Thanks guys! It's nice to have somewhere to turn!  All of my go to friends here are either pregnant or just had a baby so I don't really feel like I can go to them! LOL!

H U G E storm heading our way. We are kind of right on the line of either a winter storm warning or an ice storm warning. It's like what would you rather have your leg or your arm cut off? LOL! They are talking 1/2 inch of ice and like 5 inches of snow on top of that. Yuck!!! It's not supposed to start until 6 which should give me time to get home from work.

Good Morning - we are expecting another ice storm today - fun, fun, fun.  I lost two post attempts yesterday so I gave up - will try this again today.  Had to drop off our cat at the vet this morning - he's having his teeth cleaned.  Dropped him off at 7 and I've already called once to check on him - lol - he's my baby.

    ((Jolene))

Dawn - I would take it as quite a compliment that the vet called on you - very impressive.  Glad the furbaby found a good home.  Whoop Whoop on the refund.  I was remembering your comment about rude people while I was in Wal-Mart yesterday - sigh - people never cease to amaze me.  Oh well, tis the season - lol.

Dusta - Have safe travels today.

((Jen)) - Sending you a ton of good vibes and hugs.  Hope you get home before the storm hits.  Stay safe.

Muril - Hope your program goes off without a hitch.  The tuxedo cheesecake sounds heavenly - yummy.

Ginny - Glad to hear the report from the doctor - sounds good.  CM's a keeper and I love it that NAP has his boxers in a bunch - lol - serves him right.

Beth - Your picture is beautiful.

I know I'm forgetting someone - waving to all.

     Morning!

well - we ended up with sandwiches last night instead of pizza. DH changed hism ind (surprise!) and I'll post the recipe in a few minutes. Excellent sandwiches - chicken, mushrooms & onion mixed with some good seasonings & sauce.

Michele - I call too LOL!!!!!   with all the animals we've had over hte years, and almost all have had issues at some point, I know the vet number by heart. Scary & sad Hmm  Do they put the cats under sedation for that? I would think so - that would not be a fun job if Kitty was awake LOL!!!

Dusta - it's foggy here too. There was a really bad wreck on my way into work this morning because of it. We are out in a rural part of the county & there are some open fields along the roads, lots of fog. Not sure how it happened but 4 cars were involved. It was really hard to see anything this morning.

    Hi Muril~!

Jen - stay safe & warm! And dry :-)

Hope everyone has a great day!!

not sure what happened on the other post, but there was a bunch of jumbled letters & symbols. Ugh.  We'll try again.

    Marlboro Man Sandwiches

(my changes are at the end)

     2-3 lb. Cube Steak

    1 large Onion, sliced

    1 lb. Fresh Mushrooms, sliced

    4 tbsp. butter

    2 tbsp. olive oil

    lawry's season salt

    black pepper

    1 tbsp. worchestershire sauce

    1/4 c. A-1 sauce

Franks Hot Sauce, a few dashes

    4 deli/sub rolls

In a nonstick skillet, heat 2 tbsp. butter and 1 tbsp oil over medium/high heat. Add onion & cook until soft & browned, about 8 minutes. Remove to a bowl w/ a slotted spoon & keep warm. To the sme skillet, add mushrooms (add a bit mroe butter and oil if needed). Cook for 5 minutes or until mushrooms are soft & browned. Remove with a slotted spoon, add to the bowl with the onions.

sprinkle steaks with salt & pepper. Cut into strips. Add remaining butter and oil to the skillet. Cook beef, in a single layer, over medium/high heat (do in batches if necessary).  When meat is done, add worchestershire sauce, A-1, hot sauce, onions and mushrooms. Heat throught.

Split buns lengthwise, butter and toast/grill. Divide meat among buns and drizzle with pan juices to serve.

    *****

    my changes:

    1. I didn't have any steak so I used 3 boneless skinless chicken breasts. I cut them into strips & cooked as directed above. Then I shredded the meat, added it back to the pan with everything else.

    2. I used ciabatta rolls

Dawn - Those sandwiches look GOOD - I may even get my picky DH to try those.  Thanks for the recipe!!  Yes, they put him under - he's 15 so anything like this makes me a nervous wreck - I can't concentrate and I've already messed up two quotes that I have to go back and fix **sigh**

Michele - hope dh likes them. We really did, a definite keeper for us.   I'd be nervous too, he's at an age where everything makes you worry 100x more!   ((((((furbaby & michele))))))

Re: H L Topic of Week 12/15-11/21: Keeping Up with Exercise During the Holidays

morning everyone!  We got snow, we're getting more snow.......ugh!  Some folks still are without electricity.  You can tell who doesn't....bad hair and bad attitude.  Can't blame them!

I got my house hubby back.  The snow and projected storms closed down jobs, but he will be going back before too long.  Meanwhile, laundry done, errands done, house warm, all courtesy of my house hubby.  Who could ask for more!

(((Jen))), this time of year is difficult anyway, and you've carried a big load of trouble and worry all year.  Please make sure you take some extra time to be nice to yourself this winter.  We loved BL finale, too!  DH was a-jumpin' as if the Patriots had won the superbowl!  Vicky was NOT our favorite.  Didn't Michelle look AWESOME??  The father and son from Boston were a disappointment, they didn't do as well as all of the others.  Still, some weight loss is better than none.  Just so you know, Jolene and I do not talk like those two guys!  Yikes, that's a South Boston (think Matt Damon) accent!  There's a new season in January.

Dawn, LOL on the therapist.  I had a therapist once who was on the edge of her seat with my stories.  Made me wonder just how cuckoo I really am!!!

Muril, you are so organized.   We'll have to call you Muril Stewart!  ha ha

Michele, hugs to your furbaby.  DH and I are still sad about our Malcolm, and he's been gone over a month.  In other news, I actually  sat on my cat by accident last night.  He was not impressed, but he seems to have recovered.  That was a scene, let me tell ya!  I have a big scratch on my butt.

Went to Cabela's shopping with Ol' Prince last night.  I ended up not finding what I wanted, (Woolrich bathrobe for DH)  so I ordered it, and hopefully it will arrive by Xmas.  If not, DH will be getting the receipt in a Christmas box!.  We checked out the sleeping bags and self-inflatable sleeping mats for DH's big four-day hiking extravaganza he's planning for July.  Between gear, the cost to stay at the AMC huts, and gas between trailheads, we could have less expensively booked another trip to Florida.  (not really, but it does add up!)

Beth, that's a great photo, and a nice interpretation by the photographer.  If you keep in shape throughout you life, aging will be much easier for you!   I have to admit, I bet a photo of me, redfaced, trying to tie my shoes might not be quite so artistically inspiring.  (*snickering at myself*) Staying flexible like that is important for balance and stability.  The other day, as I was getting up off the chair, my big toe got caught in the leg of my jammy bottoms, and I fell right on my face.   DH almost peed his pants, and luckily, the hiking and moving around I do helped keep my injuries limited to the bruised ego variety.  Still, it was a graceful and interpretive crash to the floor.  A lot of other 50-year olds might have broken a hip or something!  ha ha!

Ginny, any quilts in the works?  (doesn't sound like you have time, you social butterfly!).  CM sounds like a keeper.  Ahhhh... sweet revenge.  We're all giving you a cyber high-five!

Hi, Dusta.   I did WW about thirty years ago in my very early twenties, and nothing was ever said about going below my goal.  I went 6 lbs. under.  (I am now nearly 50 lbs. over).  How the heck did that happen?  I was too skinny, though, and even DH says that I look healthier (and sexier) now.  The sexier part is because I now have boobs.  Hooray for fat!!

I'm struggling with the holiday parties.  Too many goodies, and I sit all day at the office.  I go to the gym 3x week, but it is only enough to maintain, although the crunches are helping my abs feel less jiggly!! heh heh.

Apparently, my staff thinks I am stressed and overworked this year.  At our staff party yesterday, they presented me with 15 (yes, 15) bottles of booze.  Either that, or they think I'm a drunk!  I've got coconut rum, flavored vodkas, pre-mixed girly drinks, and champagne!  It's fun to be me! Lil' Prince is like, "how come they only got you alchohol, mom? Where's the chocolate?"

Time for my lunch...turkey wrap.  After work, it's the post office, Walmart, then the gym.  Supper probably not till later, but that's ok.  Looks like a wash this weekend with all the snow, and I'll have plenty of time to sit at home!  DH promised to get our tree today, before the trees were covered with a foot of snow!

Hope you all have a great day.  Hi to Jolene if you're out there!  PammieJ.

Re: H L Topic of Week 12/15-11/21: Keeping Up with Exercise During the Holidays

Good Morning! It is so cold in the office today that we are all sitting here w/ our coats on and I have gloves - with fingers!!!

Jen - I posted HUGS for you yesterday but it didn't show up! I am thinking of you!!!

Pammie - Take the coconut rum and marinate chunks of pineapple and some maraschino cherries, then put them on toothpicks and into the freezer and you'll have Pina Coladas on a stick! Somebody brought them to a party we went to and I ate a TON of them!!! I had to - somebody drank 1/2 my bottle of Muscato Spumante and there was only red wine left. I am not working on any quilts right now - I will be after the holidays - CM's Bday is Feb 15th and I have some outdoorsy, hunting fabric that I'm going to use and then I'll back it w/ flannel. Pretty sure it will just be big patchwork squares so I can get it done in a timely fashion.  Did you make it to the lingerie section of Cabelas? In the christmas catalog they have a camisole and boxer set in camo. They are silk so kinda pricey - $30 bucks each - so I might wait and get them (if they go on sale) for CM's Bday **wink wink**!

Have to get back to work.   Also - I am LATE getting out my Christmas cards - they may end up being New Years cards - but they ARE coming - I just need to find them again!!!

    Hello everyone!

Having a hard time keeping up with everyone! Been busy with the holidays....went caroling last night to a nursing home with our church group and then to someones house that has leukemia (sp?). He is only a few years older than I am and he was friends with my brother when they were in school together. Its sad to see someone so young be sick with this. :( His wife cried when we came.

Tonight is a school program and then tomorrow I am going to try to get my cookies either made and baked or at least get all the batter made and keep in the fridge. Then on Saturday will be Christmas at dh's mammaw and pappaw's. sunday is the Christmas program at church. Monday will be cleaning and Tuesday will be baking the turkeys. Christmas Eve will be Christmas with my grandma and that side of the family. Christmas Eve night will be opening gifts with my parents. Christmas Day will be at my house with 14 people (why did I do this????? LOL) then I will have two days and then on Saturday will be christmas with dh's parents and siblings. Whewwww! I am worn out already! LOL

I need to go back and read all the post....

    Waving to everyone!

Well - the vet just called - he had to remove two teeth - one upper and one lower and we have to do antibiotics for 2 weeks - ugh - but Bobby did fine - YAY!!  That's a load off - we get to pick him up after 6 tonight.  I managed to only call twice to check on him so I think that's pretty good - lol.

Pammie - Your posts always make me smile - hope the weather clears up - glad you are staying warm and with the gifts you got, even if you have no heat, the liquor would do the trick - lol.

Ginny - The flannel back quilt for CM sounds great!!

Jet - You are a busy girl - stay safe in this mess of weather we are expecting.  How neat that you were able to visit the friend who has leukemia - I'm sure you made their night.  Hope you get all your baking done - I'm sure you will.

    Waving to all,

    Michele

    Good Afternoon!

We got some stocking stuffers and more gifts and I found a couple more things for Miss Nancy. I try to be practical with her but get stuff she likes.

Have a safe trip Dusta and give let us know you are back safe and sound. :) Better bundle up Lulu for the trip. Does she wear sweaters? :)

Michele, your C'mas card is so cute- looks positively edible with the sugar cookie. :) Thanks for the recipe too- looks yummy. Thanks for the kind thoughts- I will be kind of glad when we finish our C'mas program- a lot of hard work but when it comes down to it, it's nice to just get 'er done and get ready for C'mas! :) Glad your fubaby is doing well. LOL on calling twice. :)

Dawn, we have some fog today too. DH and I had lunch today at Zero's while out shopping and I got 1/2 cosmo deluxe(veggies) on whole wheat so think I did pretty good. I also had a few of DH's baked fries- nice that they give you a choice of fried or baked. :) That sandwich recipe looks like a winner to me! Yum!

Jen, hope you get home before the ice/snow starts. Rememeber to pamper yourself and relax...try not to think of everything that has to be done and just take care of Jen this evening! :)

Jet, Yes! What were you thinking with 14 people? LOL I am sure you can handle it. I am getting tired reading what you have planned. :) Sorry to hear about your brother's friend. :( That is sad. And Christmas time makes it even sader for some reason.

Pam, LOL on the comparison with Martha! I will count that as a wondeful complement since I love her! But, I feel like I am very unorganized. I procrastinate way too much on most things. My house needs a good cleaning for one thing....to bad- there are more important things to think about! LOL

Ginny, lol, New Years cards will be just fine if you can't find them in time! :) LOL on the cami and boxers. Sounds cute. I used to find some nice lingerie at VS and lately all they have is teeny bopper stuff or they are sold out of the good stuff. :( Don't know what is up. Seems like most things are cotton and has pics on it. :(

Off to do some laundry.  Waving to Everyone!

Re: H L Topic of Week 12/15-11/21: Keeping Up with Exercise During the Holidays

It rained all morning and I am still here in LA. I have the car packed except for what I need tonight and in the morning. I plan on leaving as early as I can. I ususally leave around 1, but going to try to get out of here by 9, we will see.

Pam the 2 pounds below was in the new material that came out last week.

Muril, Lulu has lots of hair and if I put a sweater on her she would have a heat stroke. I sleep in a cold room and she sleeps on top of the cover. My pug got under the cover.

Okay Jet I am tired just reading what you have to do. I have to go home and clean the dust, just think how much is there.  I am going to make my DGM's applesauce cake as soon as I can so it can sit for a couple of days.

My DIL talked to someone several years ago about her childhood and she said the woman's mouth feel open at some of the things she told her. You wouldn't believe her parents. I am so glad she hasn't let this go on to my grands. She knows it wasn't normal.

Jen how is it going? Hope you are better. ((  ))
