Did you have lithotripsy to break up a kidney stone?
If so, the broken pieces may be getting ready to pass. I always get bladder symptoms like you are describing when I'm about to pass a stone (any size, even "sand"). There is not much the docs can give me to relieve it since it is not an infection. The symptoms end immediately when the stone(s) pass.
I can't remember right this second what the bladder calming meds are that I normally take....Pyridium and ?? The Pyridium gives me bright orange pee, I do remember that. I haven't had a stone in so long (knock on wood) that I've forgotten the other med. It keeps bladder spasms away. But as I said, not much helps but drinking a lot and passing the stone pieces. I know very well that "climb the wall" feeling beforehand!
I hope a doctor is at least on call for you today. There are drug store test strips you can use to check for blood in urine (a sure sign of stones moving) and infection. "Azo" is one co. that makes an infection test strip. The Hemastix (for blood) I've usually had to get at a specialty pharmacy, from behind the counter (and they're expensive). That pee sample you dropped off for analysis should be looked at by the nurse, at least, & checked for these things, too. That's routine.
Hang in there & I'm sorry. If this was lithotripsy & the stone pieces are on the move out, it may all be over soon. Drink a lot, and be sure to strain your pee to see if pieces of a stone have come out.
