    What does divided mean?

I'm new to cooking, and definitely love this website, but I'm wondering what it means when it says divided?

  • 1 cup balsamic vinaigrette, divided
  • If someone could advise I'd appreciate it.

It just means you will need 1 cup total, but you will use part of it at one point in the recipe and the remainder of it at another point in the recipe.  Read the directions of your recipe and I think you'll understand what I mean.  :)

Too funny.  That makes so much sense now.

     Thanks very much.

Peyton's Mimi, explained it just right.  I was going to say the same thing, only use an example, like 2 cups cheese, divided, meaning you might use 1 cup of it in the recipe, and 1 cup on top.

I would also like to welcome you.
