NEW TO THE GROUP FORUM COMMUNITY

    Hello-

I am new to this whole group forum community so I just wanted to drop a note and introduce myself.  I'm from a little town in southwest WI, married for 2 years and have a little 18 month old son.

Our son is currently very interested in potty training, which we are excited about.  He has been going in his potty chair a few times a day and wakes up in the morning with a dry diaper.   My husband and I have been getting some grief from our Mothers regarding the potty training.  They think Cayden is too young to be potty training and have been negative and uncooperative when they watch him.  Any suggestions on how to handle this?

    Thanks

My advice would be to go with it.  If your son wants to use the potty by all means get him on it.  Don't be surprised though if one day he just says "no" and won't go anywhere near the potty again.  So you have a stall in the potty training.  You can keep asking him during this time but I wouldn't force it on him.  My boys were both around 2.5 when they potty trained.  I don't know what is "normal" but that is how it has worked in our house.  We tried to "force" our oldest daughter and it was a NIGHTMARE!  I seriously considered sending the next one to Kindergarten in diapers because I was never going to potty train again.  Potty training is an interesting adventure.  Good luck!
