    Are you a list-maker or a muddler-througher?

I tend to be a muddler-througher who tries to become a list maker....I am getting slightly better, and when the need arises (visitors coming, important errands..'darling,. while you're in town can you just......, now you won;t forget will you? etc) Too often have I gone into a shop for one thing, got home with 2 bags full and never even remembered the one important item?

    I make lists for everything.

Then I muddle thru because I've forgotten the lists.

    Yes, I know I am a btch.
I have been a btch all my life. I am good at it.
It takes very little effort on my part, and I am used to it. Applying the same reasoning to you, I cannot understand your offense at being called stupid.

I am a list maker.  I have a running grocery list going at all times.  I think partly because for many years I owned a beauty salon so I had an appointment book, now I take cake orders and have to keep them straight, so partly my lifestyle has always been keeping things in order and not forgetting something.

I only make lists for really important things I may need at the grocery store or Christmas lists that I don't want to forget.  Moslty I muddle through!

I am a list-maker.   Especially if I have a big job to do--like recently when I was getting my flower beds/yard  ready for the winter.  Had to have a list and check each job off as I did it.    But still sometimes I muddle through too. ;)   Just recently I did NOT make a list of what I needed at the grocery because really all I needed was milk.   But when I got in there, they had so many things on sale that I would be needing that I got several things.   And when I walked in the back door at home, it hit me that I had forgotten the milk.  EEK!   Now we live out in the country so there was no quick trip back to the store, we just rationed milk until we went again. ;)

I am a muddler-througher, although I am going to become a list maker. Living 20 miles from town, and finding that "the mind is first to go", I can't afford to be forgetting things!

    Re: Are you a list-maker or a muddler-througher?

    I'm always making lists, I also make the honey -do lists for DH. I feel organized, accomplished and get more done then. I make lists for everything;

    grocery lists

    cleaning  "

    baking    "

    gift         "

    errand    "

    fixing     "

List of things I am going to serve when I have guests over.

I make a list of things I need to take along when I go on a trip and list of things we want to do on those trips and things I want to buy when I am at those destinations

I also make a list every weekend of all the phone calls I need to make on Monday because most places I need to call on weekends are closed. If I don't I am walking around aimlessly every day. lists make me feel like I have a more structured life.

These aren't all my lists, I have more but too many for here.

I am a list maker --- who always has a notebook of lists in my purse.

At work I am the same way, each day before Ieave work, I make a list for tomorrow, and then prioritize the list in order of importance.

I learned this while doing hurricane relief back in the early 90's.  It sure does help.

I'm GREAT at making lists.  I'm equally great at losing them, though....Sad

I keep a custom-made grocery list in Word.  I print it out each week, highlight what we need, and then go shopping.  The list used to be arranged the same way the store was, but then the store remodeled.  I've had strangers stop me in the store and say, "Wow -- look at all the things on your list!"  No....I only need what's highlighted, not the entire list!

I make lists for everything... even a list of my lists!  It can be maddening to some, but it's the only way that I can function.  Smile

Dog  I am a list maker...  I have a running list on my counter for the grocery store.  I even trained hubby that when he runs out of something to put it on the list.  I have a chore list.. ( things still don't get done) & I even have a list going of what we need to take on our trip although it isn't until the end of Feb.  If I forget my grocery list I have to turn around... go home & get it.  I can't fuction without it... can't even muddle.

Mostly I muddle through, but the list is in my head.  Like today, I need to bake a cake, finish a company order, do the laundry and straighten the house.  Those are on my list.  I Have to get the order done, but the rest will fall in amongst the swim lessons, lunch, dinner and everything else and we will see where my muddling gets me by this evening.
