    Religeous qustion

Is the word "church" mentioned in the bible?

Yes, several times.  Just don't ask me to quote it, LOL.

It looks like the reference is to a building, and nothing more.

If I remember correctly, the word "church" is a mistranslation of a Greek word for "assembly"  or "a group of people gathered together."  The actual word had no religious significance until the KJV.  I'd have to look it up to be sure, but it seems I remember this from a religious studies class in college.

The first "churches" were actually small groups of people that met in homes.  There were no official church buildings after Jesus died.

Negativity and cutting people down never does anything except cause hurt.

The first reference that comes to mind (don't ask for book, chapter and verse!) is "Thou are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church."  I'm pretty sure He meant the people, not the building.

     Yes. It is Matthew 16:16-19

I thought that is what she meant, not the actual building.

I think it's wonderful that you can have a "friendly" discussion with your neighbor without getting down and dirty about the Bible and church.

Why on earth would I get "down and dirty" in a coversation regarding the bible and church? Not everyone is  constantly looking for a confrontation.Smile

What I meant some people fear something that they don't understand. They start with a discussion then sometimes it leads them into confrontation that is down and dirty Devil.
You will never do such a thing. Big Smile
