My latest thrift store find (picture)

Pretty sure it's Rockingham, 1800's.  The crazing, the kiln marks, and the yellow base clay all lead me to think it's not a reproduction.  I have my great-grandmother's bowl like this (but much larger), and the aging and overall appearance on this one matches mine.

Unfortunately, this one has a chip out of the top rim.  Otherwise, I'm seeing bowls like this online for anywhere from $50 up to $150 - $175.  I paid 50 cents.

I also found a piece of Imperial's "Candlewick" glassware from the 50's, a Couroc bowl from the 60's, a set of 4 Christmas dinner plates (never used - sticker on back), some cute Halloween plates that I'll use at my party next year, a piece of Corningware French White, some Corelle plates with the Shadow Iris pattern, a big mixing bowl from a stand mixer, two 8" pie pans, one 9" deep dish pie pan (giving the pie pans away), and an old Foley aluminum wide-mouthed canning funnel.  I paid no more than $1 for any one item in there, and most were 50 - 69 cents.

I usually don't have such luck but yesterday was a good day.  Yea!

Wow!  What a great find!  Don't you just love it when you see something you really love and it's affordable.  I found a spongeware bowl about the size of yours a couple of months ago. I love it and I use it all the time because of it's size.  Would'nt you love to know where your bowl has been?  I think about all the meals, who used it and when it was first purchased.  Stuff like that has a life of its own.  Thans for showing us!

Krissy, actually, most thrift store trips, you'd bang your head against the wall like I do.  The prices at Goodwill and at another store here are awful.  I've seen used things marked at nearly new/full retail price!  Plus they write the price on the items with Magic Marker.  Come on...how do you get that off something wooden or wicker or marble?!  You don't.

There's really only one good thrift store, the one I hit yesterday.  And the finds there depend on what the recent drop-offs have been, so it's hit or miss.

Roma, how neat that you found a bowl like this, too!
