    dairy allergy

Because my grandson is allergic to dairy, I substitute soy butter for butter or margarine, but the results are not the same.  Is there some sort of substitution ratio I can use?

What are using the soy butter in?  Baking, cooking, sandwiches or what?

You can also go and type in the search box up on top: Dairy free recipes and get some results.

I use the butter in baking, particularly cookies.

Thanks for the response.  I'm new here and didn't really expect anyone to respond.  I've tried other forums and have gotten no response.  Thanks.

My daughter is vegan and she said to use canola oil, and that you may need to add more flour, but that is what she usually does.

How about hummus for your veggie dip?  Mash garbanzo beans, drizzle in a little olive oil, some lemon juice & tahini (sp?)...& garlic, roasted peppers, sun dried tomatoes for added flavor.  I don't think any of the ingredients have dairy in them?  Guess I'm not actually postive about the tahini, which you can get in most supermarkets or in specialty fruit markets.

Earth Balance is a great substitute for butter. It is the "butter" most vegan recipes call for and it tastes very close to butter. This is the product I use all the time and get the same results as butter. Some grocery stores sell it and most health food stores. Whole foods sells it and Trader Joe's might also.
