*** Help!! Movie Ideas For 13 Year Old ***

Movie  I have a 13 year old Grandson..... what ideas can you give me on what movie to get him for Christmas.  I was thinking of the "Waterhorse" would this be a good one for him? or is too much for younger kids?  (I haven't seen this one)   He is into sports, plays football, soccer, baseball.  Also likes to deer hunt.  I am not too good with boy stuff.  Confused

any of the popular action movies that are PG-13 or better.  Most of the new movies are good, such as Transformers.  My 12 yr old DS and 13 yr old nephew loved it.

I loved The Waterhorse, just can't gauge if its more for younger kids.

I was a bit more liberal on what my kids could watch, so take these recommendations with a grain of salt

    Ironman

    Kung Fu Panda

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

    The Incredible Hulk

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

    Speed Racer

    The Dark Knight

    Superhero Movie

You Don't Mess with the Zohan

    Harry Potter movies

    Lord of the Rings

I would skip the Waterhorse, I think it may be too young for him ... my son will be 13 in February and he's recently become enthralled with the Star Wars stuff, so we're getting him some Star Wars DVDs.  Also, he enjoyed the Transformers and the Narnia movie that someone else mentioned.  We just got the Golden Compass and haven't watched that yet.  Have fun picking some out!

SuzieQ2, I told my DH he would have to let me die first, because I would have no idea what to get our sons and grandsons for Christmas. Of course, I don't think he'd do too well with the girls...

The Narnia movies are good. I guess sword play would be the sports angle.  An older classic movie that my kids, and now my grandkids love is The Sandlot.

P.S. And not the lame-o remake of The Sandlot, but the original.

13 year olds think they're grown-up AND when you give a movie, it should be something the person will enjoy for years to come.  I'd skip any of the 'kid' movies--most 13 year olds I know are way past those.  Why not pick a classic, grown-up movie or 2 that you've enjoyed to share with him.  Maybe you could even watch it together and discuss it. There are plenty of good movies that aren't violent or offensive.

If he likes sports--how about Invincible, or We Are Marshall--both very inspiring, rivetting stories about real people/teams.

Callie has a good point there. Oh, I loved We Are Marshall!

Also, I remember my boys loved classic comedies at that age, and still do (They're 27 and 22). They loved anything Danny Kaye~ The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Court Jester, Wonderman (hard to find, but so good). Also any Cary Grant comedy such as Arsenic and Old Lace. And Harvey with James Stewart was a great one.

We Are Marshall is an awesome choice ... also, if he likes a particular actor that he's seen, he may enjoy seeing him in another movie ... my son likes Will Smith (from Fresh Prince) but now loves to see him in dramatic movies as well ... Another movie my son loves is Castaway with Tom Hanks.
