    New Member!!!!!

WinkHi my name is Jennifer from Green River, WY!!!!!  I am excited to be part of this group and look forward to trying new things!  One of the main reason I signed up for this group is, my husband and I just bought a house and money is very tight right now!!!!! And I need to stratch it as far as it can go.  I guess there's not much to say except "HELLO" to every one!!!!!!!Wink

Welcome Jennifer!! You've definitely come to the right place to learn some money saving ideas.  I am a 41 year old SAHM of two in WA.  My husband just went back into the Army last year.  I have received so many helpful ideas and hints from the people on this site.  Even though some of the things I have asked should be obvious, I'm never made to feel as if I have asked a stupid question.  All questions are answered fairly quick and with varying answers.  When one persons idea doesn't work, I pretty much have always gotten one from someone else that does.

Hello from the sw corner of ND. My husband lived in Casper  (way back when) before going to Alaska in 59 where I met and married him him in 62. I am the oldest member of the TOH bulletin board and will be 81 in August. This is a nice group but sometimes a little slow.

Welcome and greetings from NW Pennsylvania.  This is a good group of people.  There is a lot to learn.  If you are just starting out I suggest you get ahold of the Tightwad gazette - it changed my life.

Welcome Jennifer!  I think you'll find many good ideas here.  I know that I do!  Sometimes I feel guilty because I take more ideas than I give!

Gr_elo...Are you saying the people in this group are a little slow????   LOL Just kidding.  The board is slow at times but that's fine if you're not in a hurry..slow down and relax.

Welcome from the North Jersey/NYC area where things are expensive and we need to be tightwads.  I agree with JanetPlanet about The Tightwad Gazette..it got me started on being frugal too.

    Welcome from Central VA!

I'm all about saving $$ - I guess we all are on here :P  Anyways, I've never checked out the Tightwad Gazette, but one of the best things DH & I EVER did was to sit down and make a realistic budget, and do our very best to stick to it.  He does HVAC work, and generall makes decent OT, but there are sometimes when it gets tight.  And try as hard as you can to establish a good savings, even if it's just a few $$ a week that you can add to it.

I try to garden and can or freeze as much as I can to cut down on groceries, and also try to only grocery shop once a month.  Sometimes you have to get something in between (milk, etc), but we have 2 small chest freezers, and I buy my meat in the bulk pkgs and freeze in Ziploc bags the smaller sizes.  I also freeze sandwich meat, cheese, butter, etc. that I buy but won't use right away.

You'll find all kinds of $ saving tips here!!  Enjoy :)

Check out my blog, www.mycountrycupboard.blogspot.com to see how I do it!

Another way to save money on meat is to buy a cow and a pig!!!!!  If you have a big enough freeze.  That is my next step beside starting to make my own bread!!!!!  Came to that conclusion today!!!!!!  We ran out and I have nothing to bake some!!!!!!Surprise
