    Hmm [^o)] "Phishing" for information?...

I checked the bulk mail on my throw away e - mail account today...it was from the "IRS". They said I was entitled to a $184.00 refund...."click here for the form...hmmm. I haven't filed income tax in 5 years, and never online!

I'll be so glad when this election's over...

Thanks for this info, MamMaw.  Sadly, many folks don't give e-mails a second thought when e-mails are requesting personal financial data.

Do Not Respond.  The good ole IRS will always send you a letter in the mail if they need to send a "refund".  This is just a lame excuse to get your financial information.

Though I have to salute you for not filing for 5 years...I wish we could do that.  Just about kills me to send them money.  We're self-employed so we send in that huge check every 3 months...whether we have the money or not!  We always live with the OMG chance that the IRS will audit us...we have sorta not been entirely honest with them!  Do they audit Donald Trump?

For gods sake whatever you do don't answer that letter. It is another of those internet scams. Usually these people are from Africa or other countires where our government can't touch them and they know it. I get something like that everyday and sometimes several a day. I need to change my email address to get rid of that crap. Once they get your info from you they will steal your identity and all the money you have in an account that you give the info to and more and you will live a life of nightmares. I also got this a month ago, It was for $182.00. I reported it to our local tv stations and they investigated it and told us that the IRS does NOT ask for that info and if you have that money coming they will automatically send it to you. That also happened to me, the IRS owed me almost $3000.00 and they sent me a check in the mail unbeknownist to me I got this check in the mail one day. There was no notice. I am just telling you this to let you know how the system works.

In your case if you haven't filed for all these years , the only letter they would send you is a warning letter but they don't even do that.

Oh, I definitely deleted it! It was in "bulk mail" . The only reason we filed five yers ago was because we hit a $25,000 lottery...they take taxes out automatically, and we wanted it back!
