Coffee [C] Mom2Mom Recipe Chat! Crock Pot creations!!!!!! Everyone Welcome!!!

    Hi everyone,

I don't see where anyone started us off for the week!

For the regular Mom2Momers, if you have any great ideas for threads please feel free to start us up on Sunday nights or Monday mornings!

I thought this week we could share some of our recipes using the Crock Pot! Or is it a slow cooker? I have always considered them the same thing.

Anyway, please feel free to stop by and say Hello! Chat and share a recipe!

I hope everyone has a fantastic week!

Re: Mom2Mom Recipe Chat! Everything Chocolate!!!! Please join us!

Didn't know if I was suppose to start a new thread or not. Huh? I'm about ready to kill my mouse for my computer though. It's having a hard time moving around, time to get a new one. Cathy, the turkey breast done this way is yummy. I leave out the salt and leave the skin on the breast. Took lots of pictures at the Halloween stroll. I was so tired though. Both kids rode in the wagon and that is  a lot of work. I'll post pics as soon as I load them. Here's the recipe....mines in the crockpot right now.

Laurie's Light Cranberry Orange Turkey Breast

Monday Mom and Dad -Michael and Laurie Ballam

    1 turkey breast, skin removed
15 oz can whole-berry cranberry sauce
1 envelope dry onion soup mix
    1/2 cup orange juice
    1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. black pepper, fresh ground

    1. Spray bottom of slow cooker with non stick olive
      oil spray
    2. Place turkey breast in slow cooker
    3. Combine remaining ingredients. Pour over turkey.
    4. Cover.  Cook on low 6-8 hours.
    5. If desired, you may add more orange juice to the drippings in the bottom
of the crockpot and thicken with cornstarch to make a delicious glaze for your
       rice or potatoes.

Serve with green salad, wild rice and a fresh vegetable for a nutritious, healthy meal.

I made this on Thanksgiving, minus the egg.  I like to be able to reheat my leftovers and did not think the egg was needed.

If you're hosting a big Thanksgiving dinner this year, add this simple, slow-cooked stuffing to your menu to ease entertaining. “This recipe comes in handy when you run out of oven space at large family gatherings,” assures Mrs. Donald Seiler from her home in Macon, Mississippi. “I use it often.”

    SERVINGS: 12

    CATEGORY: Lower Fat

    METHOD: Slow Cooker

TIME: Prep: 30 min. Cook: 3 hours

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup chopped onion
    • 1 cup chopped celery
    • 1/4 cup butter
    • 6 cups cubed day-old white bread
    • 6 cups cubed day-old whole wheat bread
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
    • 1 teaspoon rubbed sage
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) reduced-sodium chicken broth or vegetable broth
    • 1/2 cup egg substitute

    Directions:

In a small nonstick skillet over medium heat, cook onion and celery in butter until tender. In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, salt, poultry seasoning, sage and pepper. Stir in onion mixture. Combine broth and egg substitute; add to bread mixture and toss to coat.
Transfer to a 3-qt. slow cooker coated with cooking spray. Cover and cook on low for 3-4 hours or until heated through. Yield: 12 servings.

Hi all.  We had a good weekend - went to the circus on Sunday.  I forgot how much I love the circus.  Some stomach thing is going around here and I don't feel that great today.  I hope it goes away because I get DGS on Tuesday and won't take him if I feel like this because I can't risk him getting sick this week.  It will be a big, big week for him.  Wednesday they celebrate his birthday at school, Thursday is his real birthday (5 already) plus they are celebrating Halloween at his school, then Friday is Trick or Treating and Saturday is his family birthday party.  I cannot risk him feeling like this.

Great topic Redawna.  I will post a few recipes this week.

Hello to everyone popping in today.

     good afternoon all,

i haven't been on much...got a new computer so i was out of commission for a bit.

the toh cooking school was much fun.  i'd say about 400 women and a few men were there and the chef made about 10 different items and they give you a toh magazine with the recipes included and you can follow along if you want.  i would rather watch her and come home and review them.  the dishes she prepares are given away at the end of the night as well as many other nice things.  i didn't win anything, but my sil and i had a great time.  this was my third cooking show and i will try and go again next year if it is around here.

i'm glad redawna, that you asked for crock pot recipes...i need to find some that i can make so dh can eat something hot when he comes home from work and i am already at work...i do love that pot roast you posted.  i have made it many times and we love it.

looks like i will have a car again tonight.  it has been about 6 weeks and i have missed not having a vehicle.  dh had to fix this truck and worked every day he could on it...he had 3 of those weeks with manditory ovetime so that ate up all those days.  i am off today so he will pick me up around 430 when he gets home and we'll go out to his sister's and pick up the truck.. you don't know how much you appreciate your car until you don't have it for a while.

there was a girl at work..a cashier..who worked thursday evening and decided to go to  the wal mart after she finished and had a heart attack and died in the parking lot of the wal mart..so horrible for her son and brother....

i made chicken noodle soup yesterday and it will be good this week since the weather is to change to snow.  i could eat soup every day, but not dh....i make alot and freeze it in containers for my lunch.

i'll talk to you later.  having a cup of tea. dh't daughter brought me tea bags from london. sooo good.

Redawna I am freezing so I might need your snow suits. The only thing is it is only 34 maybe. And Friday it is suppose to be in the 40s I think.

Mary I am sorry to hear about the girl you work with. That is so sad. Glad you had a great time at the TOH show. Hope you had a good day off.

Sue I hope you feel better quickly. What a big week for DGS!! I hope he has a great week sounds like big fun for him.

Rachelle My mouse has been acting crazy too. I don't know what is wrong with it.

I had a doctor appointment today. It went well. Then I went to look for the boys some pants and ended up buying the baby 3 oneis, 2 pants, 1 sleeper, 1 shirt, 1 dress and a sweater for $6. Then went to Wal-Mart and found the boys some pants for $5 a piece. Came home and my nose stopped up and it is running too, lovely sinuses!!

Better go and get the boys ready for bed. Hope everyone had a good day.

Hello Ladies'! I would love to contribute recipes, but all my recipes are on my laptop. Since I'm staying at mom's, and she still has dial-up, I can't hook up to it with my laptop. I've been posting through my iPhone so recipes will have to wait until I get home in a couple days. I have tons of chocolate recipes too but...oh well. There will be another day. Sue- I haven't been able to chech the other site but I wondered if you received your recipes from the swap? I was so glad to have gotten you as a partner! Redawna- have you actually tried that beef roast recipe that you posted? It sounds great but I just wonder if more water is necessary with three powder mixed. Well, I'll stop here. Hope you all have a great week! Shannon
