    Healthy Choices July 3, 2009

    Good morning everyone,

Oh, how wrong the weather forecast can be.  It was supposed to be sunny and warm today, but instead, we had rain all night, a drizzle this morning and the temperature is a chilly 60 degrees.  We'll see if it reaches 75 as they said it would.

Pat, what a great time the preschoolers had.  It must have been fun for you and for everyone. I can just picture those little ponies pulling the carriage with the kids in it.  I hope someone took pictures so the kids can have at least one of them to take home to remember they're special day there.  What a surprise it must have been to find a new baby that you didn't even know about.  :)

Barb, that's pretty scary about the Albuterol.  It's too bad there was something in it that wasn't good for air quality, but I 'm glad they found out what it was before you used it any longer. I hope it didn't do any harm to your lungs.     I think Adam was on that one for awhile too.  He still has an inhaler when he needs it, but there was a time when he had to have breathing treatments everyday for his asthma. He doesn't need those any longer, but when he gets a cold, it's always more complicated and ends up being bronchitis and he's back on the breathing treatments.

Your menu for the 4th sounds good. I don't think I've ever seen the recipe for the cornbread salad. Do we have that one on RTR?

How lucky you are to have any kind of berries growing in your garden.  I would love that.  Berries ar so expensive here.

I hope Marti and Joe will have a good weekend and that Joe is feeling stronger.

Getting an early start here. DH wants to go out for breakfast, so who am I to resist.LOL  A quick stop at the grocery store after that, by then Mom should be here. Dsis is picking her up this morning and bringing her to my house.

Back a little later.  Hope everyone has a nice Friday.  Take care and God bless. Jo Ann

    Good morning everyone,

    It's another cloudy morning 60°

Holley has been sick now for two days. She has some kind of a stomach thing.

She is so tiny that after a couple days she will lose 3 0r 4 pounds which is a lot for her.

I hope I don't catch whatever it is.

I took this picture last night of Holley taking Sebastian out for his potty before bed.

He goes into such a deep sleep that she carries him. Sometimes he falls over when she put him on the ground. LOL

This was taken this morning ~~notice how he sits with his back legs tucked between his front legs.

What a character he is LOL    Nothing like boring you with my pictures. I am like a proud Gramma.

Pat A  I would enjoy seeing those ponies, too. They must be adorable.

Barb, I used Albuterol for years now I use Proventil as needed. I usually have trouble in the spring and fall. With all this rain my asthma seems to be worse lately.~lots of mold out there now.

I will check back later in the day ~~~I have to go pay my property tax and car tax this morning.

I wish I could win the lottery ~~Oh right, you have to play to win. Hmm

    Have a nice day.

    Shirley

    Good morning everyone.

Shirley, you are sounding mighty perky this morning...loved the pics of Sebastian!  He is getting BIG!!  Last night I dreamed I was getting three puppies...one male, two females.  They all were little white fluff balls...then I woke up!

Miss Molly passed her age 14 check up with flying colors.  She goes in next week for her dental cleaning....what fun that will be.  She hates going and always gives me grief when I'm trying to get her in the car.  She's a stinker, for sure!

PatA....what fun you must have had with the kids and the little ponies!  Glad the little girl that was scared got over it.  She would have missed making a special memory.  And how fun to find a new pony!  Mama was being careful and didn't want to share apparently.

Jo Ann...is Gabi feeling better now?  I hope so.  And what fun the boys had sliding into home plate one after the other.  Sure hope someone got pictures of that.

Not so busy a day today...have to go to the bank and get them straightened out.  I cashed a check given to me by a friend and they deducted it from MY account...the statement says "teller withdrawal"....not sure how that can be as the funds were from her bank...not mine.  Anyway I have a copy of the check front and back and I have my statement that shows the deduction....Grrrrr!  Imcompetence!!  Then I need to take some information to a new friend and maybe will take another book to Barb so she can read while recuperating from her toe surgery.  And it's going to be HOT today....I'd better get going.

    Y'all have a great day!

Re: Healthy Choices July 3, 2009

Good morning... I’m checking in a littler earlier than usual (for me) since I’m checking in from home. I thought I would check in before I get busy around here. My sisters are coming over today and they are coming to see the new bathrooms and to give me some "advice" on decorating. LOL Then, we are going to a town about 15 miles away for lunch and do a little shopping.

PatA, You had a busy day yesterday. It sounds like those kids had a such a good time. Were you able to get Ashley out to see the ponies when she was there?

Shirley, I love the pictures of Sebastian. You had good reason to be a proud grandma (with pictures to share). I’m sorry Holley is not feeling well and I certainly hope that you don’t come down with it, either.

Jo Ann, you are just doing your wifely duty by going out to breakfast with your dh. My friend’s grandma always used to tell us that you should always go with your dh when he asks you to go with him because if you don’t he will quit asking. I always thought that was pretty good advice. I think the cornbread salad is posted on our RTR thread. I’m not sure if Barb posted it or if I did. It is very good and one my family likes a lot. But, like Barb said it does make a lot.

Barb, your menu sounds good for the 4th. When we used to have raspberry bushes (at the place we lived before here), I made raspberry freezer jam every year - the kids loved it. Maybe I should try growing raspberries again. We used to have some here, but, the dog (we had at the time) ate them as soon as they would ripen - good thing he was an outside dog.

Well, I better get busy. You all take care and I’ll probably check back later...

Re: Healthy Choices July 3, 2009

Hi all. Another hot day here. It will be high 90s again. Heather and I went shopping early. Picked up the specials at Safeway. I do not like to shop there and only do it for the bargains. The reason is because of the way they do their store coupon discounts. They made a $3 mistake on mine but of course I didn't catch it until later. I'm going back to show them though. The item was orginally $3.99. With coupon it was .99. There was a limit of 2. I got 2. When she took the discount off, she only took it off for one. $3 bucks is $3 bucks and better in my pocket than theirs.

We also stopped at the other supermarket to get the bread I like. When we were checking out, there was a lady in front of us who had gotten a big tray of fresh veggies and ranch dip, you know, the kind with the plastic cover on it. She put it in her "bring your own" bag, sideways and the lid came off. So, she gave it to the checker and said she'd go get another one. The checker ( who looked a bit perplexed) had to throw the whole thing out. It made me sick to see that waste but it's a rule. There were those expensive small red peppers in it too. I told him I needed a red pepper but wasn't about to pay $3.20 for one and it made me sick to see him throw it out. He said they have to throw out a lot of stuff. It's no wonder there are so many dumpster divers in this economy. And the thing is, it was the ladies fault for shoving it wrong down in her bag that she was so proud to be carrying. Some of these "Greenies" just need a good knock upside the head. She should have had to pay for it.

Jo Anne, there are a lot of different recipes for the cornbread salad but it always goes over well. And if you take it somewhere, you might as well print the recipe to take along because you are sure to be asked for it. Shirley, I love those pictures. Keep 'em coming . Holly sounds like OGD. She is way too thin. I thought she would gain weight after she stopped playing sports but she hasn't . And then she got sick and lost even more I bet. I think she is so thin her resistance is down. She catches every cold that comes around.

Verna, glad Miss Molly passed her checkup. I'm keeping ours inside where it's cool. They do like to lay in the shade on the cool grass but I only let them do that for a little while if we are outside too.

Jolynn, our friend came by today and I asked him if I could get some raspberry starts from him in the fall. He is going to give me some. He's a really nice guy but is so big, I worry about his health. He has this HUGE stomach. And he is diabetic. It has to be uncomfortable to be that big . I think DH said he weighs 350 lbs. He brought me an Afgan that his wife had gotten somewhere. He thought it would match my exercise room because it has a lot of different colors. I don't know why I'd need an afgan in that room but it sure was nice of him to think of me. Well,

DH has gone to visit a friend who just had surgery so I think I'll take this opportunity to vacuum and get my stuff ready for my salad. Hope you all have a nice day.

I had to go back and edit that post.  When I posted, it came out all one big paragraph.  It still  isn't quite right but I guess you  figure it out.
