Wanted: Recipes For My Cookbook!!

I have been working on writing a cookbook for almost a year now. I met a man who publishes his own magazine. He now sells subscriptions to it. He is helping me self-publish my own cookbook. I am using his publisher, editor and graphics editor! The cookbook is a collection of southern recipes that includes family recipes passed down and some that I have created along the way. I decided a few days ago to ask my friends to each include a recipe they love. Well, there are some recipes that I don't have that are MINE I can claim legally. I was hoping to create them in time. This would put me at probably another year of working on this! So, I had another brainstorm today. I was hoping to get recipes from my TOH friends to include with their permission of course. So....if anyone has some recipes of theirs that they would like to share and would give me permission to publish (with your name under the recipe as the contributor of course) I would love it!!! I can help you with several my dear...I put together a cookbook of my own in 2005,and your certainly welcome to my recipes.My mother makes WONDERFUL  cherry and apple pies!And I'm known for my chocolate chip cookies.I will send them probably later today,ok?

Beckie, You are so sweet! I am so grateful and excited that you are sharing some with me. I am lacking some that every good cookbook should have...esp apple and cherry pie and chocolate chip cookies! i just received your recipes! Thank you so much! I kind of figured maybe people wouldn't be so trusting that I wouldn't steal their recipes or that maybe they wanted to publish their recipes themselves. Both of which I completely understand!! Believe me. You just don't know about people. I promise you will see your name under each recipe. That said, what is your last name so I can put it in there? I have been wanting a great chocolate chip cookie recipe to try so I can't wait! And...I had apple pie and homemade vanilla ice-cream on the 4th of July menu so I will be trying your apple pie recipe and taking a picture for the cookbook. Thanks again....so very much!

Oh,no problem...it warms my heart to see you so happy!One thing that I can tell you about using recipes(one cookbook author to a future one)recipes are not copyrights,so you cannot be sued by using let's say your neighbors' apple pie recipe.You can get sued however,if they have a patent on it.For instance,if you used Red Lobster biscuits and called them that and didn't give them credit or get their permission,you can be sued.Also,if you tweak the recipe just a little bit,it's no longer their recipe,but your  recipe.Also,don't use a lot from one publication.Then you may be infringing on a copyright.

I wrote mine through Morris Press Cookbooks,and three separate people told me the same thing.Plus,I've heard it through other sources.They were wonderful to work with.
