I make mine a little differently.  There are one of the first appetizers to go.

I wrap the water chestnut with raw bacon then broil for approx. 5-6 minutes, drain the grease then broil again & drain one more time then add KC Masterpiece Original BBQ Sauce (this brand makes a big difference).  Then broil for another couple minutes.  The bacon and the sauce is nice and brown and crispy.

I also use a cookie cooling rack to put over the chestnuts when draining the grease.

I've made these with undiluted frozen orange juice concentrate and soy sauce. They always turn out great. This version sounds good, too.

The TOH recipe for Bacon wrapped water chestnuts was made for our progressive dinner. Loved by all and is always a request at various functions. Delish.
