Good Morning YF & All to follow I don't like the hot weather too much as I have a bit of a problem breathing, but then we complain about the cold too.

I have been playing phone tag with the insurance company the last 2 days. While renewing our auto insurance our agent said that we had an accident on the report. This of  course is not true but because of the privacy laws it took me two days to figure out what is going on. My DH  name got attacted somehow to a policy of a women in Toronto. She had an at fault accident last year my DH appears as a second driver on her policy. Don't know this women never heared of her. So people have your agents check your record with that company that they all check with just to make sure everything is on the up & up.

YF hope they have AC where you work,

Pat hopping you get rain soon.

Cathy it's getting close you must be excited.

Gramma if you hang all the pictures up now what will you do in the winter, is there winter in Georgia?

    Aleida your pictures are beautiful

Char that recipe you posted sounds yummy I'm going to have to try it once I'm finished with my diet.

Welcome to Meme always  nice to expand our family

Waving to all others time to get in a walk before it gets to hot

Anica, what a problem to deal with the insurance co.  I was always told if you can't say anything nice about someone don't say anything. So I won't say anything about the insurance.

I can feel the heat all ready...whew.

Where is Aleida, she usually is early, maybe she slept in so I should be quiet not to wake her up even western girls.

    WAKE UP.

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/24/09

    Good morning everyone,

When I went to bed last night, the forecast was for some sun today and getting much hotter.  I wake up this morning to grey skies and more showers.  Now they are saying showers for the day, ending tomorrow morning and clearing for a day or two.  If we don't soon get some sun, I will lose all my strawberries.  They are starting to rot on the vine.  It's been nothing but rain since last Thursday.  It seems longer.

Dh said last night, that we might have to get a cow or something.  The lawn was in need of mowing before the rain started.  It's going to be so tall and thick to mow.  We don't have a ride on, just a push mower.  Hmmm, if we were to get a cow, I could have fresh milk and cream!  Yummy!!

Anica, that is something with the insurance.  Guess it would be a good idea to check into these things.  Same with credit card reports.  One time dh asked for a record and it shows who has been doing credit checks on you.  There were companies we never heard of asking for credit info on him.

I had the first of the weekly doctor appointments yesterday.  Everything is good.  The baby is still growing.  However I had lost a lb since my appointment 2 weeks ago.  But they aren't worried about it, as long as the baby is growing.  I asked the doctor what he thinks the baby will weigh at birth.  He shocked me when he said 8-9lbs if I go full term.  I don't think I have even gained 10 lbs this whole pregnancy.  I was thinking more along the lines of a 7lb baby boy!  Just 3 and a half more weeks til my due date.  I haven't even packed my hospital bag yet!

Well off to have some breakfast and see what I can get into today.  I feel like baking, but don't know what.  I still have lots of blueberries in the freezer, maybe I'll make a loaf or muffins.

    Have a great day!

    Cathy

Good morning everyone.  We are going to have a warm day today, just too bad we couldn't have got some much needed rain.  Oh well, guess I will spend the day weeding and then watering the gardens.Just may get the rest of my flowers planted. LOL

Hope the next few weeks will go by quickly for you Cathy, soon we will have a new member on the board.

My Mom was abit better yesterday, but still so weak that she cannot even take a step on her own. We will go down sometime on the weekend unless something else comes up before then.

Keisha goes on a year end trip today to the city so have to pack her a lunch so better get moving. Hope everyone has a good day,   BBL    Dolores

    Good morning ladies,

We've got another cloudless blue sky to start this day.  The forecast is for warmer temperatures than yesterday but still OK.  The humidity is low.

We're heading to Wpg early tomorrow.  DS wants to upgrade this computer box, so I'll unplug everything today and hopefully will be reconnected sometime Friday.  We'll celebrate with a birthday lunch, visit with my sister from Ottawa and Mom and do a few errands too.  It will be a very busy day.

Have a great middle of the work week Wednesday.       Pat

    Good morning all,

Another beautiful day today. No yard or garden work to do.Got it all done the last 2 days. I do need to check cucumbers & squash. That's all we have coming in right now. Oh some green onions too. They said the humidity won't be as high today but the temps will.

We get baby Munchkin today. They are taking Conner to the movies.

Cathy, I didn't see you yesterday so here are the recipes I posted for you the other day.

Cathy, I don't have a recipe for the cucumbers. Just mix sour cream & vinegar together until it tastes just like you want it.  Peel & slice the cucumbers and onions, put salt on them. Later drain the water off and add to the sour cream mixture.

    Dilly Beans

2 lbs. green beans ( if you use straight ones, they stand in the jar better.)

    4 cloves garlic

    2-1/2 cups vinegar

    2-1/2 cups water

    1/4 cup canning salt

    4 heads dill

1 tsp. cayenne pepper (or sliced hot peppers)

pinch of alum in each jar

Pack fresh green beans lengthwise in jars. Add 1 head of dill, alum,1/4 tsp cayenne pepper and garlic in each jar. Combine water, vinegar and salt and bring to boil. Pour over beans leaving 1/4" head space. Seal and process pint or quarts 10 minutes in boiling water bath. Let stand at least 2 weeks before using.

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/24/09

Good morning -- by now you're probably thinking that I slept in -- NOT.  I got up after the 6 a.m. news and made coffee and then came here to do my thing when DH said "Let's sit outside to have our coffee."  Don't have to ask me twice -- I love doing that.  That was a relaxing hour and then we decided to water the plants since it will be another hot -- without rain-- day today -- that takes 1 - 2 hours.  And while I did that, DH planted most of the remaining annuals that we had bought.  I've had my bath, made a second pot of coffee and had some of the bread I baked yesterday.  -- noudder -- recipe is coming -- probably today.

We intend to do the farmer's market in Gravenhurst today and then DH will be golfing men's night -- I'll have to pick him up tonight.  I don't intend to weed today but I will drag out the rest of my stepping stones, gardent ornaments, lights and wind chimes.  Yup -- I think gramma said it -- by the time I'm done, frost should be here.  LOL

So now I'll read the posts and see what's up

I agree Maria, Char, that recipe sounds awesome.  Yes DH is passionate about his golf.  He isn't a sit down kind of person like his DW.  Boots is behaving fine -- Luke is not -- he needs more work and I'm not sure how to go about it.  He still seems to wander to the neighbours.  I had to put him inside twice yesterday while I worked outside -- a shame really.  And last night he got up on the counter again and snitched some food -- he hasn't done that in a long time.  Into his cage for that -- although can he realize that that was a consequence of bad behaviour -- possibly because I kept showing the leftover piece of food and saying NO!!

I hate the price over a dollar also -- joined Costco and their gas is usually about 4 cents cheaper -- but Costco is in Barrie and can't go there just for gas.  LOL

Hi Anica -- how do things like that happen.  With the Costco membership I am supposed to be able to get cheaper insurance so I will have to look into that soon.  Thanks on the picture complement.  I intend to post some more today.

Heh -- Maria you shouted -- but I was long awake.

Cathy sure hope you get the sun for the strawberries -- that's how they were here last year and we picked them at a farm and paid for them -- when I tasted one while cleaning them -- yuck!!

Hi Dolores -- you sound to be at where I am -- weeding, watering and planting.  Enjoy your day

Hi Pat -- computer box -- cute -- have a nice day in Winnipeg.

Good morning Marilyn.  Have fun with the baby today.

well time for my second cup of coffee -- wondered last night if I was listless because I had had no coffee in the middle of the afternoon -- only one in the morning -- that could be why.  I'll have to sort of watch that.  Don't like feeling like that -- want to have more enthusiasm for whatever I decide to do.

    welcome to Meme

    Aleida

    Re: Canadian Corner 06/24/09

Good morning!  I picked up an hour's babysitting job today.  What on earth do I charge her?  It's not a friend of mine, so it's not just a favor.  I charge $7 an hour, but I'm thinking of charging $10 for one hour, and if it's an hour and half, I'm thinking $14.  what do you guys think, is that unfair or not??  I'm such a sucker, I should have just said no.

YF, yea, it's near the weekend, gas prices soaring.  We are at $109 now.

Anica, with all the privacy rules, it sounds like it could be hard to even see your own record!  Glad you got that straightened out.

YF!!!!  About the time you shouted so darn loud, is when Zack came running to our bedroom, sheesh woman, your scaring the little kids with your ruckus!

Cathy, have you been taking anything for preparing for the birth?  When I was in my last six weeks, I started taking some stuff from the healthfood store.  I can't remember the name, but you start it in the last six weeks, is slowly suppose to help things along, and help to shorten the labour and help your tissues to soften to lessen the tearing and such.  Its a mixture of herbs, red raspberry is in it also, and I think black cohash.  Whatever it was, I swear by it!  I had the shortest ever labour, never tore, and it was really easy compared to anyone else.  I took it with all three kids, and all of them were about four hours of labour, well, not counting the first two hours where you question wether it is labour or not, LOL.  And don't believe the doctors prediction.  My doctor predicted 8 pounds, and DD was 6 1/2.

Dolores, how long of a drive is it to where your mom is?  Are your roads busy now with tourists?

    Pat, enjoy the visiting!

Marilyn, I might have to try your bean recipe, as DH likes pickled beans, and I havent been very sucessful with them so far.

Aleida, my goodness, you've got the life!  You sound like my parents!  And when the morning is cool, they go into their big greenhouse, that has a small bistro table and chairs, and have coffee in there! LOL.  First time my mom did that, my dad thought she'd gone crazy.  Then one morning, she caught him drinking his coffee in the greenhouse, and so he had to admit it was actually quit nice!  I think it's funny.  But their deck is still in the shade in the morning.  Personally, if I go in that greenhouse, and the cuke hasn't been picked, it's gonna mysteriusly disapear, and I'm gonna eat the first cuke of the year!

Okay, that is Char's novel for June 24.  3 more months, and I will be 34 years old!  Oh yippee, do I get presents????  Doubt it Tongue Tied

Marilyn, thank you for the recipes.  I did see them, but my computer has been acting up so bad lately, that half the time, I can't post.  I need to upgrade, but right now I have other things to spend $$ on.  I know it needs to be cleaned up, but not sure what to do.

Char, I saw where you had posted before about some herbal stuff.  I had looked it up, but said it's not recommended with endometreosis.  From what I have seen in the ultrasound pictures, this guy is gonna be long legged.

So far, the rain is holding off.  However it is still really cloudy and muggy out.  I was hoping to get some laundry done today, but will wait for the sunshine tomorrow (if it shows).  I don't want to turn the dryer on, if I don't have too.

I just went to check on the garden and strawberries and was chased back in by all the mosquitos.  I think they are out for some fresh blood!

Good Morning...just got up. Good thing I don't hear well because I wouldn't have appreciated the screaming wakeup call across the miles to wake up Char. When I work into the evening, I prefer to sleep as long as possible into the morning. You'd faint if you came to my door and looked at me. My hair is standing up straight and tall and I'm squinting out of eyes that haven't seen a cold facecloth yet A very scary sight, to be sure.

Maybe I should take a shower and join the living, huh?  BBL

JP.  Oh, well, my Avon just arrived.  I saw the van, and knew she would ring my doorbell.  I just kinda ducked, and didn't answere the door!  Hey, I'm not done my coffee yet!!  She just leaves it on my doorstep anyway!

Cathy, I didn't know that it wasn't recommended for certain people.  I used to work at a healthfood store, and remembered a bunch of pregnant women swearing by it.  Is your DH tall?  Two of my kids were really long.  My middle child was my biggest, shortest, still is.

Brian isn't overly tall, but his dad and brother both are.  My oldest brotehr is quite tall too.  Not me!  I'm just a short and chubby 5'4'ish.  I hope he doesn't take after me.  But I don't think so, from the looks of the long legs in the ultrasound.  Guess I will soon find out!

Hi, I'm home again.  We went to the farmer's market and did not buy much.  Bought a bag of pepperettes -- both DH and I like them and then another dry sausage thingie -- I have such a great vocabulary -- and a sourdough bread -- which we later split with the in-laws when we went to pick up DBIL as he golfs with DH today.  Then before we left we bought two sausages on buns for lunch -- very good.

On the way home -- sky is blue and no clouds -- and I'm playing the oldies on the radio -- ancients to you Char -- and I am whisked right back to my teen years -- remembering going outside to lay in the sun -- not for long because we lived on a farm and we did not have a lot of free time -- with a little transisitor radio -- remember those?  aaaahhh the reminiscing was so good -- I cannot tell you.

Now I should head outside and enjoy some more oldies -- although I cannot always get this channel on the radio -- car yes but at home iffy -- do like the one on the cable channel -- but have also done away with that except for in the bedroom -- but not to fret-- I have many oldies CDs -- they almost give them away at garage sales and I love them -- AND -- now I will be sitting in the shade -- cannot sit in the sun -- unless I'm weeding -- or I start to get real antsy.  --- Picture that!!  LOL

    Hi,

I spent the entire morning on my tractor.  I mowed where DH had moved equipment and then have been rototilling.  I did the squash, cucumbers,  what corn that came up and all the potatoes.  Sure does make a difference.

Now its time to have some lunch  and relax a little.  I've bounced about long enough.

Enjoy the day.  We've got fluffy white clouds and a light wind to keep the mosquitoes away.
