    ISO: Laramie, Wy. info.

I tried posting earlier this morning, but I think my original post got lost with the site being down. Anyway, if anyone is familar with Laramie, I really could use your help.

My niece is graduating high school in Michigan and will start in the fall at U of W.  Due to the fact that $$ in no problem and the girl has absolutly everything under the sun anyone would want, I'm having a hard time thinking about what I could get her as a graduation gift. DH and DD suggested gift cards to area stores and places to eat in Laramie.  Problem is, I've been unable to find in any search I've done if there is a mall in this city.  Anyone know?  I figure if it's a college town, they must have some big names stores, but then I've never been there, so I could be wrong.  If I knew what stores, or places to eat were available, maybe gift cards would be the way to go.

Any other suggestions for gifts would also be helpful and most appreciated.  Thanks so much!!

Thank you Cardinal Puff.  I gave it a try, but honestly didn't find much to help me.  I'll keep searching.  Thanks once again!

When my grandson graduated from a Michigan school also I contacted the school he was going to in another state and ordered him a school sweatshirt.  Colleges have stores with all kinds of things with the school name.  Used my credit ard to order and had it sent to me within a few days.

Here's a yellow pages site for Laramie, WY. This is the restaurant section of the pages. Also I looked up Chili's by name because many college towns have them and it's easy to get gift cards to them too. So, take a look at this site and it might help.

Thank you to everyone that has been trying to help me-----------I really do appreciate it.  From what I can see, there isn't alot in Laramie, but maybe 1 hour away is Cheyenne and it seems to have alot more of the bigger stores and places to shop.  I did find out however that they have the usual fast food places and a Starbucks.  I might get a few gift cards and then I'm going to now look into the campus bookstore and see that they might have for sale.

Once again, I really do appreciate your time and help---thank you!!

I live close to Laramie and was there Saturday to do flowers at the cemetary.  I don't know alot about "specialty" shops but there is a wal-mart and k-mart and for restaurants I know there is a village inn, applebees, perkins , mcdonalds, burger king.

    Hope this helps--

Forgot to add that even though Cheyenne is an hour away it can be the worst hour of your life on I-80 during the winter!!  It is closed frequently during the winter due to wind and snow and the "summit" can be a nightmare.

Thanks Willie for your help.  I've been trying to research the city abit more, even typing in specific store names, etc.  and either the places I'm thinking of are in Cheyenne or they aren't in Wy. at all!  I'm not sure what my niece is going to do--it's going to be so different for her where she's always had everything at her finger tips!

I am going to pass on the info. about the I-80 drive into Cheyenne to her.  Thanks so kindly for your help.

<>Sorry I was not able to get on here and reply to your post sooner!

<>We had two sons attend college at the University of Wyoming in Laramie.  There is not a lot there as Willie told you.   She pretty well summed up the shopping that is there.

One place that does come to mind, though is called the "Brown and Gold" store.  That is the University's colors and they have MANY very cool things that they sell there related to the college colors.    I know my sons enjoyed shopping there.

I'm sorry that nothing else comes to my mind besides that and what Willie has already covered.    And by all means,  HEED what she said about I-80 between Cheyenne and Laramie!   Cheyenne does have much more shopping and malls, etc. than Laramie but keep an eye out on the weather report!

I hope your niece enjoys her time in Wyoming!  Both of our sons graduated from the University and it is a very good school!
