    • Thanks so much for all the support yesterday.  It would have not upset me half as much if the email had been sent straight to me for I have heard it word for word before both in email and on the board, but it was directed to a friend.  That makes me mad.  You can say what you want to me because I know where the delete key is and believe me I know how to use it.  But say it directly to me and not thro a go-between.

    • Thought for the day-"Friendship needs no words..." - Dag Hammarskjold.

    • Today is Bubble Bath Day. Today is a fun day to relax an enjoy the warm and soothing pleasures of a bubble bath.  Best of all, it can be enjoyed by kids and adults. For kids, it's playtime. For adults, it's soothing pleasure.

    • On Bubble Bath Day, there are a couple of ways to enjoy your bubble bath. It depends upon how old you are.

    • For kids, it's simple.... Just fill the tub with bubbles and toys. Then hop in and play!

    • For the ladies, its time to relax! Fill the tub with bubbly water. Hop in and just enjoy the soothing water and bubbles. Before hoping in, set the mood with candles placed (safely) around the bathroom and tub. Add a radio playing softly on the sink counter.

    • Oh, and don't forget your rubber duckie!

    • Special hugs and prayers for Anne, Sherry, Betty, Merle, Gat and Jeanette, Mabel, Grace, Roberta, Sally and Colleen, and Beth’s family.

    •
      Waves and hugs to all!!

    • Florida State and Oklahoma are going at it and it is really an excellent game.  Brenda-I am sure you are watching it!!

    • JP-We are glad you can join us too when you can!!

    • Sandy-I hope you are getting along better with Agnes!!  Mine has several names too but none of them I can say here!! LOL at the devil comment.

    • Mabel-How can you have a boring life with KO-KO the paper shredding bird??  Does she hire out?? She sounds much more interesting than my paper shredder!!

    • Rosie-Hope you and Scott handled the move and he is satisfied with his new living arrangement!!

    • Beverly-I enjoy your description of your morning adventure with your DGS.  As much as I enjoyed the Christmas picture of him waiting for the bus.  As for outing our “friend” I prefer not to.  That is just me!!  She is on her way to a friendly board not on TOH.  I wish her God-speed and hope she finds the more accepting board.

    • Ruth-Hope you are feeling better this morning. Thanks for the reminder of “The King’s” birthday!!

    • NancyB-That is one reason I usually sign my name as well as use a sig.

    • Cilla-Happy Belated Birthday to Eddie.  Give him a hug for me!!  That is great your brother is coming for a few days while you are gone!!

    • Tippy-I usually check in once or twice a day to check to see if things are going OK or if anyone needs a hug but otherwise I wait till now to respond.

    • Kathy-LOL good to see you! But sorry you chose this day to check in.  Thanks for the kind words.

    • Brenda-Welcome to the ups and downs of this board.  Beverly summed it up very nicely.

    • Jeane-Gremlin is doing fine since his treatment.  You can not hold him down!!

    • Cats-Congratulations on the weight loss!!

    • Sue-Hope your computer is doing better now!!

    • Margaret-Prayers for Michelle and her family and Brittani!!

    • Love all of you!!

Before I crash into bed, I thought I'd wish you all a wonderful day! I generally sleep as late as I need to in the morning...catch up on some much needed rest.

It's -11*F here right now...mighty chilly, but warmer than it has been, so we can be thankful.

Okay...another few logs on the fire and I'm off to bed.  Toodly-dooooo.

I asked for, and got, Elvis' Xmas songs - which I am still playing in my car as I don't feel bound by any season!  He did have a bee-you -ti-ful voice.   Now I'd like the hymns one.  I could play it on Sundays!

Am going out to bfast with friends.   I rarely eat b'fast so am sure I won't eat the potatoes that come with the special!

I had a tragedy yesterday.  My clock fell off the wall and now won't run altho I banged it on the floor, swore at it, and put new batteries in it.  Now I have to get another and hope to find the same schoolroom clock that I bo't at Walmart about 15 yrs. ago.

    Good Morning Everyone,

Thanks for opening for us, Zora.

There have been many times when I've been tempted to open the door and say "That's the way to Florida, KoKo, get flying!"   Unfortunately I keep her wings clipped to she wouldn't get very far!

JP, brrrrr, it's cold  here also, but we haven't gotten down to below 0° temperatures yet.   Something to look forward to...NOT!

Nancy B.  Wishing you luck in your search for a clock, I find whenever I try to replace something I really like, they no longer make it.    I notice it's getting harder and harder to find a regular push button phone that doesn't have to be plugged into the electrical outlet.    If your electricity is out, so is your phone.   Many people found that out in our last ice storm, those without cell phones were really isolated.

Margaret, what a plus  that your ds is hard of hearing! LOL

I going up to the Senior Center to play cards later, some more snow is suppose to arrive tonight, I'm so thrilled...can't you tell!

Wishing you all a great day,

    Mabel

    • Running through to wish all a happy day!  The car is loaded with groceries, clothes and bedding ready to leave in a couple of hours.
    • Zora, love the quote for the day, but the day it self all but made me bust into tears....oh would a bubble bath feel good right now....instead I'll take a 360 shower (step into shower, do a full revolution, setp out) and hope for a spoil me day tomorrow.
    • Hugs and prayers to each of you, because you are loved!

Thirty minutes. Then out the door I go. Trusty flash lights pale beam lighting the path before me. Mare and goats walking with me as my path is near the fence. Stepping over clumps of weeds that no freeze seems able to kill. Around the mound of old, rolled up wire fencing. Past the end of the trailer and into the soft, yellow glow coming from the bug light on the front porch. Up the wooden steps, leaving the little fold up stool I'm carrying propped against the porch rail. I will enter the door into warmth and a lot of hustle n' bustle as the kids are in the final preparations of getting ready for the school bus's arrival. Of course I "eat up" the squeals of "Gigi's here"!

Nancy B-- After all ya' did & that "ungrateful" clock still would not work? Serves it right if ya' replace it with a newer, updated model. (grinning)

Mabel -- I, too, keep wings clipped. Especially Paco's. But that does not stop him from sailing across a room to "attack"!!

How To Take a Bubble Bath

Zora has already listed what is needed for a successful bubble bath.

    Step One: Unplug the phone.
Step Two: Lock the door to prevent intruders like kids and spouses.
Step Three: Stop the drain in the tub.
Step Four: Light aromatherapy candles. Choose lavender to relieve stress and sandalwood to relax.
Step Five: Turn on the water and adjust the temperature to your liking.
Step Six: Pour a small amount of bubble bath ' or the amount recommended on the bottle label - into the running water.
Step Seven: Allow the bathtub to fill with water and suds. If you are not satisfied with the amount of suds in the water, add more bubble bath into the running water.
Step Eight: Turn off the water when the tub has filled. Replenish hot water as needed.
Step Nine: Slowly enter the bath water, feet first.
Step Ten: Breathe deeply and relax.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Try putting on a little background music to help you relax ' but don't keep electronic devices close enough to the tub that they might fall in.
    • Don't forget your rubber ducky or other bath toys.
    • If you are pregnant or have dry skin, opt for warm water as opposed to hot.
    • Keep in mind that ingredients in some bubble baths can be drying to the skin ' choose a product with moisturizers such as aloe or vitamin E.

    Good morning EVERYONE!

ZORA ~ I'm glad to hear that GREMLIN is a ball of fire(lots of energy!). You must post more pictures so we can see more of what he(?) looks like.

JP ~ Wow, but it's still cold even with the warm-up you got(smile). Keep piling those logs on the fire and have a good sleep.

MARGARET ~ Had to laugh at your description of your visit with DDIL. I am deaf and  have been told by co-workers many times that I didn't know how lucky I was not to have to listen to some  of the people ramble on and on and ON all day . I can simply turn away and not have to listen to it Wink.

NAN B ~ I can still remember Elvis' beautiful voice and often him his songs during my day. He was truly gifted and I don't box myself into seasons either, whatever appeals for the day.

MABEL ~ Enjoy the card and fellowship with your Seniors group.

ROSIE ~ Hope your day goes fast and smooth and before you know it you will be back on your own comfy couch with a nice hot cup of tea(or whatever makes your day!).

Not too much planned for today. I have a dentist appt. this morning and then will come home and figure out what the meal will be today. Also will watch Trey and Brooke(DGS and DGD ages 6 and 3) for a few hours from the time DS leaves till DDIL gets home from work. Went out for supper last evening to Hoss'(steak/seafood restaurant for those who aen't familiar) with some family members. Had a good meal and better yet, good company.

Waving to all who I may have missed while posting and all others who stop by today.Hope all not feeling so well soon feel better. Also hope all hav a good day.

Hugs and prayers for all who need them.

    Jeane

BEVERLY ~ Managed to miss your name when going down my list(the only way I can possibly remember anything!). I enjoy the pictures you post. Have to show that pink iguana to Trey today as he loves lizards and has a Bearded Dragon, although he is NOT at all sociable like they are said to be.

    Good Moning all,

Hugs and prayers going our for all and their familles...

Ijust need a little one to help me through the day. Sigh.

Winter time is getting me down and its only January.

J.P. And Margaret E. Are you both talking of fahrenheit temp? Yikes. Get out the heater

.Minus temps? I’ll quit complaining of mine now...

Aha bubble bath!! . Occasionaly I take a bath. Now that doesn’t sound right.... I mean instead of a shower. Hate showers... But with my artificial knee its hard to navigate a tub. I do it most unlady like, though when I feel the need to relax....

I hear you talking about trying to find a old fashioned kind of phone.... . We don’t have a cell. Don’t need but one phone. Very rarely go any distance.

Now that our phone comes through cable we do have it a little better .The main box is hooked up to electricity but it has a battery built in that will carry it through for awhile ...Long enough to call electric co and yell for help. LOL.

I have a two pack c.d. of Elvis,. I got it at a garage sale. The album is called Amazing Grace. Has a lot of hymns on it. Now I like it but never was a great fan of Elvis. .

Ducking, please don’t throw at me. He was a good singer and no one to come close to him but I didn’t go gaga over him like my neighbor did.

I just got an e-mail last night frm my Sis. Her grandson is in Costa Rica with a group of photograpohy students. and she heard on yahoo news that there was an earthquake there .Yikes. ..

I haven’t listed to any news much lately. Its so depressing anyway.

. You all made me think of music so I have songs from the 50’s on playing. .

Stay well all. Chat more later Sandy

Good dark morning everybody. Can’t see what the day will be yet. My plans today are to do a little sewing. I have had the4 fabric for a quilted table runner for a couple of years. Sure would like to work on it but am mostly just too lazy.

Margaret L-My goodness it sounds like your family has had its problems. Hope this year is better. Do you have goodies when you play cards?

Mabel-Love the stories of your birds. My favorite is when Ko Ko (I think it was her) that ate the paneling off the wall. Sounds like something my dogs would do.

    Rosie- Big
Hugs to you today. Hope you have the makings for a giant margarita tonight.

Red-What kind of a bird is Paco. Do I remember right that you have two or three different kinds. Sounds like you have a menagerie at your place.

DH just got up so I better get off this thing and go visit with him for a few before he leaves for work.

See ya later and hugs to all.

    Re: 01/09/09 CS's Chat

Helloooooooooo Ladies,  Hope all had a good night filled with sweet dreams and plenty of rest. I see the sun shinning outside but is cold.  Didn't take Chipper long at all to leave his mark. I have a small electric heater that is "his".  When it is cold he comes back in (in a hurry) and will sit in front of it shivering and waiting for me to turn it on.  Then he lays down in front and enjoys. The life of a spoiled people-dog.  Sometimes I wish I had it as good.

Zora - You were right I watched the game. You're beginning to know me pretty well.  The only reason I pulled for Fla. is because Charlie Strong, defensive coach, use to be at South Carolina.  I wish he would come back.  Of course Tebow is pretty good. Chipper wanted me to ask how Gremlin was doing? Tell him, Shorty, and Emily he said hello.

JP - With temps like that you need to throw the whole tree on the fire. Snuggle up and sleep tight.

Margaret - Take care and stay warm. Doctor yourself up and maybe you can miss the cold.  You certainly don't need one now. I don't know if I have told you or not but when they build a bridge across the big pond I'm coming for a visit. Ha Ha

Nancy B. - I gather from your posts you are an Elvis fan. Me to. No one will ever sing like he did.  They may top him in record sales but not sound. As I said to someone yesterday, he still gives this old lady goosebumps.

Mabel - Just box Ko Ko up and send him this way.  I will send him on to Fla. the next day. Chipper will enjoy the company. Enjoy your card game with the "youngsters".  Stay warm and safe.

Rosie - Good luck and be careful moving. I'm sure Scott is excited. Wish I could help you out.

Beverly - Oh what lucky grandkids you have.  We all spoil them more than we should. But I enjoyed every minute when mine were young. Love the bubble bath instructions.  I may have to get some at Wally World when I go today. It sounds like a good idea.

Jeane - Owieeeeeee, the sound of the nasty word "dentist" makes me shiver. Send me to any other medical profession. A dentist is one of the necessary evils of life. Enjoy the Grands. Supper sounded like fun, never heard of Hoss'.

Sandy - I think winter gets us all down. I like the sunshine and warm days and cool nights. That is when I love being on the lake with the motorhome. Sometimes we will stay a couple of months at a time and have stayed longer. We have also camped in very cold weather with snow on the ground. Hope the earthquake was no where near where your Sis's DGS is. Let us know. Enjoy your day and your music.  I like the older stuff also.

Time for a shower and then off for Hubby's shot and  buy some groceries. I could slide on the groceries, but this time of year I like to know I have what I need.  Never know what the weather will be any more. I like haveing plenty of soup making stuff.  May have some salmon stew for supper. It is colder here so it will be good.

Hugs to all.   Have a safe day and stay warm.      Brenda

    Re: 01/09/09 CS's Chat

I saw this on the unanswered posts and thought it had a good meaning we could all take to heart.

    The Mouse Trap

A mouse looked through a crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife opening a package; what food might it contain? He was aghast to discover that it was a mouse trap!

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning, "There is a mouse trap in the house, there is a mouse trap in the house."

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell you this is a grave concern to you, but it is of no consequence to me; I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mouse trap in the house."

"I am so very sorry Mr. Mouse," sympathized the pig, "but there is nothing I can do about it but pray; be assured that you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow, who replied, "Like wow, Mr. Mouse, a mouse trap; am I in grave danger, Duh?"

So the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected to face the farmer's mouse trap alone.

That very night a sound was heard throughout the house, like the sound of a mouse trap catching its prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught.

In the darkness, she did not see that it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital. She returned home with a fever. Now everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's main ingredient.

His wife's sickness continued so that friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well, in fact, she died, and so many people came for her funeral the farmer had the cow slaughtered to provide meat for all of them to eat.

So the next time you hear that someone is facing a problem and think that it does not concern you, remember that when the least of us is threatened, we are all at risk.
