    Re: HC Weekender 10/31-11/01/09

Good morning everyone... I hope everyone survived Halloween and remember to turn their clocks back. We went into town to some friends' house. We have been going there on Halloween since our children were still trick or treating. They had about 40 trick or treaters. Back in the good old days, they used to have close to 100 trick or treaters now, it seems as though about 25-30 is the norm.

I am trying to be productive this weekend since it is the first weekend I have been home and that I don't have to run to the city to see Mom. Yesterday, I baked a batch of dh's favorite sour cream chocolate chip cookies, made an apple pie, wrapped two shower gifts and wrapped ds' fiance's dd's birthday gifts. Sammy's birthday is today and she will be 4. We are going in this afternoon for her birthday party. When I write down what I did yesterday, it doesn't seem like very much; but, it seemed like I was busy all day... Hmmmm, could I be getting older? Oh, I also did some laundry. Today I need to get some house work done before we go into the party.

It sounds like I left Denver just in time...The day after I left dd called & said that they got 15" of snow! Its a good thing I bought dgs some new snow pants before I left down there.

Its good to see Lynn posting regularly again. And, Marti, I sure hope you can get the insurance mess straightened out. I'm not sure why they have to make Medicare so confusing. Barb, I hope you have enjoyed your week - how did the hunters do? Verna, good luck with the search for a new caregiver. Maureen, I think if Ava wants to do pink frosting for her mom's birthday cupcakes, you should. I'm sure Kim will understand and be delighted that Ava "made" them especially for her. lol Viny, it sounds like that Geocaching may be good exercise? PatA, when are you going to go see the ponies again? How are those babies doing? Also, congrats at going back to WW & stick with it. Sue, I can relate about how hard it is to be at work when you don't have much to do. It makes the day go by so slowly. Jo Ann, I'm sorry for your loss. I hope that they got some pictures of the trips all dressed up for Halloween that you will be able to see. Btw, did anyone else in the family get the flu?

Okay, I better go be productive.

    Until later...

    Re: HC Weekender 10/31-11/01/09

Good Morning Viny & JoLynn and those who drop in later.  I guess everyone is busy this morning.   We did not have any trick/treators either, but we had hard rains all day yesterday and still some last night and knowing the churches have fall festivals, I wasn't surprised, but I'll do what Pat did and stick the candy in the freezer until the gk's are here.
Viny, what great exercise you got yesterday plus it being fun too.  I'm sorry Pat is sick and it could very well be one of the medications,  I'm glad she is going to check with her doctor tomorrow.  Happy 13th birthday to your DGD.   I know you will have fun with all the family there.
Jolynn, reading your post sounds like you did lots yesterday,  I've found that I can stay busy and still not accomplish near what I did in years past, guess it is the age.  You sure did get out of Denver just in time.  Isn't this early for that much snow?  Will your DD get home for any of the holidays?
Do any of you grow the trumpet plants?  I have two that I rooted last winter and they have just begin to bloom, I have a white and pink one.  My dad always had one and I have tried for years to get one large enough to bloom.  I will cut them back and root all the cuttings for more plants next year.  A friend has a double white and orange one that I hope to get rooted this winter.  Having some sunlight makes a difference in what I grow.
This time change had me up long before daylight and making for a long morning.
Speaking of going to church with all the flu,  we are definitely staying away from large crowds, it seems like you hear more coughing and sneezing in church than anywhere else.  I wanted to get back to SS but I just don't feel good about leaving dh in the mornings.  He has already gone back to bed today.
Everyone enjoy the day and extra hour of sunlight.

    Re: HC Weekender 10/31-11/01/09

    Hello to everyone,

The day just got a little ahead of me.  I didn't realize it was so late and I even had an extra hour today.  The rain has finally moved out and we're back to some bright sunshine.  I have to say that this has been one of the most beautiful Fall season's I can remember. The leaves were just beautiful this year.

Pat, what a good idea, to bump up the RTR and Getting to Know You posts.  Thanks for doing that for us.

Viny, so glad you were able to get out to have some fun with your friend.  I don't think even Tom, the " Super Cacher" has ever gotten that many chaches in one day. LOL  Wait till I tell him about you.   Sorry that Pat is having stomach problems.  Mine has settled down and Verna is so right about sipping the ginger tea. I didn't get the kind she mentioned, because my store didn't have it, but did get another ginger tea. That might help Pat too.  Hope she's feeling better soon.

JoLynn, glad you made it out before the snow hit.  It sounds to me like you were very productive, yesterday.  You did get lots done and have a busy day, today, too.  I hope we get to see the trips in costume, too.  Luckily, no one else in the family got the flu. So far, so good.  Ken said he stayed in the bedroom as much as possible and when in the kitchen he kept the antibiotic wipes with him, wiping down evrerything he touched.  I can see him doing it too.  He still isn't feeling too well, He is bac to work but sounds pretty stuffed up and said his chest still feels tight and congested.  I hope he takes care of himself.  Ken has the problem so many of us have. He's great at taking care of everyone else and doesn't take the time he needs for himself.

Marti, it sounds like a good idea about putting the candy in the freezer.  I think I'll do that with mine too. Speaking of staying out of crowds, even in church, after the sign of peace at the funeral Mass, my DSIL, Mary, passed the antibacterial hand wash down the row to everyone  of us to use. LOL  I had to laugh because when DH's dad went to church with us, he did the same thing after the sign of peace.  It reminded me so much of him.   You must miss little Randi Jo by now.  I hope you'll be able to see her and her daddy soon, but I know you want to keep her away from those flu germs.  Hope you're feeling much bettr and that Joe is too.

Well, have to go stir the spachetti sauce. That's what DH suggested for today and it sounded like a good idea.  So, will check back latr.  Hope everyone has a nice day, today.  God bless. Jo Ann

    Re: HC Weekender 10/31-11/01/09

Hello everyone...what a glorious beautiful day it was!  Sunshine, light breeze and low 70s.  DD came over for a while this afternoon and planted some pots full of pansies.  We sat out on the patio for well over an hour...soaking up that Vit D you know!  What a restful day...up and out early for church and SS.

Did one more interview this afternoon.  All but one of the interviewees have been good.  I'll run the background checks tomorrow and depending on those, may or may not schedule second interviews.  Seems like I got a better class of applicants this time....well, except for those that scheduled interviews and then were no-shows.  They are definitely off the list!  Some of the ladies I liked immediately and some just need some warming up to.  Will be anxious to see the reports.  Just watch...the one I liked least will turn out to have the best background check!  LOL!

Zero trick or treaters last night...so that means I can eat all the mini Heath bars!  Actually, I'll probably crush them and put in cookies...choc chip cookie dough base.  I enjoyed that extra hour of sleep this morning...did NOT want to get up....and now I've committed myself to be at church next Sunday at 740 to "pray up" the pastor.  A group of 4-5 people join with the pastor and lift him in prayer before the first service....a blessing for all of us!

Miss Molly got the cone collar off today and I got her face all cleaned up where she had some eye gook....she is mighty happy to not be running into things...and I'm happy that I don't have to hand feed her!  Such a stinker!!

It's getting late and I haven't made dinner yet....may opt for a grilled cheese and some tomato soup...not sure yet.

    See y'all tomorrow!
