulling the 3 yr old around the ice on a sled...she loved it! (Well, at least when her sisters pulled as I shuffle more than skate!) They only allow the sleds for little ones at these playdate things.  They also create a snowpile in the middle that the kids can climb and play on.  It was fun for all of us. 

I haven't ice skated since I was a kid.  There were outdoor rinks in our area & an indoor one.  I used to skate until my toes were in danger of cracking off from the cold!  I remember skating in the driveway, too, after a snow & ice storm glazed everything solid.

I'm sure if I tried to ice skate now, I'd immediately go ker-plop and break 16 bones simultaneously.

I never have been. As much as I'd like to with a bad knee, wrist and back I don't think I would take the chance. One of our local news anchors went on the ice to cover a story. He fell while doing the story and broke his arm.
