Keep John, Stan and Becky in your prayers as this was John and Tam’s anniversary and I know they are feeling a little low today. Maybe Smiley Day is an appropriate day for Tam since she could always bring a smile to our faces. For our newbies that do not know who Tam is and why she is always mentioned. Tam started our CS’s group years ago and then she passed the baton to me about 3 years ago.  Stan and Becky were her son and his wife and John was her husband. Today is World Smile Day celebrates the ever popular yellow smiley. It also offers us an opportunity to do an act of kindness. According to the World Smile Day website, a proclamation of this day was made by the U.S. Congress. Now that should put a smiley on your face.  The smiley face became so popular, that the U.S. Post Office issued a stamp with the smiley face.  The intent of World Smile Day is to do an act of kindness, or help one person to smile. Why not do both!?  The yellow smiley stands brightly smiling upon this day, offering it's stamp of approval.   Thought for the Day- God understands our prayers even when we can't find the word to say them.-Unknown  Special hugs and prayers for Betty, Merle, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel and Floyd, Roberta, Ruth, and Anne.   Remember the group prayer! “Heavenly Father, we ask that you watch over and care for all Cookin’ Seniors and those they love as they go about their day!!”  Zora

    • Technology can be wonderful.  Bob forgot to bring the phone number of the camper place with him today to check what plug we need for the Tada.  I told him to go get my laptop bag and I would get it.  So he did and I got on the internet and got it for him while we were eating lunch out.

    • Too bad I can not say the same about Camper World!! We went down to get the plug changed and they told us it would be about an hour.  NOT!! We ended up sitting there for nearly 5 hours!! Glad they have a dog friendly environment.  Both Shorty and Emily were in the waiting room and they were both so good.  Everybody that came by commented on how good and quiet they were.  I was so proud of them.

    • Anne-It was wonderful to see you.  I do hope you will join us much more often!!  I may need camping advice and recipes!! LOL  I will bump up the Nice to Meet You post so you can read about our new friends!!

    • Leisa-yep it has a refrigerator very small but it is there.  Congratulations to your son on getting his GED!!

    • Now I am off to bed before I pass out!!

    • Hugs and prayers for all!

Morning…early good morning!! Can’t sleep and I am so tired from being at the fairgrounds yesterday. Then I left to go take care of Dad. He was eating some soup that the neighbor had brought (I knew he could use the microwave…LOL) then I changed his sheets and did 2 loads of laundry. I called DH after I left and he (bless his heart!!!) told me to go home and put my feet up. He stayed at the bldg until almost 8pm (which is when we close)…but if no one is there at 7:30pm…we leave!!! Today’s hours are 9am-8pm. But I’ve got to take Dad to a dr’s appt then go by Walgreen’s for milk and some OTC things for Dad. Then I’ll take Dad home and get him set up for the day. I’ll go out to the fairgrounds for the really long day, now that I’m awake!! It’s thundering and it looks like we’ve had some rain…we need it…everything is so dry and dusty!!
This is a good day to remember Tam as she did bring a smile to our faces. Bless John…I know it’s been hard on him…it has been for Dad…when you’ve been together for that long…
Zora, a plug took 5 hrs…you are more patient than I am!!! What??? I think ALL of you were very good…Bob, Zora, Emily & Shorty…get a “patient award”!!!  All of the main bldgs got fire alarms and yesterday was the inspection from the fire marshal!! Man, I thought they would NEVER get thru!!! My aching ears!!!
MargaretE, everyone doing their own crafting sounds nice…Mom was a member of the Stitchery Guild here and one lady always brought her knitting while the rest of the club worked on other projects. Have a good lunch. I’m making some little things to put in the Country Store at our fair…I have to have stuff to do when it is so slow while waiting on people to come put in their booths…makes me feel useful and I don’t get as bored!! When there are people out there, some will come talk…yesterday had a larger group and not all were needed to put in the booth…so one came to talk!!
LindaChicken, good to see you!! Stop in more often!! How’s your Mom? And the rest of your family?
Well, I’m filling the baskets with lots of hugs and prayers for all…guess I’ll go start getting ready…see ya’ll later…

    Good Morning Everyone,

I think we had our first frost last night,  the leaves are all changing colors, except ours, we have oaks and they are the last to give up the fight, and the last to fall.

Floyd is in the nursing home.    He still can't sit up on his own.    The Dr. who checked him out of the VA asked me what I fed him at home, he was malnurished.....(I wanted to say, "You've had him for two weeks and he isn't any better." )   It doesn't matter how much he eats, his body is not absorbing the food.

Anne, nice to see you again.

A friend gave me the name of a man who does metal pick ups,  we have a lg. chest freezer and an apartment size gas stove in the basement that I have to get rid of, so will call him sometime today.   Also have to call and make an appointment to get my car inspected.

Zora, did you bring a book to read at the "plug" place?   When ever I bring a book, I never have time to read it, when I don't bring a book, I sit and twiddle my thumbs for hours!

Hope you all have a wonderful day,

    Mabel

Oh, Mabel!! You are nicer than I would have been to that dr!!! I would have said what you thought and then some more!!  Hugs to you and Floyd!! Good to see you. We miss you when you aren't here.

Top of the morning to everyone.

Guess I'm in a "not-so-nice" mood because the first thing I thought (ZORA) when you mentione the dogs being SO good and then being stuck there for 5 hours was that you should have not kept a tight reign on those sweet dogs of yours. I promise you that if Dakotah had been there they would have had us out less than the ONE HOUR. DevilDog

Also MABEL~~You should have said what you were thinking. That is part of the problem with his health, can't they see that after he has been there that long????

I'm really just stopping by quickly as I have to take Sir Pounce in for his surgery, then scoot myself to the doctor for my yearly exam (Oh joy).

DD had to find someone else to take the little one today.

When I get back we will be picking up my parents and taking them to meet up with my brother and SIL to celebrate their anniversary. THEY called and asked us to meet at a mid point.....I about fell off the chair. This is a first and I can't help but wonder Hmm

Keeping John, Stan and Becky in my thoughts and prayers.

Wishing you all a beautiful day.

    Tippytoes

Punchinello laughed, "Me, special? Why? I can't walk fast. I can't jump, My paint is peeling, Why do I matter to you?"

Eli...spoke very slowly, "Because you're mine, That's why you matter to me."

    Good Morning Friends!!

Thoughts of Tam bring a smile to my heart!  She was soooooo special!

Zora, jumping for joy that you have that new camper!  Oh, what fun is in store for you!  My crockpot gets a workout in the campground, in fact they call me the crockpot queen!!

Oh-la-la!!  Love the pic of Scott!  The cake looks good too, of course I have a thing for chocolate (and good looking men)!

    (((Mabel)))  Wish I could help.............

Tanner will be here soon, that ought to keep me out of trouble today.  I think we'll go into town and do some shopping (Wii games) and take in a movie, something about a lost dog that he wants to see.

Wishing you all a #10 day!!

    Hugs,

    Good morning, CS.

Nice day for me to walk, but it will get wet later on.

ZORA, I looked at all the views of your trailer and it seems like it will be quite adequate for your short trips.

MARGARET E, love the butterflies this morning. I always try to have butterfly attracting plants around my patio. Do you have a favorite place for lunch or do you have fast food places to go to?

LINDA C, that wave got to WI all the way from OK.

CILLA, good you got sent home by DH-----you sure have lots of get up and go. We merged Scrapping Night and Crafts at church, so we had a good group doing all kinds of projects. Several of us are working on things for the Fall Faire. If you see a neat idea for crafts I would like to hear about it.

MABEL, one night of frost here, just enought to nip some of the plants. Don't you just want to slap the doctor with such a foolish question. Hope you told him a thing or two. Same here, if I forget a book or knitting to do, it's twiddling thumbs time. Isn't that Murphy's Law?

TIPPY, good luck on all the points of your busy day. Enjoy the family visit and celebration.

ANNE, it was so good to see you back. I thought of you often while you were enjoying your camping. The Wii games are fun, I have done bowling and baseball with Bradley. My DGC say you will enjoy the dog movie.

Our errand list was completed yesterday, so today is a stay-at-home day.

Thinking of Tam's family today with fond memories of her.

    Re: 10/07/08

    Good morning!

It sounds like we need those smiley faces here today, with the many frustrations faced.  ZORA, 5 hrs. was cruel & unusual punishment!  MABEL, that MD did not realize the implied blame in his question!  It was tactless, to say the least, & he deserved to be told that.  I wish I could be there for support.  TIPPY, all I have to say, is "SIBLINBS"!  But enjoy your day.  The yearly will be over soon.  Will you get your flu shot, too?  That was the first thing my doc did when I went for mine last week.

LEISA, congratulations to your DS!  He is certainly applying himself well during his 'time out'!  And SS can be frustrating, too, with its many rules.  I only wish they were truly as efficient as their paper work implies.  BTW, you have mail.

ANNE, it's SO good to see your smiling face.  I really missed you during your long absence.  Hope your health report is good, and you enjoy the day out with Tanner.

I hope everyone has a great day - smiles & waves to all - Helen

    Hi to all,

Anne so good to see you back with us, you were missed!!

We have been off in our camper this past week-end with another trip planned for this next one, and then we will unpack for the winter and winterize the plumbing.  Last week-end we went to a campground that had each site decorate for Halloween and then the kids went "trick or treating", there was also a costume contest but only for the little ones, we had been told that it was for all so I took 3 boxes of clothes for our group and just had to bring them home and unpack.  Guess I will have to go to Wal Mart for my usual "jaunt" on Halloween.  I love to go in there and harass the customers and some of the employees as well.

Cats or anyone that watched the Talent show, we watched some of it but did not know anyone's name.  Who was the one that won?  I know his name but not  which one he was.  I thought the young guy that was big was from Mo. but not sure that he was the winner.  Anyone help?

Mabel around here scrap metal is bringing alot, be sure that you get enough for what you are letting the guy have, especially if he is going to sell it.  It is sold by the pound and for appliances he will get lots of money.  There is always ads in the newspaper here for people to come get your old scrap metal, they will even come clean out the ditches on farms.

Zora your camper looks neat, it will be fun.  We never go far in ours but always enjoy it.

Hi to the rest of you and I hope that you all have a good day.  Dreary and rain here but is supposed to get better in a couple of days.  Stay well!

    Later,

Whooo Hooo, the Fed Ex box came this morning from Notre Dame that I bought Sat.............I've go all kinds of new goodies, just like Christmas......I'll be all decked out.

Partly sunny here in Indiana today & it's 75, very nice, rain supposed to be coming in tonight, I'll be glad to have DH home for a few days.  They got our beans in yesterday, now all that is left is the corn.......will be glad when it's all over.

Talked to DD this morning, she's having problems with one of her employees.......she takes it so personally.

Don't know what I'm having for dinner this evening, didn't lay anything out of the freezer.........we'll see, maybe soup & a grilled cheese.  Easy so I can get in my chair early.

Good to see you Anne........you have been missed.

Hope everyone is having a good day.
