ISO- Inexpensive (Cheap!) Christmas Gift Ideas

My dd has 4 teachers to buy for and I have 10 co-workers (also teachers) I need small gifts for.  Do you have any ideas that are inexpensive cheap?  Something other than candles or candy.  Also, I am not very artsy.

Thank you for the help!Big Smile

I think it was TreeHugging that made some Bookmarks.  If you picked some wall paper samples and some cardboard/craftboard, you could make some of those. Yes

    Hope this helps! Smile

I just made cinnamon ornaments and magnets with Avery magnet sheets and photos I took this summer.

What about cake in a mug?   go to a local thrift store and pick up mugs cheap ...the recipe is on here someplace I will look for you!

    Here is the recipe!!!

     5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
    >
    > 4 tablespoons cake flour ( that's plain flour, not self-raising)
    > 4 tablespoons sugar
    > 2 tablespoons baking cocoa
    > 1 egg
    > 3 tablespoons milk
    > 3 tablespoons oil
    > 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
    > a small splash of vanilla
    >
    > 1 coffee mug
    >
    > Put dry ingredients in mug mix well
    > Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
    > Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
    > Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla, and mix again.
    >
    > (you can also do all the above in a bowl and then pour it in your mug)
    >
    > Microwave for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake
    > will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
    >
    > Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.

I just posted something about custom Pringles can labels..you can go to their site & create your own label for homemade cookies, candy, soup mixes - whatever clever idea you can come up with...they'll make a donation to Children's Miracle Network for saved labels, up to $20,000.

Here's some ideas on this thread. I'd go with a gift certificate to book store/ office supply store or coffee place. JMO. Even if it's only for $5.00 each, I think most teachers appreciate any help they can get.

A cute, low-cost idea might be fudge in a spoon.  Get 14 metal spoons (go to Goodwill or resale shop)...make a batch of fudge...drop a dollop of fudge into each spoon, top w/a candied cherry or nut half...overwrap in cellophane & tie up with a ribbon & maybe a cute decoration/little pine cone, artificial holly or piece of pine branch...your co-workers might appreciate a teaspoon to stir their coffee, tea or hot chocolate at work...maybe use a soup spoon to eat lunch at work?  You get a little piece of fudge & something useful to keep.

How about really pretty Christmas Tree Ornaments? I've taken these to various pre-Christmas gatherings as a Hostess Gift, and they were really well received.

This would also be a good idea for the children in my preschool class to make for their parents.

How do you combine the ornaments with the pictures?  Are they like a picture frame?

    Thanks for the help,

    akf,

I gotta try this for myself!  Sounds really cool.  And if they're still the same price as last year, Wal-Mart has Christmas mugs for 50 cents.

    Lynn,

The fudge idea is really neat. I could combine it with akf's mugs!

That is a good idea.  Our schools also belong to the Scholastic bookclub.  I'm sure a giftcertificate from them would be appreciated.
