?? Using Frosting in a Cake Decorator Tube ?

Last weekend I found this NEW Pampered Chef Decorator kit.  I really got a deal on it.  It sells now for $20 and I got it for $3.00  Lady got it for a gift and never used it,  it was all sealed up.  It has 6 nice dec tips.

My question is,  can you use Canned Soft Frosting for this ?  If not,  does anyone have a special receipe they use for one of these ?  Thanks.

Cassie you should be able to use canned frosting or any other kind of frosting with the decorator tube... I use those to fill my deviled eggs too they come out very nice and professional looking...

The reason I asked is becouse of the Texture,  but I noticed that the Tips on these are not real small.  I'am really not into home made frostings but would like to have a good receipe for one so I can use it in this kit.  One of my favorites is a Cream Cheese, or the kind that the Bakery's put on their cakes,  I think it is called a Butter Cream.

You sure can.  Canned frostings holds up really well when piped..

You got a very good deal.  What are the tips that came with it ?  It must be Star, Petal, Leaf, Round, Shell and Ribbon..  With these tips you can decorate a lot with it.  That is really all you need.  Good luck..Happy piping and decorating.

    MSBLUE RIBBON,

Thank you,  I will try it.  One more question ?  Could you please send me your receipe for basic frosting that taste like they use in Bakery's.  I believe it is just a butter cream frosting.

Cassie here is a good one to try.

    1/2 cup stick butter softened
    1/2 cup Crisco shortening
    1/8 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract
    5 cups powdered sugar
1/4 cup half-and-half cream , milk, or water

The secret is to beat icing until nice and smooth.  If it is too think add a few drops of liquid or if it is too thin add a small amount of powdered sugar
