    Re: Healthy Choices 07/14/08

Maureen, I suggested DH might have to go back to a regular bedframe instead of the one he built with this new mattress but he wouldn't even discuss it.

I understand because he really went to a lot of trouble to make these beds....but I mean, this mattress is Way High Up.  I should measure how high it is off the floor just for the heck of it.

Hold on a minute and let me see if I have a tape measure up here without him  catching me.  Tee Hee Smile

Hmm, it's not as high as it looks.  It's 36" high.  The base he made is 12' so the new mattress/box is 24" thick.

But it's too high for a normal person to get into so he'll have to use a step to get into it.

On the noisy TV and hearing loss.  I'm not sure if DH has a loss or just likes it loud.  In the winter he says it's loud because the fan on the Pellet stove is too noisey.  In the summer  he says it's just the commercials that are loud.  But since he worked in Telecommunications all those years and there is constant noise in those switch rooms,  I'd be surprised if all those guys don't suffer from Some hearing loss.

And speaking of TV, I really liked that sectional but no way will it fit in  our house.  DH's suggestion is to buy  a New  Huge flat screen and hang it on the wall, freeing up the corner where the already paid for,  Huge TV  that is not flat, sits.  We are 2 people, who own 4 TVs, and just sold one big one in the yard sale.....and he would go buy another one just so I could get that sectional in the house.  He would be willing to sacrafice that much for me.  What a sweetheart !!

    LOL Big Smile

    Hi everyone,

Sue, I'm sorry, I misunderstood.  I thought they let you know when you got there.  I'm glad they did it all they way they should. How is your Dad doing now?  I hope he's okay.  When they are older, like our parents are, an injury can be very upsetting to them.  I know that my Mom would be unsettled for days and days if she fell.

Barb, have fun with Heather for the next two days, but watch out for the donuts. LOL  As if I had to warn you.  I did get another crockpot and it's an ovel one.  I know what you mean about the old ones working better.  The small round one I have always works well, I just wish it was a little larger.  I wouldn't have even bothered to get another one.  I'll have to let you know how this one works once I try it.

Maureen, the picnic sounds so nice, minus the mosquitoes.  What purpose do they serve, anyway???  DH and I were enjoying a nice evening on the deck last night and were chased in by the mosquitoes.  Sometimes he sprays, but not too often.  We're just not sure what that chemical does to people, yuk!

Vammie, I know you'll let us know if you hear anything from Marti.  DH said so many heart patients go into denial and just don't want to accept what's happening.  I hope and pray Joe will be okay.

We were going to go to the Blue Canyon Restaurant tonight for dinner. It's very nice, but a little on the expensive side.  Well, for the month of July, Monday is Date Night and you get a salad, choice of dinner, dessert and even a dessert to take home for the baby-sitter and all for only $35.00.  DH asked me if I thought they would believe we had a baby-sitter at home.  LOL   Unfortunately, my stomach isn'  t feeling too well and I'm not up to eating out tonight, so the "date" is off for this Monday.  :(

Will check back later to see if we hear anything from Marti.

Have a good evening.  Jo Ann

OK...here's an update.  Just talked with Shirley.  She didn't have a very good day today.  Her medicines are sort of making her sick.  The visitng nurse came today...the same one they had for Waldo and they really liked her.  The PT will come tomorrow.  She is up and moving but cannot sit at the computer.  Her computer chair is comfy but has wheels...on a hardwood floor and she's afraid of falling.  The dining room chairs are not comfortable.  So....she isn't going to try to get on the computer much.  I'm thinking she's ready for some calls now.

I also tried to reach Marti again...and to no avail.  Left another message on her cell phone.  I sure hope we hear something soon.
