    Anybody have a good chow chow recipe

    I  Lost mine, all I remember is green tomatoes, cabbage and pickling spice not the measurements,I think it had vinegar also...here in northwest Florida tomatoes are getting their second wind so I have lots of green tomatoes...

    Chow Chow

    1/4 peck green tomatoes

    1/4 peck string beans

    3 c.  shelled Lima beans

    3 c. corn

    5 green peppers

    1 quart onions

    1 large head cauliflower

    2 c. sugar

    3 quarts cider vinegar

    1/2 c. salt

    2 tbsp. celery seed

    2 tbsp. mustard seed

    1/2 pound ground mustard

    1 tbsp. turmeric powder

    Cut the string beans in pieces; break the cauliflower into flowerets, add the lima beans and corn.  Add to a lg. pot with water and cook all four indredients about 25 min.  Chop the onions, peppers and tomatoes.  Heat the vinegar and when hot, add the sugar, salt and spices which have been mixed together.  Drain the water from the cooked vegetables and add to the hot vinegar.  Then cook about 25 minutes, stirring constantly.  Pour into sterilized jars and seal.

    Chow Chow Relish

    1 quart chopped cabbage (about 1 sm. head)

    3c. chopped cauliflower

    2 c. chopped green onion

    2c. chopped sweet green peppers

    1c. chopped sweet red peppers

    3tbsp. salt

    2 1/2c. vinegar

    1 1/2c.sugar

    2tsp. dry mustard

    1tsp. turmeric

    1/2tsp. ground ginger

    2tsp. celery seed

    1tsp. mustard seed

    Combine chopped vegetables; sprinkle with salt.  Let stand 4-6 hours in a cool place.  Drain well.  Combine vinegar, sugar and spices; simmer 10min.  Add vegetables; simmer 10min.  Bring to boiling.  Pack, boiling hot, into jars, leaving 1/8 inch head space.  Process 10 min.  Adjust caps.  Yeilds about 4 pints

    this recipe has already been copied several times by me for everyone at work .it sounds so yummy.the one i have .is a plain recipe but this one with the green beans and  limas .sounds so good.Im going to  busy and make some up next weekend .got grandkids this weekend so i knwo i could not get it done..lol again thanks for this recipe
