This was posted from Rebecca Lee earlier this morning on yesterdays posts....just wanted to make sure Jeanne saw it!!!

    Jeanne,

Thanks so much for the info. I will be diligent. I just found out this am, that his birth mother is allergic to penicillin. The Dr. acted like she was really disappointed that he was allergic, but didn't explain all that it could mean. Just said, he can never have it again. I am so thankful you went into depth with it. I guess she didn't say much more, because I am usually pretty up on most of the medical stuff that they go through. But this....I had no idea it could be that bad.

    Thank you very much.

Had a nice time with the ladies last night - gave us a chance to catch up with what's happening with each other.  Our friend waiting for the transplants was along last night again.  It won't be anytime soon, yet.  I hope she can last through the wait.  Seems to be doing good.

Nothing planned for the weekend - just get caught up on stuff to get ready for the whirl wind week next week.

    Hi Rosies!

Warm and overcast here.  Not sure if we're to get more rain or not.  A busy Friday for me.  Will go over and babysit Hayden this afternoon while Mommy & Daddy go to the chiro.  DS#3 is leaving this morning for a debate tournament.  I went last night and bought him some slacks, a dress shirt, and a new tie to go with his sport coat.  He looks really nice now.  I think DH is working day shift today.  When I asked him earlier what time he was going in, he just answered with "When I get around to it".

My favorite side dish is probably the stuffing.  It gives me bad heartburn though.  My brother makes what I call kitchen-sink stuffing as he puts everything in it.  Can't do that here as most like it on the plain side.

Pat, send us some pics of Lily if you can.

Hugs to all.  Have a great Friday!~~~Laura

    Good morning everyone.

Kelly's Mission:  Let's go after the ceilings, light fixtures and window sills in the Dining Room and Entrance Way.  Use a feather duster or dust rag get the window sills, the light fixtures and dusties in the corners and the ceiling fan if you have one.  (Put something underneath the fan to catch the falling debris.)

Pat - Wouldn't it be nice if Lily's pictures gets published?

Jane - Yes, next week will be a very busy one for you.  Hope all goes well.  Sounds like a nice visit with long time friends and that's always good.

Amy - It would have to be the dressing and pumpkin pie.  I got a chuckle out of  "So, it's Friday and I'm nosy..."  Are you only nosy on Fridays?  hehehe

Dianae - Congrats on the grant.  That money will be a nice help.

Tango - Please don't leave us hanging.  What happend now that you are crazy?  Hope you got some sleep.

Picking up DH at work this afternoon and heading out to PA for a meeting.  Laundry is in and I'm heading for the shower.

    Have a wonderful day.

I love the stuffing too. But if it is cooked in the bird. Wish I could make good stuffing. I would eat that every day of the week if I could.

This is one thing andstuffing the other.

    King's Arm Tavern

    Recipe Introduction

I have made this for Thanksgiving for years and years.
It's a little "fussy" to make. This past year I tried something easier, of course it wasn't as good; but had to do.

    List of Ingredients

    3 eggs
    2 cups fresh corn kernel
    1/4 cup flour
    1 tbsp sugar
    1 tsp salt
    1/2 tsp white pepper
    2 tbsp melted butter
    2 cups light cream

    Recipe

Beat eggs well; combine with corn.
Mix flour sugar, salt pepper and add to corn mixture.
Stir in butter and cream and mix thoroughly.
Pour into a buttered 1 1/2 quart baking dish.
Place in a larger pan of hot water.
Bake at 325º for about an hour until firm and brown.
    Yield 8-10 servings.

My Note: Always takes me more then an hour.
It's difficult having enough oven space at Thanksgiving for this. I usually have to end up microwaving it at the very end. If I had the oven space I would ALWAYS make this. .................................

    WATER CHESTNUT STUFFING

    Source of Recipe

    Sunset cookbook 1964

    Recipe Introduction

This is my favorite non- traditional stuffing.

    List of Ingredients

    WATER CHESTNUT STUFFING

    1 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped green peppe1/2 cup sliced celery
    1 cup (1/2 lb) butter
    8 cups bread cubes, toasted
    2 cups, sliced water chestnuts
    1 tablespoon soy sauce
    1 tbsp. grated fresh ginger

    Recipe

Saute onion, green pepper and onion in butter until limp. Combine with bread cubes, water chestnuts, soy and ginger; toss lightly.
If mixture is very dry add a little hot water to moisten slightly.
    Makes 10 cups of stuffing.

I got this recipe from a Sunset cookbook in 1964, the year I left San Francisco for Saudi Arabia. I have been making it ever since. .................................

Maizey, God bless you for posting recipes!!!!!

Now when I was at the store today, a woman in the gift department was decorating a Christmas tree....The new fad I guess is an upside down tree! Yup, it comes that way. Have any of you seen this. She seemed a little embarrassed to have to be doing an upside down tree, but those where her orders. It comes that way. Actually I thought it was kind of cool. This way the ornaments stick out more. She said well, at least you can fit more presents underneath. I don't even do the Christmas tree thing, but I must say I thought it was very unique and wanted to know if any one else has seen this.

I've seen those upside down trees.  Not something for me, though.

My brother puts so much in his stuffing such as apples, pecans, raisins, water chestnuts, olives (yuck), sausage, and I think oysters, too.
