    I just wanted to know if I can get your recipe for those buttermilk donuts...you left us all hanging with no recipe for those yummy gems you were talking about yesterday...can I impose on you to post it????

    He posted that it was a mistake, there is no buttermilk in those and he posted the recipe just down here under grandma fried cakes

    Sorry, in my earlier post I called these Buttermilk fried cakes....they are not....they are made with whole (or 2%) milk, or as Grandma called it, "Sweet Milk".

    Fried Cakes

    Grandma




    2 eggs
    1 c. sugar
    1/3 c. melted shortening, cooled
    1 c. milk                                                                                                                               1 tsp. vanilla
    4 c. sifted flour
    4 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. nutmeg

    Combine beaten eggs, sugar and melted shortening. Add milk and vanilla. Mix flour with baking powder, salt and nutmeg. Combine the liquid and dry ingredients, STIRRING ONLY UNTIL WELL COMBINED. Chill 2 to 3 hours. Roll dough to 1/2 inch thickness on a floured board. Dough should be soft. Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Fry a few at a time. Drain on paper towels. While they are still slightly warm roll in cinnamon sugar.

    Yield: 24 fried cakes
