Pat thats good to have the cooler weather and smoke gone.

Ada - take it easy in this hot weather.

Ann - keep us posted - thats good that you have that doctors note done and can hand it in before you leave rather than after and yes it will give you some time as to what you want to do next. This surgery is the most important thing right now and not work.

Dolores - busy day for you - its better that your mom is out of the house - so you and your sister don't have to worry all the time I would think.

Cookie - poor dog - thats so sad - if there any hope for him - course he wants to be close to the one that is his caregiver. Boy you are one busy girl-gee I hope you sell soon so you can get situated and Lance can be at home too. You really need help.

    Music

    Coffee Good Morning ALL!!

What a sight I had last night, watching the fireworks from my balcony. I'm lucky to have a good view, so there were lots to see!

I start my training today, so this is a flying visit. Ann, my thoughts are with you. Hang in there! Belated greetings for missed birthdays and anniversaries. I'm sure that I must have missed some along the way.

Ah, cookie, I remember being up to my ears with my 2 when they were little. Not like your kind of busy, but still, busy enough, and I was told by an aunt, that we just do what we gotta do, and worry about how we got it all done, later. You'll look back and KNOW that you are SuperMom, or something. What colour are YOUR SuperMom tights?

I do hope that all who are travelling are having a pleasant and safe trip, and all that are heading out, the same. Poor Crea, I think we learn about patience and our level of tolerance in the strangest situations. Yours is long past strained, and gaining stretch marks, I suspect. And poor kitty. He'll be so happy when it's all over, I'm sure.

Take care all, and I'll look in again tomorrow, if possible.

    Quick extra comment....

Just checking my emails, I see the Taste of Home newsletter there. Now, I know there are far fewer Canadians than Americans on this site and receiving the newsletter, but how come the newsletters are full of 4th of July recipes, etc., and Canada Day doesn't even receive and acknowledgement? Is it so hard for them to simply call them Canada Day and 4th of July celebration recipes? Or maybe to have a separate section of recipes for multicultural picnic and celebration ideas to celebrate multiculturalism we enjoy on OUR birthday?

     Sorry...rant over...

Hi all, one garden all weeded, one more to go. But my DH decided to put the water on it so it likely won't get done today. Gee, can't you just see my disappointment!!!!!!!

I pulled one potato plant yesterday, I always do on July 1st just tradition, I guess. Anyway there was 7 spuds under it, 2 about the size of a hen's egg and the rest smaller. We will each get a taste tonight.LOL

I agree Viola, and that is the reason I have not renewed some of my magazines from them. I get Our Canada and love it. At least it is all Canadian, for now, anyway. Time for a quick lunch, making a big supper tonight when the kids get back.  BBL

Laura, or anyone who has made her sour dough bread.

Do you warm the water when you mix it with the flour & yeast?

Ann, my prayers are with you during your surgery.  Also for Samantha.

Well my two rooms are looking so good now. I got one coat of paint on my bookshelves. I think then I WILL  be done unless the painting. Unless the guys think different. Whne the new window gets put in, then 'll have to do the trim around that but I'll worry about that when the time comes. Got the cleaning done, DH ran the vacuum for me, cleaned store boughten strawberries for shortcake, got cucumbers in the bowl with salt on them, got squash sautéing for a casserole I got off the BB. Now I'm waiting for an answer on Laura's bread to get that going. I want to do it while the ac is off. I think it does better in a warmer room.

Crea, if you see this& you have her email, would you mind asking her please?

    Thanks.

    Marilyn

ok, that is my luck, a bread making question, and no body is here but me.........lol

it has been years since i baked bread, but i would say WARM water, as i believe the yeast will not activate with cold water. i made a whack of bread with the kids all home, but always used warm water in my sour dough bread. hope that helps, but hey, i could be all wrong too. lol

been at my moms house again all day. we are very close to being done.......i cry every darn day that i am there. i think that is ok, part of my grief process . have a good cry and get my butt in gear and work!!

i have to work tonight....just relaxing for a bit before i start.

    have a great evening ladies

Ann, if you read this, please know that YF is thinking of you and praying for you. even though she is away, her heart is with you.

Yep Marilyn as I fly through.  Warm water,  if its too hot it kills the yeast (sourdough is a natural form of yeast) and if its not warm enough the yeast doesn't activate.  You want the water to feel warmer than body temperature but not so warm you'd consider it hot.  (105-110 F) I believe is the range you're aiming for.

C-ook-ie.  Meeting done and no blood or shouting exchanged.  I lasted the full 2  1/4 hours.  I di have some nasty thoughts and sarcastic comments run through my head.  Nothing verbalized out loud though.

    Better scoot, tractor calls.    Pat

Thanks girls, I had never heard of adding yeast without warming the water first. I sure didn't want to mess this up. I want to make the wilderness bread. I'll make a note on the recipe so I don't forget.

Yes Claire, she is as annoying as Meesh' ACW.  The only thing is I don't have to deal with her as often  only on a 'sometimes' basis. I guess my dimplomacy and patience lessons need a refresher.   This too shall pass.
