SATURDAY: What's Cookin'? Happy 4th Of July

Good morning friends Coffee and Happy 4th Of JulyParty!!!.

We'll probably grill hot dogs and burgers for dinner. A salad and corn on the cob sounds good too.

Later tonight DH, DD one of her friends and some other friends of ours will be going to the fireworks.

Yesterday we took DD and one of her friends to Liberty Science Center as it was supposed to rain but it never did. Had we chosen an outdoor activity it probably would've rainedTongue Tied. Oh well, we all had a good time and that's what matters. Came home, ordered pizza and a bunch of sides.

No matter how you plan to spend it, enjoy your 4th of July.

    Happy 4th!

Hope you have a great holiday. We're having an indoor picnic since it's supposed to rain all day. On the menu: Bachelor Chicken, homemade potato salad, baked beans, and sliced tomatoes. Watermelon for dessert.

Flags and fireworks and sparklers, oh my!

Happy 4th to everyone!  Don't forget all our wonderful soldiers today--say a quick prayer for them.  Enjoy your day!

DH has gone to work already and I have begun some cooking and cleaning today.  Dinner tonight will be indoors due to the heat.  I will do something with chicken (either bar-b-q or breaded and baked), Harvard beets, and Frito corn salad (couldn't find the chili cheese flavor Frito's anywhere, so I will subsitute Honey bar-b-q flavor-----hope I won't be sorry).  Dessert will be watermelon.

It's a hot and sticky 83 out this morning.  No rain in the forecast for today, which will make all the powereboat racers and viewers happy.  Fireworks are on the beach tonight.

Party!!!Happy 4th of July, expecting weather in the high 80s. Most of the family left last night to drive the  2 hours to Long Beach Washington to DDS beach house, we're going to drive down today, their having a pig roast and enough sides to fill up the Navy, Long Beach is a lovely interesting beach town, summer or winter, their home is nestled on 3 acres in the Cranberry Bogs, they even have a pond in the back with 2 beaver living in it Deer, bear and elk are frequently seen. They live in Portland Oregon but spend just about every week end there.

Stay safe and enjoy the day. Judy

    Happy Independence Day!

We went to watch the fireworks last night and ended up getting 3 inches of rain dumped on us!

DD1 has to work all day so we had a big BBQ'd meal yesterday, so today we'll probably have BLT's and chips. I am making The Pioneer Womans peanut butter pie, DH will LOVE that.

Tomorrow were attending a family reunion, that should be fun.

Hamburgers and hot dogs are on our menu today -- the weather will determine whether they are cooked indoors or out. I try not to buy a lot of chips but got a couple bags of kettle chips to go with our burgers. I'm planning to make a peach cobbler later on too, to have with ice cream. Wish I had fresh peaches but pie filling will work as well.

I am so grateful for our country and our freedom, especially in watching the post-election turmoil in Iran. Despite the many disagreements and gridlock in our government, we've never had tanks or soldiers in our streets to settle a political crisis.  I'm thankful for determined leaders who were willing to put their lives on the line back in 1776, and I'm thankful for our men & women in uniform today. (Including three nephews of mine, serving in the Army, Air Force, and Navy)

    Happy Birthday America!

Well said emr - I agree whole heartedly. Gof Bless our troops.

Today is another scorcher. I will be spending it with DH and 3 other ladies in an air conditioned kitchen at church making casseroles for the brunch tomorrow. That will take most of the day I think.

On the chili cheese Frito's - they were not flavored much at all. I could not tell they were any diferent from regular ones to be honest.

Dinner will be baked potatoes with toppings. DH requested cheese and bacon-easy enough. I am going to make a creamed chicken tarragon for me. Which remminds me to go and thaw out some chicken!

    Have a super day!

Dh has gone on a motorcycle ride to the N. GA mountains with a friend. It is a sunny and hot day, great for a ride. Tonight we are going to a cookout and I am taking a berry cobbler with a cookie crust.

If I get myself motivated, I will de-clutter some closets. I have a lot of unused things that could go to Goodwill. I only wear a fraction of the clothes hanging in the closets, so I might as well give them to someone in need. I also have a ton of books, games, etc. that have accumulated over the years. Oh, I am such a packrat.

Good morning and happy fourth to you all and especially to your nephews, emr, and all the other servicemen and women keeping us safe. Well try as I might I couldn't get on here yesterday. Either my machine was having a temper tantrum or it was just being lazy. My DGS says it probably needs a cleaning out. I've never had it done because I am always afraid that I will lose all of the good stuff I have on it. Has anyone had their computer cleaned up?

Nothing special today but DH's brother will be out with his family and is bringing scallops to grill. My DD and family are off to Martha's Vinyard for the holiday weekend. I'll sure miss the twins, it's so quiet without them around. Tonight I will watch the WBZ celebration with the Boston Pops Orchestra, then the fireworks. It's pretty neat on the big screen TV. Not quite like being there but I could never deal with that big a crowd and all that walking. So I will be nice and comfy in my recliner with a big glass of lemonade and maybe some chips and no bugs.

    Have a great day. Pat

Happy 4th of July, everyone!  I am so thankful to live in America and grateful to all of our servicemen and women, past and present who serve our country.  May God bless each and every one of them and their families.

It's another hot day here in Wilmington...we are having a big cookout with family later this afternoon.  Burgers, hot dogs, and grilled chicken along with baked beans, potato salad, chips, etc....typical 4th of July fare!  We will be having fireworks around 9:00.  Dh always goes to SC to get them for the 4th and also for New Years Eve.  They love it, but they make me nervous.

Last night's concert was fantastic!!! We had a blast....really good cover band for Lynyrd Skynyrd ( they sing Sweet Home Alabama, Freebird, etc...).  We sang and danced for 2 1/2 hours   Big Smile

Have a great weekend yall   Smile

Re: SATURDAY: What's Cookin'? Happy 4th Of July

Happy 4th of July everyone. Thank you for your support of our Armed Forces. My ODS left for Kuwait with his Army National Guard unit yesterday or the day before. I haven't heard from him since Wednesday when he called from Fort Hood saying they were all packed up and ready to go just waiting for their orders to come through. I am so proud of him and all the military for keeping us free to have our democracy. It has been emtional couple of days but with DDD here with her husband has been fun. I had my mom and brother and my other brother and his wife and best friend over last night for supper. We had the best bbq ribs and potatoes on the grill and fresh sweet corn on the cob. I was stuffed. Everyone said it was an awesome meal. I made a blueberry pretzel dessert and everyone had a slice before they went home.

We are having a slow easy day today. I do have a pan of Gooey Caramel Butter Bars in the oven to take along on our picnic later today. Recipe is from the cookbook my sister gave me for my birthday called Sticky, Chewy, Messy Gooey. I will let you know how they turned out.

Kids and best friend are sacked out around the living room watching a movie. I love having my kids here. My best friend is awesome too. He just makes himself at home and is so loving to all of us.

Judy I hope you are feeling better everyday. Please take care.

Tammy wow is it ever hot there. I don't think I could live there in the summer. I would have to visit in the winter. My DS and DD and her husband spent 3 days in San Antonio last week while DS was on his 4 day leave. DD did not do good in the heat. She almost passed out at the water park they went to but she loved spending time with her big brother.

    Nancy enjoy the 4th.

We are heading out to neighboring town about 20 miles away for a picnic supper and watch the fireworks later today.

Thank you all for your support and friendship. You are the best.

Have a happy and safe day everyone
