Re: ~*~GOODMORNING ALL SAHW**COME ON IN AND CHAT WITH US AWHILE~*~

Good morning Pam, been waiting since 6:30 for you to post!  DH is working many hours today, he probably won't be home till tomorow morning, he has a floor over 3,000 sq ft to pour today.  So I will go out there sometime after school to see him, and the house, the house is a log house, aparently huge and amazing!  DH didn't build the house, but he did do the basement for it two years ago, it's such a big house, that it isn't yet ready to move into.  It is for a young family with four or five kids, DH went to school and youth group with the husband and wife.

Well, I suppose Pam would say it is cool here too, but i think it is decent for early morning.  It is 12ºC and partly cloudy.

Today I babysit only in the morning, but have library time soon.  No big plans for the day otehrwise.

    morning.

    stupid rain.  stupider wind!

    sheesh.

i could handle working in the rain, but i cannot stand this wind! it is brutally cold!  and it's only around 5 degrees here, so really cannot afford any wind chill!!

anyhow, off to do some school.  then might do some of my building projects, since i can cut them in the shop and build them in the house.  might keep myself occupied this afternoon :)  then again, a nap sounds just as pleasant today too!!

Hey Everyone, boy what a day I had. Started with the compresser on the walk in going out, got a late start to town got home late. Found out will cost $2500.00 for new one and can't get it until Tuesday because of the holiday. So to make a long story short no cold beer for the weekend. People are really going to love that.

We put the milk and deli in the soda box, won't order any more until it's fixed. They are chargeing us $80.00 an hour to come out here, takes them 2 hours to get here.

Ok enough venting, hope everyone had a good day the weather here is WINDY but only in the 70's. I really hate the wind, I guess nothing is going to make me happy todayBig Smile. Pam that dog video was great, wish I had a dog that smart. Maybe we could make enough money to pay for the new compresser LOL Take care BBL

Re: ~*~GOODMORNING ALL SAHW**COME ON IN AND CHAT WITH US AWHILE~*~

Greetings Pam, char, cookie and Marion and to the others that stop by today.

I brought virtual coffee and cinnamon rolls today. They're all calorie free. Well, you have to break the cinnamon rolls in half so the calories fall out.

We have rain in Omaha too. It contributes to the pain but other than that I feel great.

Marion - I'm sorry that your walk-in went kaput.  Maybe a lot of ice in a cheap children's swimming pool will hold enough beer for the weekend??? I love your little smilie. So cute.

char - My DH is in the construction business too. He does remodels, lays tile, drywall, but his passion is building cabinets and furniture andany other kind of woodwork.  He's a  talented man.

cookie - what kind of building projects are you working on??

Pam - Have a great day my friend.

Re: ~*~GOODMORNING ALL SAHW**COME ON IN AND CHAT WITH US AWHILE~*~

okay, hate to complain, but it is cold enough in that wind i might break out the insulated carharts later (the ones i wear all winter long!!)

jenni, i'm making a couple of benches to finish off the front deck, found this really cool and simple pattern in a magazine i bought.  and then i am going to fiddle with the pattern a bit and tweak it to make ones for the back deck, with planters... so it would be in an "L" shape, with a planter-bench-planter in the corner-another bench-ending with another planter.  planters are easy enough, they are just going to be more like covers for the plastic ones i already have. but i want to widen the seat of the bench to match the width of the planters, so that is where the tweaking comes in LOL  shouldnt be too hard really.  but want to make the bench (in the pattern) first so i get the hang of it.

i've got all the planter boxes and trellis' made for the house and lance helped me put them up on mother;s day, so if the wind/rain  would just quit i could drill the holes (dont feel like electricuting myself in the rain today!  LOL i know where is my sense of adventure right??) and get them planted.  found some honeysuckles on sale so i bought them.  not really what i wanted but will match what i did under the back deck anyhow, so it will look nice i think, since there is more of a 'theme' then...

anyhow, babbling. sorry :)  need to make lunch for the chicklets and eat myself, and then off to the shop for a bit.  just cant take staying in this dang house any longer!!

Re: ~*~GOODMORNING ALL SAHW**COME ON IN AND CHAT WITH US AWHILE~*~

Marion, sorry to hear of your troubles, that stinks!  Hey, did you know that in Canada, you cannot sell alchohol of any type in stores?  Only in liquor stores.  So needless to say, the first time I went into a convinience store when I was in the US as a teenager, I thought I had the wrong store!!  To me, it is strange seeing a mom with her kids and grocery cart and having a case of beer in it, just so wrong to my Canadian mindset.  But in Canada, you can drink legally at age 19.  Just another difference between our two wonderful countries.

Cookie, please don't share your talent with me!  don't try to teach me!  I quite enjoy watching DH do these sort of projects.  Right now, he is making a deck chair for me.

Jenn, my DH does mostly framework, but his true passion also lies in furniture/cabinet and designing and building decks.  If he could make a living doing that, he would, but at this point, we have several talented cabinetmakers in our town, and DH loves to visit and work with them.  The one guy let DH use his cabinet shop to finish our cabinets, free of charge.  One day that guy will retire, who knows, maybe DH can continue his work???

Well, pam isn't outside enjoying her weather, she is much to wimpy for these temps that she has today LOL.

Re: ~*~GOODMORNING ALL SAHW**COME ON IN AND CHAT WITH US AWHILE~*~

Jenn, thanks for the reminder of cinnamon buns.  I think Pam asked me for my recipe, or someone did!

    Large Cinnamon Rolls

    3 cups warm water

    ¼ cup sugar

    1 ½ Tbsp. salt

    ¼ cup margarine

    1 egg

    1 Tbsp. lemon juice

    1/8 cup oil

    5 cups white flour

    2 Tbsp. yeast

Blend together water, sugar, salt, margarine, egg, lemon juice, oil, yeast, and 3 cups of flour.  Beat until smooth.  Add remaining flour, enough to make soft dough.  Knead until smooth.  Let rise until double.

    Sauce

    Pecans

    1 cup butter

    1 cup margarine

    ½ cup apple juice

    4 Tbsp. thick cream

    3 cups brown sugar

Melt butter and margarine combined.  Set aside ½ cup butter mixture.  Divide rest between two 9x13 pans.  Add ¼ cup apple juice and 2 Tbsp cream to each pan and stir.  With fork, stir 1 ½ cups brown sugar into each pan and sprinkle with pecans to cover.

    Filling

    White Sugar

    Brown Sugar

    Cinnamon

Once dough has risen double, punch down and put on greased and floured board.  Let rest for 10 minutes, then roll out to a 1 inch thick rectangle (I divide my dough into two batches).  Spread remaining butter mixture over dough.  Sprinkle cinnamon on top of sugars.  Roll up along long side.  Cut into rolls (12 per pan, will be big).  Let rise for 15 minutes.  Bake at 350º for 35-45 minutes or until golden brown.  Then turn out upside-down onto greased aluminum foil (VERY IMPORTANT!!)  Let cool, and enjoy!
