Wow, are we a quiet bunch, or what???  No posts yesterday - I'm figuring we were just all too busy with our yarn crafts, right???

It has been a delightful weekend, that's for sure!

    HI Betty

Yep I was busy all last week with yarn crafting.  Almost done with the baby afghan I'm knitting maybe tonight but tomorrow for sure it will be done.  Then I checked out 2 books from the library on knitting  Knit to Fit and Handknitters Handbook so been busy trying to understand all that math for shaping a sweater.  But my brain is confused at the moment on that.

How is your projects coming along?

Hope everyone had a good 4th weekend.

    Just thought I'd jump in here----hope it's okay.I

have been crocheting a baby blanket while watching the Olympic swim trials on TV which were held here in Omaha.  There is so much "down time" in these that I get a lot done.

Anyone have a favorite pattern stitch for KNITTED scarves?

Knitters seem to be in the minority.

    Hi everyone

Had a good fourth and a good weekend. I did finish a blanket buddy for my granddaughter. She seems to love it.

Also had to pick green beans. I got two ice cream buckets full. I also need to pick my rhubarb again. Never enough time for all the things I want to do.

Kathie glad the yarn made it and you liked it. If you need any more or anything else let me know.

Well it is end of the month, end of the quarter and end of the fiscal year so better get to work. Have a grand day everyone. Jeanette

I must confess, I use a garter stitch all the time, because I have switched to the textured yarns like the eyelash, and they don't work well with a pattern.Embarrassed

Lert - I too use garter stitch all the time with textured yarns.  But I have a stash of plain yarn; thought I'd use it to make scarves to donate somewhere.  Didn't want every scarf to be garter stitch.

I did a google search and have found some pattern stitches that look good.  Also a garter zigzag I'm going to try.   And another idea that sounds interesting - garter stitch, but when binding off, don't bind off the first three or last three stitches - slip off these stitches and unravel along length of scarf for fringe (don't think this would work with eyelash or similar).

    Hi everyone

Marcia I loved the blog. I loved the picture of your granddaughter in her new dress and bonnet.  She looks adorable.

I have not gotten to crochet. Too many meetings and too much work this week.

Hope everyone is having a good week. Jeanette

Marcia, great blog.  I made your oatmeal bread yesterday.  It was great.  I think the humidity here might have messed with it a little, as the top looked like craters and had a small hole on the top.  Does yours ever do that?  Still tasted great and DD took it to a picnic with her friends.  I will defintely make again and again.

    Thanks

oh, and about my crafting- I started making jar toppers to sell at the church botique in Nov.

Howdy Yarncrafters! Man! This place takes longer to load these ays than some of the more graphically intense blogs I visit (or attempt to visit LOL) Took me several attempts to get here, and stay here long enough to post.

Marcia, your blog is great! I had a heck of a time deciding which posts to respond to today. LOL Finally just chose two and posted. That BLT dip looks really good. I need to get back to your site to copy both that and the cake recipe you posted. Thank you so much for adding me to your blog list! I've added you to mine as well.

I was so proud of myself for getting the placket knitted for Nathan's shirt. I was showing it to him, and explaining that I needed to make sure I sewed them up correctly then I could sew the buttons on the one. It was then it occured to me, after all that practicing, I forgot to knit the button holes in! Yikes! Good thing I hadn't seewn them up yet! I ripped the one back far enough to reknit it with the buttonholes. Now I'm just hoping I was generous enough with my tail to make up for the extra stitches! Geez! It was all going so good too! LOL

Re knitted scarf patterns, what I usually do these days is just pick a stitch I like, hopefully one that will be symmetric so I don't end up needing to graph it together. There are cables of course. Another I've used is the little hourglass pattern. You might try looking at dishcloth patterns for inspiration. Also, a site you might want to check out is knittingpatterncentral.

The weather finally decided to get summery for us. Of course now everyone's concerned about the grass and brush that had an extra growth spurt due to all the rain earlier on that is now doing a fine job of drying out. We've been busy cutting all we can back on our property. We've been lucky for so long, just hope our luck doesn't run out. Love living in the country, but there are special concerns that go along with it.

We're having a late dinner tonight and it's close to ready so I gotta run. Hope you all had a fun long weekend, and are having a good week!

Lynn, thank you for adding me to your blog reader!  That is too cool and for the guest book entry!

I also added God's Tiny Angels to my list of websites.  That is an important one! :) :) :)
