Hmm [^o)] Setting Off Illegal Fireworks at Home...Yay or Nay?!

    Happy 4th of July, Everybody!

Hope you're all enjoying your Celebration of America's 233rd Birthday.  Smile

While celebrating...do you set off any fireworks?  Not the Commercial Grade type Fireworks, of course, but the fun at home Fireworks such as firecrackers, sparklers, bottle rockets, etc.

    Just curious.

Have a SAFE and Happy 4th of July!  Big Smile

    Krissy~~~

Edited to change Thread Title...Since I presume ALL Home Fireworks are Illegal, I figured the legality was implied in the question.

In Colo it's supposedly against the law for anyone but the professionals to set off fireworks.  That's a laugh...people everywhere have been setting them off for a couple of weeks, and I don't think the police do anything about it...they have other things to do, like being on the lookout for drunk drivers.

At our house it's nay, and has been since the kids moved out. We enjoy watching the big fireworks display at City Park right from our front yard.

Krissy, how about you and Bob?

We've done sparklers with the kids when we can get them, but they are illegal in NY - so sometimes getting your hands on them is difficult.  I have some friends that drive to PA and buy them, we just never have time to make the trip.

Oh wonderful memories. Our son would do a little show for the neighbor kids when he was small, well about 12. Miss those day's. One year we rented a cottage for the month of july and they had a boat parade,, flags all waving on the boats..Was really fun then that night different houses shot off fire works over the water. If you've never seen that do take it in one 4th.Guess all lakes do it to some extent, wish I had a home on the lake,oh but that boat has sailed,,LOL.

Truth to tell, Jo, Bob & I shoot off just about everything but firearms.  Surprise  However, we're rather polite about it and don't start playing with Pyrotechnics until after Noon.  We usually shut down our party tent about 10 or so in the evening.

Happy 4th to you & your's, btw!  Big Smile

Nay, they're all illegal here.......but you don't have to travel far to where they are legal. Funny then as you get into parts of the bay area (if not all) they're illegal again.

WTH mapped that master plan, I wonder?

     Nay.

First of all illegal .  Second the only place to buy them is 150 miles from here.  Third don't care for them.

You kids are gonna poke your eyes out!  Surprise

Anything that leaves the ground is illegal here, so that rules out everything but sparklers and little popping things that stay on the ground.

I don't participate in any of it.  Every year, we have some idiots in the neighborhood who didn't get the memo.  First of all, they scare all the neighborhood pets.  Second of all, they pose a fire danger to anyone with dry landscaping material (right now, that's ALL of us).  Third of all, I don't appreciate finding fireworks debris in my yard (some of those things can travel pretty far).  Fourth of all, they're illegal.  Confused

    I dread tonight.  Super Angry

I don't but all around me in the neighborhood people set them off. Pretty big stuff too. They are illegal here but in a neighborhood filled with firemen and policemen that doesn't seem to matter at all. They are the ones setting them off.

I should mention, for clarification purposes, that there's 3 or 4 residences in my area which set off Professional Displays each & every 4th of July.  Bob and I need only step out on our deck and we're able to see Fireworks 6 days to Sunday.  Surprise

Given that enviroment...we're not too worried about shooting off some of our own.

Since we're right across the street from our town's fireworks display...we have a strong police presence - between ticketing & towing illegal parked cars...it's also illegal to shoot off your own fireworks.  Between getting debri from the fireworks (1 year it covered my cousin's new white Cadillac...we've also had people bring sparklers to our BBQ...I still remember the year 1 kid threw his finished sparkler on the lawn & another barefoot kid stepped on it....nasty burn.

Re: Setting Off Illegal Fireworks at Home...Yay or Nay?!

Interesting - I didn't realize they were illegal in so many states.  Here in small town SD, it's illegal to set them off in town but not in the country.  So each year, my grandkids put on a fireworks show and frankly, I kind of hate it.  While it's pretty, I'm always so nervous about them hurting themselves or others or setting their house on fire that I really can't enjoy it too much.

By the way, one of my best friends lost an eye from fireworks many, many years ago.

No, we don't here. Not since the kids were small a couple of times.  We almost had one of those bottle rockets come for us, yikes.

We llike the piramid sparklers that light up the area around y ou.  Here, you aren't suppose to set off anything that goes up in the air. That doesn't leave much. People do anything here too, though. I use to be able to sit outside and see the neighbors, and almost a mile or so away, do theirs, but, the trees have grown to ohigh now.
