    Anyone own "CUTCO" knives ?

My cousins GD was selling them once and I kind of felt obligated to buy SOMETHING !   I ended up with the all purpose knife, which I believe was about $35.00     LOVE IT !!!!!  Dh and I have probably used it 300 times and it is still sharp as new ! Anyway next weekend is the big Annual home Show and I see Cutco Co. is going to be there.

The knife I'am thinking about is a good Paring one.  The two I have are worthless.

I have a set of knives and also exra pieces,  that I inherited from my Mom,  I love the handles, but truthfully. the  knives are not my favorites and the ones that I use often! I understand that if one breaks the factory will replace it for free.

My nephew sold them while he went through college. They are wonderful in my opinion, pricey, but wonderful! He did a demonstration for me, and he used their kitchen shears to slice a penney in half.

I love my Cutco knives.  They are pricy, but worth it.  I own several and just recently bought the Butcher knife.  My favorite though is the French knife.  When I got it, it was razor sharp.  Started buying them about 25 years ago.

Way back when, in the summer of 1963, I bought a complete set of CUTCO knives. The salesman actually sold my Mom -who was frugal as all get out, normally -on them via his demonstration. The price I paid at that time was $188 -a lot of money to someone only earning $1.25 an hour (minimum wage job) back then. But I still have most of the set and use them frequently. (The knives I am missing from that set -the trimmer, the chopper and all of the steak knives. My son managed to mangle the chopper by using it to trim the base of a Christmas tree one year and the trimmer and steak knives all gradually went missing in action -a fate probably due to my son's incessant use of anything sharp to dig in the yard. I wonder if I got one of those metal detectors and went through our yard if any of my knives would be found?)

They are pricey -to that I will agree. But they do have a great warranty too -I just couldn't bring myself to sending back that Chopper knife to the company, knowing full well it wasn't damaged my normal usage nor was it faulty -other than via my son's hands.

I know they cost a whole lot more than the $188 I paid for mine 45 years ago, but all things considered, they have been worth the price.

I love mine.  Have had them for over 12 years and they're all still as sharp as the day I bought them.  Great knives, well worth the price, IMO.

My favorite is the vegetable knife, although the small santoku (sp), that I recently bought from a young friend is nice, too.

DD has one of the large sets with the butcher block, she loves her knives. She has had them for years, and sent them in to be sharpened (they do it free of charge). The knives came back looking like brand new, they even polished the handles. I have a set of steak knives, and a few knives. I buy about one a year because of the price. The kitchen shears are unbeatable, I love them and use them all the time. Eventually I hope to have a complete set with a butcher block. I also have the set of Cutco kitchen utensils in a wood block. Cutco products are excellent if you can afford them.

That depends on how it gets broken.  If it breaks in normal usage or because of a defect, Cutco will replace it free of charge.  If you break it through misuse, such as using it as a lever and breaking the tip off of your wife's favorite knife, they will replace it for half price.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE cutco knives...  I have a set that I inherited from my Grandma, sent them in to be sharpened, and they are amazingly sharp.  I also have a set of Wusthoff knives that I would be willing to trade in for a set of cutco.  I really don't like them, neither does DH.  I would go w/ Cutco if I had to make a choice.

Re: Anyone own "CUTCO" knives ?

They are absolutely the best knives out there anywhere. We have the steak knives and have had them now for almost 9 years, just as sharp as the day we got them. The handles also are just like the first day. Well well worth the money. And if anything, at all ever happens to any of them all one does is send them back to the company, they will replace absolutely free and they also pay for shiping. My DD had to send one of her's back, as the tip of one broke. They sent her a brand new one, at no cost. No other place would do that. Cannot say enough good about Cutco.
