WAY OT: How to remove dye from fabric?

A load of white things ended up with a new pair of red shorts (no bleach involved), but some of my pretty white tops are now dingy pink.  Do those dye-catcher balls really work, or should I try something else?  TIA

I've used the Rit Dye Remover and it did a good job removing all traces of dye in my white cotton clothes.  It didn't do such a good job on my synthetic underwear, but no one sees those.

Hmmmmmmm, these aren't all cotton. Guess it wouldn't hurt to try, eh?

I've had good luck with a slightly stronger mix than normal of Tide cold water detergent in hot water.  It will remove a lot of the dye.  Soak for awhile.

Also hanging your whites in bright hot sunlight will help some.  (Natural bleach!)

I've used the products made by Rit - the color remover and the White wash. They work great. I used to use the white wash on my white uniforms and they always looked new.
