    Happy Saturday!

    Good Morning June Friends!

I hope to get outside and get something started in garden.  There is a slight chance of raindrops, so hoping they miss us.  Don't know how much I'll get done, wouldn't you know it my allergies/ sinuses are really acting up.  While I was mowing lawn I could feel it coming on. Sneezing, itchy eyes and a nose full.  Geesh.  Hope fully meds will kick in shortly, didn't sleep too well either.

I only went to a couple of garage sales yesterday, decided I needed to get home and get working on all the mowing.  I mowed and trimmed our home and did the lots too.   Only got a couple things at the sales, an antique cookie cutter (one with the red handle) it's a christmas tree only .50 !  Also got a neat sweatshirt for $1.  And I found a couple paperbacks and a neat little word search book for Ben.

Sam went to his buddies after school, he's staying till Sunday.

There is an auction in town today, I may go investigate and see if they have anything I'd like.  Looking for dressers for the boys.  And of course any of my vintage collectables.  lol

Margie -  have a nice day shopping, glad to hear you took it easy yesterday.

SherryH -  I'm so very sorry to hear about the young lady that passed away.  How awful, she had quite young children so I'm thinking she wasn't too old.  So sad for her husband and children.

Dowie - Hope you have fun camping!

Hope Cherie is having a great time on vacation.  I'm glad she is able to get away. She works very hard.

Sherry - any swimming today?  I really miss our pool is on those horrid humid days we get here.  I always enjoyed jumping in later in the evening to cool off before getting my jammies on.  Especially after a long day in the garden or canning.  But I don't miss cleaning it, adding all those expensive chemicals.  lol  Ben asked if I'd get one of little plastic pools for out on the deck, he could sit in and goof around with his water soakers.  I just may,  the dog might enjoy it too.  lol

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hugs to all ............GardenPatti.gif picture by my3sons_2006

Good morning.   The sun is shining.  It rained or spritzed or was cloudy all day, had a huge downpour while we were eating supper, we ate out.  Went to check out that flea market and the place we got our porch door is no longer there.  So wasted trip.  But found out about some other stores we'll try.  It's wet so can't do too much garden stuff, may do some round up tho.  Also, have a huge pile of ironing.

Margie, hope you have fun at the farmer's market etc.

Shirley, how are you doing?  Is the carpet down or is that today or when?  How's the clear out going?

Shelia, looked at the pics, lovely house,

Sherry, were you able to get your physical in?  Hope you have a good day today.

Lisa, hope weather cooperates for opening day.

    Patti, how's your garden coming?

Deb, when is the party today?

    Kathleen, many games today?

Hi Sherryh, Becky, Denise, Belle and all else to come.

Need to go call my Mom and then get things ready for Ed to take to the dump.  Try to be back later.

55º here, cloudy & breezy, looks like a few showers passing thru soon, but unless the fields are already too wet, probably won't affect ballgames later. Opening day ceremony starts at 9:45, then first games are at 11. Danielle plays one of the first games, which is good because I will have plenty of time to get groceries later; really need to go, or as Margie says, we'll be sucking our thumbs very soon!!
I got most of my cleaning done yesterday & some things organized that needed it. We also defrosted our big freezer, Don mowed the yard, then burned a pile of leaves & little wood pieces left over from chopping wood.

Margie, nice of James & Daniel to build a deck for his aunt. Wish we could go shopping together, we'd have fun! Hope you get to relax some today too!! Love you GF!!!

(((Patti))), hope your meds kick in soon; those allergies can sure make a person miserable! Nice you found a couple more things yesterday; hope you have fun at the auction today!!

Jill, sounds like a good day to work indoors, but don't forget to take some "me" time!!

Deb, sounds like it will be a lovely day! Hope you all have fun at the boys party - HAPPY BIRTHDAY to them!!!

(((Sherryh))), so sorry to hear about the young woman at your church & so very sad; sending prayers for the family.

Need to get in the shower & get moving, will be time to leave before I know it!! Hope each of you has a great day!!

    hugs, Lisa

Good Morning Ladies. Hope everyone is doing well this Saturday morning. I've had a busy day so far, and it's only after 8am!!  DH and I got up our usual time, He needed to get out of the house early to have his truck emission tested. WE both ran on the treadmill, and had coffee. He was out of the house a little after 7:30, there is always a wait on a Saturday, so he wanted to get there early. AS for me, I've been busy. I have laundry in the machine and I have cupcake in the oven to take to my niece's house this afternoon. Her son is receiving First Holy Communion today so we'll be going to a party. I'm looking forward to it. The day is beautiful right now, nice and sunny. WE may get some showers later on.

Margie, Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you. Enjoy!

Patti, You got some great bargains at the yard sale. Hope you feel better with your allergies. Thts how I was last weekend, but this week wasen't too bad.

Jill, I HATE to iron. On the day i do laundry, I always try to iron what needs to be, so it's over and done with! This way too, it doesn't pile up, and something is always ready to wear.

DEb, as usual we're having the same type of weather. Have fun at the party, hope it goes well.

    Thats it for now.

GOOD MORNING ALL!   Here in Cherryville, NC, the sun is shining and its supposed to get to 80 today.  I got so much accomplished yesterday.  I worked at the church for a couple hours, did all my grocery shopping, almost completely caught up with the laundry, mopped the kitchen and placed down new rugs, picked up my Enbrel from CVS, and picked up a few needed items from Wal-mart!  Wow, no wonder I'm a little tired today...

Thanks to all who prayed for Jennifer Campbell's family.  They are still in shock over this.  She was only 24 years old....very bubbly personality.  Her funeral is tomorrow....my husband is a minister so he will be doing the service.  Please think of him also as this is very hard. The family seems to be coping quite well for the circumstances.  I don't think the children really understand it.

Hope that everyone enjoys their day of farmer's marketing, grocery shopping, birthday partying, ballgaming, etc.  Sounds like all are going to have some fun.  Hello to Margie, Jill, Deb, Lisa, Denise, Jessica, SherryS, Sheila, Belle, and all the others I bet I can't remember yet!!

    There's always time for gingerbread!

    Hi girls,

Happy Saturday!!!!   We have baseball games later this afternoon.  One game at 3:30 and another at 5:00. Should be somewhat cooler by then. It is nice out now - low 60's but expected to get over 100 again, like yesterday.

I got up a little early today so I could get out in the garden and water - my maters and squash started to look droopy yesterday afternoon.  Should be fine now, though.

For dinner tonight I am making (already made) shredded bbq pork sandwiches, watermelon and will make some pasta salad to go with it - nice and easy for after the baseball games.

Well, I better get going.  The dogs are getting antsy to be let out and I can hear Tommy coming down stairs.  have a WONDERFUL Saturday, everyone.

Re: June Cleaver Club Saturday 5/17/08

    Morning everybody.

Margie, hope you get all you need. Have fun at the farmers market.

Patti, hope you get to feeling better. You sure get some great buys at yard sales. Wish I could go with you.

Deb, have fun at the boys party.

SherryH, sorry about the lady at church. Will be praying for them and your DH. Is Cherryville close to Winston-Salem? I gathered from one of your remarks that it might be. I went to school in Winston-Salem for awhile. Tiny little Baptist school that nobody ever heard of, but it is a really neat school. If you haven't heard of it, there is a wonderful program called Griefshare which was originated by a company called Church Initiative in WInston or Wake Forest or somewhere around there. I found out about it from the parish nurse coordinator. They have a website at

www.griefshare.org. It is part support group, part teaching about dealing with grief by some leading pastors, counselors, Christian authors, etc. They also have a place you can sign up to get a daily devotion by e-mail for a year. It has really helped me. I am getting ready to try to start a group for my church. On the website you can see what churches in your area if any have it. There are a lot here.  I have been attending one group just to see how the group part works. It is nondenominational. It is just very Scriptural, very encouraging, very Christ-centered. I highly recommend it. It validates the things people are going through and lets them know the feelings are normal and they are not weird for feeling them, but it also challenges them to move on and not get stuck in grief. The same company also puts out a program called Divorce Care for people who were recently divorced. I haven't checked it out, but I bet it is good also.

    Dowie, happy camping.

    Cherie, happy vacation.

Jill, I never iron unless I am sewing. I hate it. Used to have to iron all my dads work shirts in the days before pemanent press...and Gregg used to be a security guard and his shirts required ironing. Probably won't get to swim today. Have to go get some RX filled, some pool chemicals and a couple groceries, go to the funeral, try to work in a visit at the hospital to a lady from church who had a hysterectomy, get gas for the truck, then go to the afternoon shift at work.

Might not get to swim tomorrow either because am supposed to be meeting old friends tomorrow. If I don't meet them, then I will get to swim. If I don't meet them, will try to do it Tuesday afternoon. The one who babysat me when I was little is only here for a few days. Her sister from AK will be here a couple weeks. 2 of the 3 also work for the post office. Her brother works in a suburb of Phoenix at a station. The one in AK also work at post office. THe one who lives in TN near my brother has her own company. This lady has had the best jobs and never went to college. She worked for FBI for a long time. Then she landed a job where she got paid to travel all over Europe and evaluate motels and restaurants. She did that for years. Then she got married and worked in a hospital in Morgantown WV as something in safety education for a long time. Then her DH got moved to CHattanooga, so she started her own company. She has written a book that is called the bible of safety programs. Her name is LInda Chaff. She does safety seminars all over the country for hospitals and places.

The physical was interesting. They forgot to tell me when I filled out the HR paperwork I have to take my original birth certificate so I have to go back Monday with that. The physical was way tougher than I thought it would be. They drew titers for MMR and chickenpox and if they come back ok, I'm fine. If not, need another booster, would have to wait three weeks to get chicken pox one. Gave me a tetanus shot, a color blindness test, a bunch of other tests. A bunch of exercises down on the floor (I didn't do that well on one type of the situps so then sent me to the doctor after the end to make sure my knee was ok--it is, I just needed something to hold my feet down to do that kind very well). Had to pick up 50 lb and hold it a chest height for 10 seconds three times. A lot of the exercise type things were like double leg lift and hold 10 seconds and one that was worse--lay on stomach and do double leg lift and hold for 10 seconds. Won't know until the lab come back if I passed or not. Because the drug screen is a sendout. HR gave me an MP3 player with a bunch of stuff loaded into it that I have to listen to.

Went to Prince Caspian last night. It was good. It wasn't very crowded at all. Love the cute little mouse :-)...and of course Aslan. I was glad someone had told me to read the book first. THat helped me understand the plot and part of the characters a little better. I bet you could find a summary of the plot on line somewhere. If you wanted, I could probably give you a short summary of what happened between The Lion, The Witch, and THe Wardrobe and Prince Caspian.

Sheila, didn't get a chance to check out house yet. Sorry.

HELLO AGAIN TO EVERYONE!  Had a few minutes and thought I would say hi.  SherryS  Thank you for the info on griefshare.  One of the ministers in our church offered a grief workshop group for a while.  I'm not sure what it was called because I didn't attend, but it could have been griefshare.  My husband pastors First Baptist Church here in Cherryville....he is senior pastor and we have lived here about 6 1/2 years.  It is probably a couple hours drive from Winston-Salem.  Sometimes we have members who go there for special treatments for surgeries, although most go to Charlotte or Gastonia hospitals since they're closer.  My friend, Jennifer was at Baptist Hospital in Winston when she died.  Nurses are such special people!  I truly admire the work you guys do.  It is a gift from God.  Sometimes when we are sick, we are in such a humiliating position.  It can be embarrassing....but a great nurse knows just how to put you at ease.  I am grateful that God gave us nurses!  Thanks for all your help and support.

Today has been a lazy day so far. I was more tired than I thought!  I did so much yesterday that I guess I overdid it.  I am thinking we will grill out for dinner.  I bought some steaks on a good sale yesterday and also all the fixin's for a good salad.  That's easy enough.

Hope everyone enjoys God's blessings today!  -SherryH

I thought I would offer you guys a link to our church website.  We are in the process of hiring a new minister for outreach....he will also oversee the website and the church coffee house.  Until he arrives (hopefully in July) the website might be a little weak (LOL) but hopefully we will be back on track soon.  Cherryville is a small town of about 5500 people.  In the mid-90's, Cherryville lost is largest corporation "Carolina Freight Trucking."  People thought Cherryville would collapse without a major industry.  But Cherryville has some tough citizens (ha) and she has stood strong and has recovered well.  We even got a Super Wal-mart earlier this year....a sure sign of progress!  As our town grows, our church has been growing too.  We have about 2000 members but we usually run about 400-600 in worship each week.  We love to be involved in the community....and have lots of activities for every age group.  Like most churches, we love to have lots of activities for the kids!  Hope you enjoy seeing a little more about my life!  LOL

Just got back from Scott's and what an adorable puppy.  He just lay between my legs letting me pet him then he fell asleep.  He's getting used to his crate and his home.  We're having lunch there tomorrow so they don't have to leave him as long and I get to see him more.   LOL
