It looks like you might be from LA. You're gonna get really stolen from when the Jacksons cause you to have to pay for the "public memorial" fortheir son. I just saw someone on TV talking about all the expense that the taxpayers will have to incur from it. I'd be really mad about that one!

    AMERICA?

You Americans are so gullible. No, you won’t accept communism outright, but we’ll keep feeding you small doses of socialism until you’ll finally wake up and find you already have communism. We won’t have to fight you. We’ll so weaken your economy until you’ll fall like overripe fruit into our hands.’--Nikita Khrushchev

They'll be back. If they were able to steal something and get away with it onve, who's to say they wont try again? Get the motion sensor lights AND a gate at the end of your driveway. If you dont have a security system,Im pretty sure you can purchase stickers and such that indicate you have a security system. Maybe a big, protective dog?

Two men broke into my house a few years ago at 2:00 AM. DH was working third shift and I was home alone with the kids. I dont sleep well when he's not home so luckily I was awake. My dog alerted me to a problem. Ive never been more thankful for my 9mm as I was that night.

Honestly a gate would only slow them down not stop them.

Hubby saw a lady he KNOWS did NOT have permission in his dad's yard picking the figs off of a tree that grew over the neighbors fence into his dad's yard.  Now that yard does have a gate and is fenced all around.  I guess they figured it was their tree that grew over the wooden fence and the figs from it were theirs.  Hubby said he will tell his brother next time to cut every branch that crosses over the fence and that will hopefully stop that.

I hope Reiman doesnt ban my suggeston, but it just popped into my mind...can't help it!...why not pee into an empty gas can a few times and leave it out there....see if they come back after taking that!

NursePat a good suggestion but I'd use something else like BLEACH or Vinegar in a "dummy gas can" in full view.  Keep the real stuff under lock & key.

    Re: I'm MAD AS HECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess this kind of thing happens everywhere; always has, always will. There was a story on our local news a few weeks ago about somebody stealing flowerpots and garden decorations from somebody's yard. They were busted because somebody in their own neighborhood saw them unloading the stuff at home at 3 am. Stupid criminals...

Oddly, I've never had anything taken from my yard, and it's not even 'my' yard. I live in an apartment complex, so I actually expected to lose a thing or two. But not yet!

About 31 years ago, when we lived in an house we rented from DH's sister, someone stole the battery out of my car.

Someone told me today, that at a place calle Pullman's Square, where there are shops and a movie theater, someone came up behind a guy with a knife, and told him to give him hsi wallet. In broad daylight!

This happened very near where the man came up to my truck and wanted money to eat.

It is infuriating that someone would come onyour property and take somethingAngry

Someone kept taking my mom's gas can, but they would throw it back in the yard empty later on.  I had enough and instead of filling it with gas I filled it with diesel one day and left it out in the yard.  Sure enough they took the bait - the diesel filled gas can was gone and was back in the yard empty later on.  I threw that can away because I didn't want to contaminate my mom's lawnmower and bought a new one.  It was never stolen again.

HA!  Now THAT is clever!  Good for you!

    Re: I'm MAD AS HECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can totally understand your anger.  Last August, on a Saturday night, someone or ones climbed over our fence & went into the garage.  We have a lot of tools in there!  No, they siphoned some gas from both of our cars - tho how they got to mine as the fuel door is up close & personnel with the snow blower - cleaned DH's car of the spare change, but left mine spare change alone!  I was not really that mad until I checked the freezer - WOW, I must have $1000 worth of meat in there!  What go me furious was the fact they took the ice cream cake I hid there for DH birthday that Sunday!  Gas, change, and ice cream cake!  What a combo.  By the way, the gas loss didn't even show on the gage so they didn't even take that much!  The cops figured it was kids, but what did they put the gas in?  They would have had better luck just taking the 5 gallon can we keep around for the mower & snow blower.

This is the best curse I can suggest...

May the fleas of 10 thousand camels infect their crotch, may their arms shrivel up to where they can't scratch, and may this condition last until the End Of Time.

The best trap I can think of is to take a cup of loose dirt and mix it in with a can of fuel (make sure you mark the can in a way that it's visible from the street.  Take another can, similarly marked, but with a second mark Not noticable from a distance, and use that so would-be thieves get familiar with the markings.  Of course, the uncontaminated can goes into hiding, leaving the one with the dirt available for the thief.  They can't say anything, because then they have to admit to criminal trespass (they entered your property to commit a crime) and theft.

    Re: I'm MAD AS HECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel for you, 3Trees!  I'd be mad, too.   BTW, they're stealing everything that's not bolted down in our area.   And as someone else mentioned, I don't think it's the economy either--I think it's drugs!

Recently our can of mixed fuel for the trimmer disappeared but Hubby says he may have misplaced it???  Confused   So he bought another one.

Love the idea of changing the contents of the can.  Seems like there was something people used to add to gas tanks that messed them up--was it sugar?

But we may have the perfect protection--just recently a skunk has been roaming our yard at night so I hope if someone does come on our property that they will leave smelling "aromatic".   LOL

Yes, Sugar, water, or dirt, or a number of other things would really mess up your engine, and they would deserve it!  I would be the one to end up in jail.  If, on the other hand, they break into my home while I'm there, you can bet they will be leaving in a horizontal position, and there will be no witnesses!

3Magnolia, just glad you are alive to tell us about it, things could have been worse. I never answer the door anymore unless I know you are coming or know the UPS man is coming, you can track the packages knowing the day. I got Brinks alarm that is the best $35 a month I can spend. Took DH awhile to figure out not to answer the door, it's kids selling stuff, people wanting me to join their church, and people that need money for something that I'm not interested in. I do have motion lights in the driveway plus that Brinks sign too so far so good. I know you are mad but you are so lucky it could have went in a bad direction too.
