In need of one pot/skillet recipes

    Hello everyone Big Smile

This is my first time posting in this forum, but I have been a subscriber to TOH since the premier years of the magazine. My husband's grandfather gave me my first subscription as a gift. So here is what I am looking for. My son is studying abroad in Germany. He will be there until July. The first two monthes in Germany he stayed with a host family while he attended language school. Now he is attending a semester at a University in Dresden, Germany studying architecture. He lives in a dorm/apt. next to the university. He has a kitchenette, complete with fridge, microwave but he only has a stovetop (no oven). He needs some good, economical one pot/skillet meals. I have scanned my Big Soup Cookbook from TOH and sent a few recipes through the TOH link (very helpful). What I would like is if you could direct me to more recipes that would be delicious and economical...and can be made on the stovetop (no oven recipes please). I have been scanning the TOH website, but I can't sit at the computer all dayWink I thought if I could have the good people at this forum direct me to their favorite one pot/skillet meal it would be so helpful. My son used to work for a caterer while he was in HS and in the summers while he was in college (undergrad), so he knows his way around the kitchen! He just needs some new ideas. He did take some recipes from home when he left for Germany, but not having an oven has put a kabosh in some of the recipes. He also said that they do not have mexican or asian ingredients in abundance over there, and condensed creamed soups is hard to find. If you are of German heritage, maybe you can direct me to a good german recipe, and all ingredients will be handy! Thanks for your help in this endeavor..if I need to forward my email to make it simpler I will, just let me know. If it is a recipe I can find on TOH website that would be great, and you can just give me the name of the recipe. Thanks for all your help

Gooseberry Patch has a book called "One Pot Meals"  The first 37 pages have recipes that can be done without an oven, There is also a microwave section as well as a slow cook section.  I find that most recipes in Gooseberry Patch cookbooks are great.  They have a web site at www.gooseberrypatch.com.

Re: In need of one pot/skillet recipes

I get recipes in the email from several cooking sites, that have a lot of stopetop type meals, a lot of them for 1 or 2 servings, and a lot for 4 servings.

I don't know the exact email address to put here, but if you just type the name in, they will probably pop up for you,

The main ones that are easy, are Kraft, Pillsbury, and Betty Crocker web sites.

I wish you luck in finding lots of recipes for him.  If I run across some good ones today, I will post them.
